We would definitely do this again! We were picked up at our hotel. The tour guide showed us many places on the way, and was very knowledgeable, as well as entertaining.
When we were on the top of Haleakala, he took us all over the national park, then to a private spot to experience the sunset above the clouds.
Then he had his telescopes set up for us to view all sorts of stars, constellations and planets. He used a laser pointer to point out everything so we knew exectly what we were looking at. I was most impressed when he showed us Jupiter and Saturn - they were exquisite!

Three cheers for tour guide Yoshikazu Yamauchi - he is the best!

We gradually made our way to the summit in a car driven by our guide, and after waiting for a while before sunset, we were able to deeply appreciate the magnificent sight of the sun setting surrounded by a sea of clouds. Bathed in sunlight that changed in brilliance from orange to yellow to green, I felt the grandeur of nature. After that, it quickly became pitch dark, and we were able to immerse ourselves in a sky full of stars. I think this is the best entertainment in Maui.

Amazing sunset & night sky! We loved learning about stars. This tour is 100% worth it.
A special thanks to our tour guide Yoshi:
- He picked us up at our hotel right on time, we didn’t have to wait a minute!
- He bought us donuts for the ride and told us great stories about Maui along the way.
- The tour was well prepared: we had chairs and blankets to watch the sunset, and binoculars and telescope tonwatch the stars
- He was toughtful and offered us hot tea and coffee when he saw us shivering from cold (much needed!)

A must do on Maui

This was an amazing tour! Our guide was so knowledgeable. Gorgeous views and so many stars. We even got to see Saturn and the Milky Way! Both our kids 11 &15 fully enjoyed it. One said it was their favorite activity on our trip. We will definitely be doing it again on our next trip to Maui. It’s does get cold at the top, so make sure you bring layers, hat and gloves! Blankets are provided!

I had the experience in September. The car was exclusively ours, with no other customers present.

We secured Krispy Kreme donuts and recommended food, and after taking a break along the way, we drove to the summit over 3000 meters high. They provided us with warm clothing and blankets as a precaution against the cold, and while sitting and enjoying warm drinks, we were captivated by our conversation with Yamapi-san, almost missing the sunset (laughs). After sunset, we moved to the opposite side and saw a fantastical moon in a sky transitioning from red to blue.

As it got darker, we looked up at the stars and constellations, received explanations, and observed various celestial bodies through a telescope, creating an extraordinary experience.

Yamapi-san has climbed Haleakalā over 3000 times, so we felt safe leaving it in his hands. I was worried about altitude sickness and motion sickness, but I felt fine, and his stories were very interesting. He listened eagerly to our conversations, making it an enjoyable tour from start to finish.

I will definitely rely on him again when I visit Maui. Thank you very much.

クリスピードーナツやオススメフードを確保して、途中休憩を挟みながら、車で3000メートル超えの山頂へ。
防寒対策として防寒着や毛布を貸してくれ、椅子に座って暖かい飲み物をいただきながらの夕日鑑賞でしたが、ヤマピーさんとのお話しに夢中になってしまい、危うく夕日を逃すところでした(笑)
日没後は反対側に移動し、赤色から青色のグラデーションの空の中、幻想的な月を見れました。
周りが暗くなり、空を見上げながらの星座や星の説明、望遠鏡でのさまざまな天体観測が出来、非日常な体験が出来ました。

ヤマピーさんのハレアカラ登頂は3000回を超えているとのこと。安心してお任せできます。
高山病や車酔いを心配していましたが、体調を崩すことなく、そしてお話がとても興味深く、私達の話も熱心に聞いてくれて、終始楽しいツアーとなりました。
またマウイ島に行く際はお世話になります。

Had a great time even though it rained a little!

Overall the tour was great. Yoshi was very friendly and had everything needed for those unprepared, which was not us. Hot tea or coffee, blankets, heavy jackets, etc. The tour of the top, views of the craters and everything was great. He stopped on the way up so folks could buy food for dinner. We went from the top down to his secret spot for dinner, arriving about 40 minutes before sunset. Set up the cameras and relaxed while watching a spectacular sunset. Clouds moved in though and it got cold(er) and wet, so he took us down the hill I. Search of clear skies. It rained and we'd given up hope of stargazing when we came out of the clouds and he found a great viewing spot. We spent over an hour looking at various stellar things, as well as Saturn and the moon- the only solar system bodies in view. Overall we had a fun time. Would do again!

The views were spectacular. Our tour guide was exceptional and knowledgeable. He thought of everything (e.g., hot tea, donuts, coats, gloves). He was patient with my teens and ensured all were comfortable and warm. We saw a lot of shooting stars in addition to Venus and several constellations. Pick up and drop off from the cruise ship were convenient. This was a once in a lifetime experience.

This tour was amazing in every way!!! One of our family's favorite tours of all time!! Yoshi was an excellent driver on a rather scary road! Super safe and comfortable ride! Once we were at the top, he did the BEST job of making it a once in a lifetime experience for us. Shared lots of great information, pointed out just where to look at the perfect times. Had chairs, blankets, donuts, hot drinks, coats, you name it...he had it! Took the coolest pictures of our family during the sunset, overlooking the crater, and under the stars! The stargazing was amazing and he was especially great with our youngest as he had a step stool so she could look in the telescope easily and he took extra time with her to be sure she saw all the stars and the moon! If you do one adventure on Maui be sure it is this!!

Yoshi provides such an amazing tour and has every detail down to make sure you have the most amazing and comfortable experience. The trek up Haleakala was amazing slowly climbing above the clouds. The views were indescribable and the sunset views are going to be tough to match. The stargazing was a whole other experience that you just have to try for yourself. So grateful to have had this experience and so glad we chose Maui All Stars Stargazing!

The sunset and starry sky at Haleakalā were breathtakingly beautiful. It was an experience that sharpened all my senses.

The tour was enjoyable thanks to Yamapi's attentive support and engaging conversation, allowing me to reflect on myself. He provided detailed lectures about Haleakalā and the starry sky, making it easy to immerse myself in the experience without getting bored. Additionally, we enjoyed Krispy Kreme donuts and poke bowls along the way, and dining while watching the sunset over Maui was exceptionally delicious.

I definitely want to come back to Maui and participate in this tour again!

My husband and I booked the stargazing tour with Yoshi, and it exceeded our expectations. We live in a place with so much light pollution, we never see more than a handful of stars. We've wanted to see the "dark sky" for a long time. It was just breathtaking. There really are no words and pictures can not do the experience justice. Our guide was super friendly and accommodating. During the drive, stops, and sunset/stargazing he was very informative. This is the tour to choose on your next trip! Ask for Yoshi specifically.

Ahi poke and starry sky アヒポキと星空

I was guided by Yamachan to Haleakalā. There were three groups with seven people in total: one group from Canada and two groups from Japan. Thanks to the clear guidance in both Japanese and English, I was able to enjoy the experience with peace of mind.

Considering the crowds this time, we skipped Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and headed straight to Haleakalā. First, we stopped by a supermarket and purchased the recommended ahi poke from Yamachan. It was the most delicious ahi poke I’ve ever had! The coffee-flavored Maui cookies I bought at the same supermarket are also highly recommended. I wish I had bought more as souvenirs!

After that, to prevent altitude sickness, we ascended gradually by car. I felt the most dizziness and headache at the 1000m mark, but I had no issues at 2000m and 3000m. The summit was very cold, with a perceived temperature of around 0°C. They provided coats, gloves, and warm tea. I was wearing a hoodie, sweatpants, and a light down jacket, but it was too cold to stay for long, so I recommend preparing warm clothing, including Heattech.

The sea of clouds and the sunset were truly beautiful. The view from the prime spot was a real luxury. I couldn't see the last moment due to the flow of clouds, but I was very satisfied.

The starry sky was so breathtaking that it almost brought me to tears. Thanks to Yamachan's extensive expertise and the specialized telescope I had never seen before, I was able to learn and enjoy more than at a planetarium.

They also took many wonderful photos.

This was a tour that I would definitely want to join again when I visit Maui. Thank you very much.

Just make sure to prepare for the cold...!

ハレアカラ山を山ちゃんさんにに案内して貰いました。3組7人、1組はカナダから、2組は日本からの参加でした。日本語と英語での分かりやすいガイドで終始安心して楽しむことができました。

今回は混雑を考慮しクリスピークリームドーナツは寄らず、そのままハレアカラに向かいました。まずはスーパーに寄って、山ちゃんさんオススメのアヒポキを購入しました。いままでで1番美味しいアヒポキでした！同じスーパーで購入したマウイクッキーのコーヒー味もオススメです✨たくさん買ってお土産にすればよかったくらいでした。

その後、高山病を考慮して車で少しずつ登ってくださいました。1000m地点が1番目眩と頭痛を感じましたが、2000m、3000mは問題なく進むことができました。山頂は体感温度0℃程度でとても寒かったです。コートと手袋、暖かいお茶を用意してくださりました。パーカー、スウェットパンツ、ライトダウンを着用しておりましたが長時間滞在できない寒さだったため、ヒートテックを含めた防寒対策の準備をおすすめします。

足元に広がる雲海、サンセットは本当に美しかったです。特等席でみる景色は本当に贅沢でした。最後の瞬間は雲の流れで見ることが叶いませんでしたが大満足です。

こぼれんばかりの星空には涙が出そうなほど感動しました。山ちゃんさんの豊富な専門と、見たこともない専門的な望遠鏡のお陰で、プラネタリウム以上に学びながら楽しむことができました。

素敵な写真もたくさんおさめてくださりました。

またマウイ島に訪れる際は是非参加したいとと思えるツアーでした。ありがとうございました。

My kids RAVED

I and one of my sons were not able to go due to illness but my other kids went and loved the experience - they can't wait to do this again. They are very academically inclined and found him to be incredibly knowledgable and engaging. They could not stop talking about how much fun and informative the trip was. He also provided them with blankets, jackets, tea and coffee. He took beautiful pictures and showed them how to take photos as well.

Once in a lifetime experience

This experience is a MUST if you are staying in Maui!
You will not get to do this anywhere else! And book with Yoshi, he made this experience wonderful from start to end.

We were picked up on time, and did stops to pick up sandwich on route.

Yoshi took us to the summit and then found a nice quiet place for us to see the most beautiful sunset and then the night sky full of stars! It was truly spectacular!
Yoshi was so informative and the views of the Milky Way and craters on the moon from the telescope were amazing!

It’s very cold up at the summit so pack hat, gloves and warm clothes if you are doing this experience.

Yoshi bought coats and gloves for us! And some yummy Krispy Kreme donuts

Thank you again Yoshi for this incredible experience that me and my husband will always remember! It made are trip Hawaii even more special.

We enjoyed a stunning and wonderful sunset at top of Haleakala followed by stargazing. Although the full moon made the night sky too bright and made stargazing a bit difficult, Yoshi still worked hard to review the full moon with his telescope and to show/explain to us the visible stars to ensure we had a memorable time with our family. We had a wonderful time together.

The overall experience was amazing and unforgettable! We got to view the gorgeous sunset and sky studded with millions of stars. Our guide Yoshi provided warm coat and gloves, and we were able to enjoy the whole experience in warmth and comfort. Yoshi setup his powerful telescopes and gave us glimpse of moon's surface, and stars that are light years away. The experience exceeded our expectations, and would recommend for anyone visiting Maui.

I was guided to Haleakalā by Mr. Yamauchi from Maui All Stars.

Before it got dark, I was moved by the stunning display of the setting sun and the sea of clouds below, painted in shades of crimson. As the sun set and darkness fell, countless stars began to shine in the sky. Thanks to Mr. Yamauchi's extensive expertise and equipment, I was able to easily identify the names of the stars and constellations sparkling in the night sky. This sight was something that couldn't be captured by a camera, so I etched the starry sky into my heart.

I was particularly excited to see both the Big Dipper and the Southern Cross at the same time, which are rarely visible together. I don't think such luck will come my way again, but I hope to create another opportunity to visit. If you ever go to Maui, be sure to visit for the sunset and starry sky at Haleakalā. And do it with Mr. Yamauchi as your guide... Kiba.

暗くなるまでの時間は、沈みゆく太陽と足下の雲海がくりなす茜色の競演に感動しました。

I participated in the Haleakalā sunset and stargazing tour in June. I was thoroughly entertained by the guide, Yamapi, whose explanations I had seen in the media. The sea of clouds, sunset, and starry sky at Haleakalā were more beautiful than anything I had ever seen before. Additionally, the local food I was recommended to buy along the way was so delicious that I ended up going back for more during my trip. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Maui.

I couldn't make it to the summit. 山頂に行けなかった

The stargazing, including the explanation, was great, but the summit was crowded, so we turned back and headed to the observation point. Last time we were able to reach the summit, so I was expecting to do so again this time. There were quite a few breaks along the way, so if you're going to list Haleakalā Summit in the title, please ensure that the schedule allows for a guaranteed ascent.

Wonderful guide, 100% recommend over other Haleakala experiences

Yoshi is an excellent, enthusiastic guide who takes great pictures! He provided a lot of neat information about Maui and Haleakala along with extensive knowledge about the stars. You are picked up from fairly accessible locations, and I'm glad to pay for someone experienced in driving the roads, which can get narrow and quite close to cliff edges. Three stops along the way before the peak to get accustomed to the gradual climb in altitude. The actual crater couldn't be seen due to clouds, but Haleakala was still quite beautiful to see. I chose the sunset tour because I didn't want to get up that early for sunrise, and I'm glad I did! I was well rested and the sunset was beautiful. Yoshi provided comfortable camp chairs, warm coats, gloves, and hot tea as we waited for the sunset. You need to bring your own dinner, so don't forget to pack it! It was great, super peaceful, quiet, and comfy! Once night fell, Yoshi brought out some high-tech telescopes and pointed out constellations. I got to see Mars! It was a very clear night and amazing to see all the stars filling the sky. Informative and quite the experience. Afterwards, he drove us back. I really enjoyed this tour and highly recommend!

I participated with my wife and two daughters (ages 6 and 12). We were all very satisfied as we were able to see a stunning sunset along with many stars. They provided telescopes and binoculars, allowing us to observe closely, and thanks to Yamapi's guidance, we had a very enjoyable time with his rich knowledge and storytelling.

They do lend out warm clothing, but it can still be quite cold, so I recommend bringing layers to wear underneath. The cold seemed to affect the children particularly.

Yoshi was outstanding!

We absolutely loved our stargazing adventure with Yoshi! He thought of everything, including taking us to a private spot, blankets, hot beverages, chairs, as well as a wealth of knowledge and some incredible telescopes and binoculars. We were fortunate enough to have a tour with just the four of us on the day of our trip and we enjoyed every minute of it. Not only was Yoshi, friendly, courteous and knowledgeable but he also drove incredibly safely and stopped plenty of times for bathrooms and was just an all-around pleasure. We would certainly recommend Yoshi to anyone looking to have an excellent stargazing experience on Maui.
