What a great day!

Tight squeeze
Reviewed by: Oscareen, 2022/04/07This trip was nice, not too many vehicles going counter clockwise. We saw such a long line of cars towards the end. Glad we went backwards, and skipped the traffic.
There were some narrow squeezes and even had to back up once. But the views were great (just look quickly!) the rainbow trees are beautiful.
Time constraints didn’t allow us to swim under the waterfall, which I would have liked to do (colder water needed to get used to it and dry off..,)
Hana town looks quaint and cute.
The black sand beach and swimming was great!

Preston is an absolute asset!
Reviewed by: Angelina23, 2022/04/06Preston has to be the most amazing tour guide I've ever had the privilege of touring with! From being knowledgeable, to witty, he's got it all. He wants to ensure that EVERYONE no matter what season it is layers up, wears clothes toed shoes (toe warmers like the ones used in Tahoe would be the best idea ever!) and BRING A BLANKET! Whatever size you want, fluffy, non fluffy donuts matter. But, this awesome tour guide lets you leave you items safely on the bus so all your have to comfortable carry the very few far steps you actually have to walk, is the blanket and your camera for beautiful views. Keep your positive attitude when waking early, plan ahead with an energy drink or snack to keep you going until you reach to Kula Lodge (TRY THE LOCO MOCO JUST TRUST ME) and you'll be good to go!

朝日は絶景でした！

Awesome Experience!

Word of advice for attendees- bring motion sickness medicine and take in advance! Very winding road going up and coming down, elevation makes it worse and people who typically do not get motion sick got motion sick! Tour guide had ginger chews, and barf bags, which helped, but wish I had remembered my Dramamine! The summit was absolutely breathtaking and we stopped at every cool place to take pictures! They had us stop at a perfect little shop to buy snacks and souvenirs and it was by far my favorite shop from the whole trip! Lots of Hawaii home grown products! Would recommend this tour 100%!

Got to hit a lot of the spots we wanted to see, including the bamboo forest, swimming in waterfalls, tidal pools, lunch and banana bread from Aunty Sandy's. Sampled some fresh guava off the the side of the road Awesome views. Also, Ana, loved talking movies and tv shows with you! Great times!!

Gus and AnnaLisa both provided a fantastic narrative of the beautiful island of Maui from the lush rain forest to the beach and circled entire island. Stopped at wonderful places for local banana bread to ice cream and BBQ lunch as well as local island coffee. Enjoyed hearing about Maui’s culture, history, plants and flowers. Not to mention the breathe tasting scenery with personalized photos. Very social distance friendly and felt completely safe throughout the tour. Highly recommended.

Having a driver was great just so we can spend more time looking around and he knew several of the places to stop that we otherwise would have had no idea about. Also places do not stop, they were covered in tourist and other things. Our driver and the service did a great job.

We thought Haleakala was off the table because we could not find a sunrise tour. Fortunately I kept looking and found this sunset tour. Even better, didn’t have to wake up before 2 AM. Bonus. Kama our tour guide was wonderful and had lots of great information about the mountain and it’s rare plant life as well as tips for the rest of our trip. He treated us like we were family. I would highly recommend this tour.

Fun trip around the island!
Reviewed by: CDF, 2021/04/19Overall the tour was great. We hit all of the major stops and the guide offered to take us to additional stops along the way. Was an incredible and breathtaking trip! Only one star off since the driver was a bit overzealous about being punctual. I completely understand (and appreciate!) the need for the group members to be on time; however, the stern tone from the guide at 7:01AM for a 7AM pick up was a bit of a rough start to the day. Nevertheless, would recommend this trip to anyone.

He was kind, kept the transportation clean and safe, was a great driver and provided a wealth of knowledge along the way. The kids didn't mind having to wake up so early after seeing the beautiful sunrise.
It was cold at the top but our hotel was thoughtful enough to send us with blankets once they learned where we were heading out to. I would recommend bundling up at the top because it is chilly and you are there for a while.

Very interesting (info) and beautiful guided tour
Reviewed by: B Simmons, 2020/03/12The road to Hana (the ACTUAL road) is long and arduous at times. Through tropical rain forest style topography, this part of the island is deep in native history - stories and parables that influence life there to this day. The road is often VERY VERY narrow, and many miles of it, dirt and unpaved. Besides it not being a great idea to put your rental car through that, its much more comfortable taking the guided tour. Our tour guide was highly knowledgeable and shared with us many stories of the rich history. Several stops along the way to swim in pools below waterfalls, have lunch and numerous photo-op stops at black beaches and shoreline vistas. It makes for a LONG day, but well worth it.

Reviewed by: 将来輝かしき苦労娘, 2020/01/25初めてのマウイ島、ハレアカラ山頂のサンライズツアーに参加しました。よく分からなかったのがリコンファームが必要と書いてあり、不安ながら参加前日に催行会社へ電話をしましたが・・、あれが良く分かりませんでした。当日、ほぼ時間通りにバスが迎えに来てくれました。私以外すべて外国人でした。席を決められており、そこには日本語のパンフレット、日本語のオーディオガイド(要リクエスト)をご準備いただきました。暗い中を走り、あっという間にハレアカラ山頂へ到着。サンライズまでの待ち時間、風も強く本当に寒いです。だいぶ防寒対策をしてツアーに参加したつもりでしたが、それでも寒かったです。しかしいざ太陽が昇ってくると明るさと温かさを感じ、自然の偉大さを体で感じることができました。景色が本当に素晴らしいです。マウイ島に来ることがあれば、また参加したいです。

貴重な経験でした

以前、ハワイ島でマウナケアのサンセットツアーに参加していたので、今回は是非サンライズを、と思って参加しました。
ハレアカラのサンライズは本当に貴重な体験になりました。
雄大な雲海から昇ってくる太陽はなんとも言い難く。真っ暗で寒さに震えながら太陽を待っていた空間が、太陽によって一気に明るくあたたかく輝いたものに変化していくのは、体験してこそわかるもの。星空も抜群でしたが、移りゆく空の色の美しさはなんとも言えません。
山頂には大勢の観光客が場所とりをして、1時間ほど待っています。
防寒具は必須。私たちは冬用のヒートテックのシャツにダウン、帽子や手袋も準備していましたが、それでもズボンを二枚ばきにすれば良かったと後悔しました。カイロも必須です。寒さに過敏な日本人は特にかも。
ただし、行き帰りは普通にTシャツの軽装の方がよく、バス車内で脱ぎ着ができるように準備しておいた方が良いと思います。バスには荷物を置いておけるので。
残念だったこと。
日本語のオーディオをリクエストしていましたが、結局何もないまま。
英語ガイドしかサンライズはないので覚悟はしていましたが、VERTRAさんのHPには2人に1台貸し出し、とあっていたので少し期待していました。サンライズを観るについては、他の人と同じように動いていれば大丈夫だったのですが、行き帰りのガイドさんの説明など、こちらの英語力の乏しさもあって殆どわからず。残念でした。
朝食はゴルフ場で。自分の好きなメニューを選べます。
こちらの朝食は本当に美味しかったです。
ただ、座席の配分をガイドさんが上手に手配してくれず、私たちだけ2人と1人に分かれて朝食を取りました。日本のような細やかなサービスを求めるのは難しいとはわかっていますが、ガイドさんのもう一手間が欲しかったです。
ハレアカラはサンセットの日本語ツアーも人気です。
英語が得意、夜中の出発もOKの方はサンライズツアーも大いにありかと思いますが、今度、もしマウイに行く機会があればサンセットに参加したいと思います。もしくは、ハレアカラを自分でドライブするのが良いかもしれません。道路については一本道ですので、迷うこともなく。ただし日中に。

綺麗な星空と日の出でした。

お天気も良く日の出もとても綺麗でした。
山頂では風が強く、体感温度はかなり低かったです。ヒートテックにダウン、下は裏起毛のスウェットパンツでしたが寒くて足先の感覚は無くなりました。レッグウォーマーや手袋、毛糸の帽子等の準備はされた方が良いかも。
1人で参加、他に日本人はいませんでしたが、ツアーに参加される方も良い方ばかりで気さくに声をかけていただきました。
おかげで楽しいツアーになりました。

sexy sunrise ！
Reviewed by: fantastic, 2019/12/29太陽は、肝心なところで雲隠れしてしまいましたが、素晴らしいドライバー兼ガイドのネリさんの言によれば、5パーセント程度での確率でしか見ることの出来ないセクシーサンライズ！を拝むことが出来てラッキーでした。
とにかく、このハレアカラツアーで一人しかいないという女性ドライバーのネリさんは、ガイドはこの上なく上手く、ドライブテクニックも完璧でした。
さて、8月16日のツアーでしたが、とにかく寒くヒートテックのタートルネックにウルトラライトダウンを着込んでも震えが来るような体感温度でした。
耳あて、ホッカイロ、毛布ようなマント？のようなものも備えとしてあれば良かったかと思います。
なお、同乗者はドイツ、アメリカ(サンフランシスコ、シカゴなど)のメンバーでしたが、十分に楽しむことが出来ました。
英語のガイドですが、何となく半分程度は理解出来たと思いますが、特に問題はありませんでしたよ。
