Kauai
My wife and I had a great time on the boat, the
Captain was very good at knowing the laws governing the missle base, he slowed going up the coast after hearing over the radio they were going to launch a missle. He and the crew kept a sharp eye on the surface for any ocean activity that he could get close to while we slowed, when we got past the site he showed us some incredible scenery on the Na pali shore, my wife and I thought it was the most beautiful area we have ever seen. The snorkeling part was the only draw back, it just seemed like we were the ten thousand and one boat load of people to visit that spot. The water was nice but it was just a time killer. Overall it was worth the money and the time, The Captain and Crew did a great job, it was well worth the trip.
Sorry have not downloaded any pictures yet.
The Frisby's
The Smith's Luau was amazing, great food, drink and the best entertainment I have enjoyed at a Luau , the Pork was delightful, and a very nice choice of foods to pick from. I really was impressed on the whole evening as the Smiths really have it down to a tee ,for organization, also great customer service and never ending smiles ...the grounds were spectacular !. I would definatley go back . Aloha !
The boat ride was so-so, the comentary was great but with a covered ride it was difficult to see the attractions. Upon arrival we were amazed at the folage and the Fern Grotto, very impressive, would I do it again ? no, been there done that but would reccomend to first timers to the Island.
The whole experience was terrific. The food was delicious and the entertainment was great. Thank you!!!
We had a great time and really enjoyed the cruise.
Smith's Luau was a wonderful experience for us. I brought my daughter and 3 grandsons ages 9, 10, and 12, and we all enjoyed it. The grounds are perfect, the staff is very professional, and the show was excellent. The food was great, it was the best pig I have ever eaten. When I go back to Kauai, I will definately go back for another of the Smiths' Family Luau. Thanks for having us and sharing your beautiful grounds with us.
The food was very good. I have seen shows at other luaus that I enjoyed more. This show seems to be family members and I prefer the shows that seek the best talent.
On time, friendly, engaging. Always worth a trip to see the Grotto.
The cruise was very relaxing with the cool breeze on your face. It would even be better if you had hammock, but i do realize that maybe impossible.
The cruise was short but sufficient for the price. I recommend taking the 3:30 cruise and then going to the Smith Luau right beside the docks. Excellent site and entertainment and also worth the price.
What made this trip enjoyable was the entertaining crew members!
We really enjoyed the entertainment aboard the boat. It was nice to see the fern grotto even if it wasn't as spectacular as the picture shown. Mother Nature has a way of changing things.
This is the second time I have taken this cruise, and I remember it being better before. Granted, part of the reason is not being able to go up to the actual Fern Grotto (one was able to walk through it before). It is a very pretty site, but I'm not sure that it is worth the price.
I have been to the Smith's Luau many times as a couple and with family and friends over the years. As a child I went to the Fern Grotto with members of the Smith family on their private boat long before it became commercialized. I highly recommend these activities to anyone. The entire family makes everyone feel a personalized welcome and are anxious to make your occasion very special.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the show.Every part of the show was first class.
This was a great event. We enjoyed the tour, the food and the luau. We had a great time.
We had a great time. The Smith family was great! Beautiful place.
Great experience and value.
A very relaxing ride. The entertainment was a lot of fun. The Grotto was very beautiful.
This was a great experience. We did the Fern Grooto tour just before the luau and had a totally wonderful experience. I would definately recomend this to anyone.
Wonderful trip, class act, very good value.
The boat ride was very relaxing with the great music, and the grotto itself was gorgeous. cant wait to go back and see it again.
From 5 PM, you can either ride the electric tram for an hour or take a walk to explore the garden. If you're short on time, you just need to arrive at the venue by 6 PM. I was really looking forward to the sacred ritual of 'imu' (digging up the pig), but it turned out to be just two men digging in the ground, which felt a bit underwhelming. Most of the participants seemed to be Westerners. There were many tour groups, and after the imu ceremony, we moved to the dining area. As expected, it was quite crowded, making it difficult to find a seat. Seats were reserved for tour guests, so individual customers had to find their own, and with so many foreigners around, I was worried I wouldn't be able to get a seat. Once seated, it was cocktail time, and drinks like Mai Tais were plentiful. Beer and various cocktails could be ordered at the counter for free. After that, we went in line to get buffet food, but I didn't understand the English instructions at all, so I mistakenly took food before it was my turn. During the meal, there was live band music, which was nice, but since we had to move to a different area for the luau, I felt I couldn't relax and ended up moving to the next venue early. This moving around was a hassle and felt unsettling. The luau lasted an hour and featured a stage with elaborate lighting. The concept was to dance from various countries across the Pacific and promote friendship, and there was even a Japanese dance, but for some reason, the song title was "Ka~rasu naze naku no~," which was quite puzzling for Japanese people. The final fire dance was spectacular, and I wished they had shown more of that. It felt more like watching a show rather than experiencing a traditional luau.
