Kauai
We truly enjoyed the luau at Smith's Tropical Paradise! Beautiful gardens, many picture opportunities, great food, excellent show! I love the family atmosphere at this luau and the hospitality that is extended to everyone. The show teaches about the many different people who settled in the Hawaiian islands. We always recommend this luau when we meet other travelers. It is an enjoyable and well-paced evening of great food and entertainment!
Every time we come to Kauai we take this River Cruise. It is so relaxing and the ride on the Wailua is calm and you don't have to paddle! We love the entertainment at Fern grotto as well as the fun on the way back to the dock. Everyone we have taken has enjoyed it! We always take this cruise right before going to the luau. A wonderful value too!
We had the best trip you can get to the Napali Coast! The weather did it's best to blow away the clouds, but also made the sea rough so we got lots of fun in the waves and went wet in the front of the boat. After half an hour we were completely soaked and decided to go to the back were it is almost dry. There you also have a god view but it is rather bumpy than on the front of the boat. We had a nice and sunny view along the coastline of Kauai. Compared to our trips by helicopter and car the boat trip is the most relaxing way to see the coast and for us the most impressive. The height of the cliffs of Na Pali Coast is best seen from the bottom. From up in the air you'll get a great overview but you wouldn't see the whole scenery. The buffet on board was well organized and we had some delicious snacks on our tour. The crew took very good care of us all along the trip and offered very often to take pictures of us in the beautiful scenery. Nearby the harbor we made an additional stop to watch out for wales and turtles which are often seen on that place. Unfortunately we didn't find any turtle or wale but a lot of flying fish. The beautiful sunset with a glass of champagne was the right ending of a beautiful day on sea. MAHALO to Capt. Kelly and the crew Aaron, Jake and Max!
Aloha,
Thank you for your kind review and for choosing Holoholo Charters!

We had 7 vacation days to take in as much of Kauai as we could, and we had booked our helicopter ride a month before we took it, but at the moment we were to get on the helicopter, the ride was cancelled due to poor weather. Can't fault them for that, in fact we appreciated that they cared enough for our safety and enjoyment of the ride by cancelling it when they felt compelled to. Fortunately, we were able to re-book 2 days later, and by then we had explored enough of the island to have a good idea what we were looking at once we were up in the air. This made the helicopter trip that much more valuable to us once we got up there. I had two cameras with me on the ride, taking both stills and videos the entire time, and now, a few weeks after the trip and having reviewed their and my photoraphy work, I've come to realize that the video of our trip that we bought from Blue Hawaiian Helicopters was BETTER quality than most of my videos, and I probably should have spent more time enjoying the ride than worrying about getting the shots. So if you go, be sure to buy the DVD or SD card of your ride, and don't be too concerned about taking pictures or videos. Although the ride was expensive, it was well worth the cost because you would never really see Kauai like you do in a helicopter ride, and Blue Hawaiian Helicopters gives a First Class ride!
If you don't know what to do with your time allotted to satisfying curiosity, take this cruise. It offers usual Hawaiian fare of beautiful scenery not accessible otherwise, enthusiastic entertainment complete with hula dance, and a photo op against inaccessible fern grotto
Was an excellent day well spent. Juan was an exceptional guide providing interesting insight. Timing was superb and food was exceptional. Well worth the money.Juan made it so,
Alan was a wonderful teacher! There were three of us in his group; a pre-teen boy, a 30 something Mom & me, the 50 something Mom. After straightforward and practical advice on land, we “hit the waves” and all three of us got up our very first time. The experience was exhilarating. I loved every minute of it. Alan was experienced, friendly, patient and had plenty of positive reinforcement. I would do it again in a heartbeat if I didn’t have to come back to Canada. It’s one of my best memories of Hawaii; thank you Alan!
Great food and drinks. Show was really nice. However, I suggest not to go on a rainy day. Can't enjoy the beautiful grounds like I would have liked. Tables a little too close together, couldn't move or relax easy like a luau should be.
Boring... Crowded and fern grotto was pretty but....
Because we were off season my husband and I were the only ones that signed up for a kayaking tour - so we got a private tour with a guide. Our guide, Christian, was very friendly, familiar with the area and so helpful to have along. Being I had never kayaked before he went over safety features and the easiest way to get in and out of a kayak! The kayaking was easy (gorgeous views along the river), the hike was fun (mud up to my knees) the waterfall at the end was beautiful. It was a very successful trip and would very happily do it all again.
The views and scenery were stunning. We had a family of 4 in 2 helicopters but they were not fully prepared for us. Better timing would have made this activity exceptional.
Short and sweet ... the tour of the grounds was lovely; the food and mai tai's were superior; but the dances needed some umph! That was a sad ending to an event that started great.
My husband, 18-yr-old daughter, and 20-yr-old son completely enjoyed everything about this day adventure. I was unable to participate -- I have a bad knee and wear a brace, and it was recommended that it would be risky for me. Afterwards, my husband said that that was the right decision -- there's a bit of hard work in getting through the mud to the falls. The guide shared interesting local information throughout the day, it was beautiful, fun, active. would do it again. Thank you!
This is a must entertainment was awsome and the cruise up the river was great very relaxing weather couldnt have been better and the Luau is a must execellent food and drinks
Aloha! A big thank you to our amazing snuba diving instructors for making this activity both safe and exciting. We loved being able to breath under water and enjoy the freedom to experience the beautiful world underneath the ocean. We will be back in May! Mahalo, Danny and Diane
Glad you enjoyed the experience. Hope to see you again in May..
A nice afternoon and evening with the cruise along the river to the waterfall with entertainment followed by a ride / walk thru the gardens, a good meal drinks and good entertainment. I enjoyed the evening Thankyou
It was a nice way to start the afternoon before the Smith's Tropical Paradise Garden Luau
I have attended this Luau and Show several times and highly recommend it to everyone! Even though it rained during the show this time, it was still very well done and the audience was very receptive of the dancing and entertainment! The food was wonderful, as always!!!
Very lovely experience and I would recommend everyone participate in this adventure.
I participated without hotel pickup. The meeting place was a bit vague, but it was fine as long as I approached someone who looked like they were part of the group.
We launched the kayaks into the river for about 30 minutes. Since I wasn't used to it, I fell quite behind. After that, we walked for over an hour on muddy paths and through brush, although there weren't many ups and downs.
We had lunch while enjoying the view of the waterfall, and then we headed back. The lunch was quite substantial, making it tough to carry on the way there.
This tour allows you to truly experience the nature of Kauai.
Great kayak and hike tour. Our guide, Nick, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Lunch was better than expected. The swim at the end was cold but refreshing. Definitely worth the money and time spent.
Staff was friendly and very helpful throughout the whole trip. Lunch and beverages were adequate. Would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Kauai.
We couldn't be happier to hear it! Thank you so much for joining us and for sharing your phenomenal review! Mahalo and Aloha
I spent a consideral amount of time researching some of the different options for sight seeing tours of the Napali Coast and found this to have the best reviews and all of them were 100% accurate. My girlfriend and I had been very active on our trip to Kauai up to this point and looked to this as a relaxing evening which it was. The Caiptain (his name escapes me) was very funny throughout the trip making sure to update us when we were near items of interest and was also a very skilled navigator, at one point situating the stern of the boat under a waterfall for people who wanted to go under it.
The two deck hands (I am not sure the proper title) were very attentive to all of the guests aboard throughout the entire trip. I forget the gentelmens name that I spoke with but he stood with me for some time explaining to me much of the history of the Napali Coast as well as what it has been like growing up on the Island which made my experience even better. The crew does whatever it takes to make sure you have the best experience possible and my tip to you is to tip them accordingly, they do a great job and deserve it!
I highly recommend this to anyone interested in having an informative relaxing experience. Also, the food was very good and the crew made sure that you always had a drink in your hand.
Thank you so much for joining us and for sharing your great review! Mahalo and Aloha
The river was fine, but Maka made it a really fun couple hours. Great dude. Have fun in Vegas, buddy!
saw a lot and learn a lot on the tour. A beautiful tour!
Excellent tour. Our guide (Juan) gave us an unforgettable day. Not only was the scenery spectacular but Juan also managed to pass on the story of the Hawaiian people and Kauai as experienced by himself through his life growing up on the island. Juan is to be commended and the tour highly recommended. We also took other tours operated by Polynesian Adventure Tours and they were also of a very high standard.
We enjoyed the lush surroundings, however, it cannot compare to our previous trip which was many years ago. At that time we were able to actually walk into the Fern Grotto and listen to the singers in the grotto. We did enjoy the entertainment on our return trip back to the dock.
This tour is awesome! So much more than expected! The family/crew were all very nice and very entertaining! I would recommend this tour to anyone looking to learn a little bit of island history and relax on the comfortable boat!
This was one of the highlights of our trip. Great tour!! Our guide Kelly was awesome. He felt a little embarrassed when he wiped out in the mud, but what a great time. A definite must do in Kauai.
Was definitely worth the time! I would have liked to be able to approach the grotto, but our guide was magnificent & the boat team made it a very enjoyable trip. Talented dancer & singers! We will cherish this memory!
