Hawaii
It was the best experience.
I have ridden most of the thrill rides in the country, but the excitement I felt during skydiving surpasses anything I've experienced in the past.
The "fear" at the moment of jumping from 4,000 meters, the "excitement" while falling, and the "view" after the parachute opens are beyond words.
Before you jump, you have to sign a waiver that means "everything is at your own risk," but if you have even 1% interest in skydiving, you should definitely try it. Even with 99% anxiety and fear, the friendly and skilled staff will make it enjoyable.
If you have a partner or friends, please do it together; I think it will create unforgettable memories.
Unfortunately, my partner was too scared to jump from a 5-meter cliff, so they ran away, and I couldn't share the excitement with them. Also, I was embarrassed by my face in the video recording.
Finally, I want to express my gratitude to all the staff who took care of us and say, "Thank you!" and "Skydiving is the best!!!"
The whole evening was very imformative. From finding out that the very program itself helps educates our young to learning about other places around the world. I have no doubt that the program has and will continue to offer a very unique learning experience for those that are at BYU and to those that attend the Polynesian Cultural Center for entertainment. All the work that was put into the shows to make them both unique and entertaining comes out in every aspect of the center itself. As we will be living here for at least the next 3 years, when we have guests it will be one of the features of Oahu that I recommend.
this is definitely the activity for you. The staff aboard the boat are very friendly and knowledgeable (thanks Jeremy and Phillip!), and there WILL be sharks. I've actually been on a dive with sharks without a cage, so this wasn't as breathtaking for me, but if you've never seen sharks in the wild, I highly recommend this activitiy.
This activity is exceptional & absolutely delivers!
As a group of three we boarded the North Shore boat in various stages of hangover from an international conference. One mate was viciously seasick, another repeatedly seasick and I was moderately seasick (only had to hang my head over the boat once). It is a testament to this excursion that although we all felt absolutely awful we thought it was AMAZING and would do it again in a heartbeat.
Do not pass up the opportunity to see these incredible animals in crystal clear deep waters. Be sure to have something for motion sickness as it is a bumpy ride on the boat and in the cage.
Two years ago, I went horseback riding at Kualoa Ranch on a course where you could choose two types of rides. I was riding the lead horse, and when the group fell behind, I was told it was okay to go ahead, so I let the horse take me through the magnificent scenery that served as the filming location for Jurassic Park. I can't forget that experience, and this time I hope to ride for two hours.
My husband, who came with me, rode in a buggy, and I was the only Japanese person on horseback. Although I was at the back this time, the female staff member who stayed close to us was kind and beautiful, so I felt no anxiety at all.
We were the only Japanese guests on the shuttle from our hotel in Waikiki. The driver didn't speak any Japanese, but the shuttle had "Kualoa" written on it, so it was easy to identify the meeting point, and everything was fine. The horses move in a line obediently, allowing us to take photos while riding and enjoy the scenery. We had to leave our bags in lockers, and it might be better to hang the camera around your neck.
At the site, we signed a form and wrote down our ages, and I couldn't help but laugh at how much older I was than everyone else. The two hours flew by, and it felt like a dream, but my backside did get a little sore.
We really had a great time at the center and learned a great deal. You really need to get a guide to get the most information on each village and so you don't end up going in circles or getting lost in the center. The guide keeps you on track and know when the shows are scheduled and the best places to sit. The food was exceptional. Our seats were in the sun and we wish we could have sat in the shade....that was our only complaint. The sun didn't stay up long and we soon forgot about it. Overall we had a really great time and would do it again!
Cousin Henry (our driver and guide) was fantastic! He made the trip. Very informative, and spoke from experience. Food was good, not amazing, but plentiful. Evening show took awhile to get interesting, but then look out! Fire show was incredible. Don't miss the demonstrations before the luau!! We thought the cost was a little pricy, but the experience was just wonderful.
I totlally enjoyed this.
I participated in the 2-hour tour at Kualoa Ranch (with transportation included). Among about ten people, we were the only two Japanese.
It was my first time doing tourist horseback riding, and also my first time riding in Western style, so I was a bit anxious, but the horses were very well-trained, so there were no problems at all. However, it really is just a tourist horseback riding experience. Naturally, there are no canters or trots. You just walk while enjoying the magnificent scenery. So, it might feel a bit lacking for experienced riders.
As for the staff, there were many Americans, and unfortunately, they tend to focus on serving those guests. Well, since the conversation flows well, I suppose it's understandable... The weather was also nice, making it a good experience for leisurely horseback riding.
I participated in the advanced course at Gunstock Ranch with my sister. If you're coming from Waikiki, I think it's easy to aim for the Polynesian Cultural Center as a landmark.
We were asked how much experience we had riding horses, and after doing some trotting in the circle, we set off. After walking along the mountain path, we suddenly broke into a canter through the woods. When the lead horse, Sara, started running, my horse quickly followed suit, and my sister's horse behind me joined in as well.
We ran quite a bit. It was my first time cantering in Western style, and I was a bit worried, but it turned out to be quite easy even with the long stirrups. It felt really good.
While observing the condition of the trail, we then trotted up and down the hills. At the top, Sara picked some guava fruit for us and took some pictures. The descent offered beautiful scenery, so we leisurely walked.
The weather was great, and it was a very fulfilling hour. If I have the chance, I would love to visit Gunstock Ranch again.
Unforgettable. Amazing. Incredible. Awesome. Those are just a few! This was truly an adventure of a lifetime. Enjoyed every second on that boat.
I would definately recommend the twilight package. Some of the villages are closed and there is not enough time to do EVERYTHING there is to do, but I could not see staying there all day. The best part is the Horizon's night show; this is FANTASTIC and definately worth it. I feel that the cost is a little high, but it's vacation and this an experience you won't get elsewhere.
Great place to visit! I recommend mapping out your desitnations, so that you don't miss anything...we saw just about everything in the 5 hours we were there (didn't do the night dinner/ show...felt it would be too exhausting after a whole day of show-watching at the center.) Get there early! Enjoy! P.S. If you drive, there are some scenic spots and great beaches in the area.
This was a great trip and exceeded our expectations. Seeing sharks circling up from the deep to come and feed in close attendence with Trumpetfish and a random Tuna was a sight I will never forget. The water was so blue and clear that it was like watching on film. If there is one thing that you do when you go to Hawaii then this should be it. With the correct balance between ecology, safety and fun this must be the best activity by a mile and it still leaves time for surfing in the afternoon! Brilliant.
This was our second time and again thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Food was good. Staff/students were quite helpful and the performers were certainly talented. Our driver was prompt, knowledgeable and went out of his way to be attentive. We definitely recommend this to families of all ages.
My wife and I were disappointed with the buffet that was served. We were expecting traditional Hawaiian food like Kalua pig - but ended up with chicken. On a more positive note, the Polynesian dancing was good.
We, cannot stop talking about our day. Our guide Melody was more than wonderful. We enjoyed her tremendously, she was so knowledgable it was amazing. Everyone should visit this location. Everyone was friendly and nice.
I enjoyed a two-hour horseback riding experience with my daughter. During the brief explanation, I was told that since horses are living creatures, they can't guarantee 100% safety, which made me a bit anxious. However, it was a lot of fun to navigate through the great outdoors while handling the reins myself. Each horse has its own personality; there was one that kept eating grass no matter how many times we stopped, and my horse, Blackie, walked slowly and needed to be pulled by the staff a couple of times. It was adorable to see him struggling to climb the hill. After two hours, my backside was definitely sore, but I was very satisfied with the experience.
This was a brilliant trip and definitely one of the highlights of my holiday. To be just inches away from a 12ft Tiger Shark is a remarkable experience. Also got some brilliant pictures with my underwater camera. Loads of big sharks, crystal clear waters, friendly and knowledgable staff - a real must-do!
The description of the Falls "hike" should be reworded to "casual stroll". All the interesting parts that might be qualified as hikes were barred as off limits for falling rock or just closed off. Also, the change in elevation was laughable. It was more like going to a park.
The waterfall actually had water, but not enough water yet for swimming, which was teh main point of it. That part was very underwhelming.
The snorkeling on teh beach was great. Amazing area and great knowledgeable staff/tour guides. highly recommend that part.
This has been our third luau. We have been to a luau in Kona and the Old Lahaina Luau. This year my family and I decided to attend the luau at the Polynesian center since we had heard so much of it. Unfortunately, we were not impressed and actually disappointed. We were treated better at the other two luau's, such as free alcohol drinks and hospitality overall. Your dinner was good, and the waitress attended us well. We were disappoin- ted with the show. I felt I was watching a Las Vegas show and not a cultural, narrative, Polynesian history show. My family and I love to see the grass skirt dances and you had very little of it. We also did not like the auditorium ambiance and everyone running to get ice cream.
What a great experience our dive was. Thank you, for making my first trip to Hawaii and my first dive with sharks the best. I enjoyed every part of this encounter from the staff to the sharks. We would love to do it again someday. Aloha...
Very slow ride but enjoyable, the horses were well taken cared of and treated well.
Great ride out to the site. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. They helped my daughter who did not want to get in the water take great pictures (she is 8). They were great.
We had a great time on this tour, our driver was fantastic, Keao made everyone feel like they were a friend. We had young children in our group and he entertained them a lot of the way, along with the rest of us. Very informative and wonderful way to see the island. Only negative, would have liked to have just a little more time at the Dole Plantation.
Breathtaking, beautiful and relaxing! What more could you want. The staff was very friendly and helpful, would recommend to anyone.
This place is beautiful.
In conclusion, it was a very satisfying experience! We participated as a family of three (all in our 20s). It was our first time on buggies, and during the test run, one of us suddenly went off course, but thankfully, none of us were disqualified... The guide adjusted the pace to match us and was always attentive, which made us feel safe. The scenery during the ride was truly wonderful, but if you get too mesmerized, it could affect your driving. One of us mentioned that they were too focused on driving to enjoy the view. We chose the two-hour course, and the speed was quite relaxed, plus we had plenty of breaks, so I think we completed a one-hour course in two hours. I definitely want to sign up for the two-hour course again next time! I highly recommend it, even for first-timers! However, for those with no experience driving cars or motorcycles, it might be quite challenging to get used to it? I'm really glad I participated in this tour.
A really proffesional activity, the staff were friendly and attentive, funny and informative.
We started the day being scared of sharks and ended up wanting to pat them! Probably not a good idea though as they have big teeth!
This was the best tour of the whole trip. It was probably made that way by the tour guide that we had. Garfield was our guide and he was very informative and well liked. We learned more on this tour even though we had lived on the island before.
