Hawaii
As this was my wife's first trip to Hawaii, we visited the center. I'd never been before either.
We both thoroughly enjoyed the day and our guide. We paid for the Ambassador level and it was worth every penny as you are guided through the center with a personal touch.
The center was very informative and the luau was very good.
We'll be returning again as there is so much to see and learn that it can't be covered in ine day, even with a guide.
The 1 hr was not what I expected.. we barely got on the horses and came back.. at most we have been 20-25 min on the horse. Then we took the 2 hr ride which was quite different and definitely worth it!
They said that the time it takes to get us on the horses is included in this "x hour" ride which it doesn't seem fair to me.. for a large group (12-15 people) it does take 15-20 min to get us all on the horses and get started.. so 25 min left for riding for the 1 hr ride(??).. hmm.. kind of expensive ride..
We were looking for a tour to see the North Shore but have the freedom to do what we want to do....we couldn't have picked a better tour. This is the perfect tour for people looking for freedom to do/go where they want. We had Sam as our tour guide, a native from Hawaii. He was informative and very the perfect style of guide for this tour. Knew what he was talking about, laid back but still detail oriented enough to handle everyone's activities and where they were. We went there the day of the Volcom Pipe Pro at the Pipeline. We rented bikes at the North Shore Surf Shop (an included activity with the tour - no extra charge) and that allowed us to go freely around. We rode up to the surf competition to watch live. The nice part was with the bikes, you were stuck in one spot the whole time. Watched the competition, then rode down the coast to Sharks Cove and Waimea Bay. It was great to have no schedule or "planned activities" when we got there. We had 3 hours to do what we want. Some wanted nothing to do with the surf competition and they could do what they want. Everyone had their own agenda and this tour worked great with it. (For a quick bite to eat, hit up Pupukea Grill. Its a food truck in Sharks Cove with a heavenly flatbread.) Met back next to Sharks Cove for the bus and rode to Haleiwa for the afternoon. Again, free time through the town to experience the city itself or do water activities at Surf N Sea. We wanted to experience the town, so we went into the surf shops, stores and walked around the town itself. (For a great sandwich, hit up Waialua Bakery and Juice Bar next to the grocery store...phenomenal.) For being a smaller town, Haleiwa is a very cool town to experience. After the town, we were to a beach to view the sea turtles that come on shore. It was amazing to see the turtles that close.
Of course, the main focus is horseback riding, but we really do a lot of different activities. It's packed with experiences. We visited the Hitachi Tree, Dole Plantation, saw the honu at North Shore, enjoyed lunch (everyone's favorite, garlic shrimp♪), and then horseback riding. To top it off, our guide kindly recommended a coffee shop!
We were blessed with wonderful weather that day, making it truly a fantastic day.
I am really a beginner at horseback riding; the only experience I have is riding a pony for about five minutes when I was a child. Despite that, this time I suddenly found myself riding a polo horse! Moreover, Happy Trails is a prestigious ranch that even President Obama has visited! It made me think, "Maybe the horse I rode was the same one President Obama rode!" (It was a small mare, so it definitely wasn't, but it made me smile.)
I asked a Japanese couple who joined the same tour (they were quite experienced in horseback riding) and they said, "It's rare to ride a polo horse in Japan, so you can brag about this!" It was truly a valuable experience.
However! As a complete beginner, we started riding for an hour and a half with only verbal instructions! Plus, the path was muddy from the rain the day before... I really thought I might fall off! My friend and I were super nervous, but the polo horses were amazing, following our clumsy commands perfectly for the full hour and a half. Thank you, horses.
The staff at the ranch were also really friendly and it was a lot of fun. Next time, I'm interested in beach horseback riding, but I can't help but think that Happy Trails is still the best!
Until now, Hawaii has been centered around the ocean, and I have felt its wonderfulness. This time, I decided to see it from the sky and challenged myself to skydiving. I might have closed my eyes when I jumped out? The 60 seconds of free fall from 4,000 meters was perfect, and I could see that corner of the North Shore. After the parachute opened, I was posing for the camera, all of them looked the same (laughs). I was deeply moved by the photo of myself reflected against the round horizon. Tandem master Mark put on an amazing show for the five minutes. Thank you!!
Thank you!!
The ride was everything I could ask for and more. One of my favourite things I did while in Hawaii.
We had a wonderful time, but wish we had remembered sunscreen. Staff was very laid back but informative. We saw quite a few whales. Would definitely go again!
It was my first time skydiving. Starting from 14,000 feet is recommended as it seems to be the highest point for tandem skydiving. The instructors are all foreigners, but the precautions and things to do in the air are simple, so there were no particular issues.
TO SKY DIVE HAS ALWAYS BEEN ON OUR BUCKET LIST AND NOW ONE MORE THING CHECKED OFF. JUST AMAZING
Took the 1/2 day excursion but wish I had time to do the full day. There was such a strong feeling of joy and energy during all the performances. The imagine theater, the newest attraction was amazing. The Luau was great the the final performance was amazing, such talent and energy, no shows we saw on the cruise ship we were on could compare
Before you even have a moment to feel scared, you jump into the sky, so even those with a fear of heights can definitely dive. The view was truly amazing!
We had a lot of fun riding along the beach and through the woods. Horses were matched with experience of rider and guide was knowledgeable. Great time!
Good circle trip of island. Saw many beautiful vistas, temple, beaches. Good way to see things you may want to go back to but is a long day. Driver was also tour guide which probably shouldn't have been... Felt that was distracting and dangerous.
excellent. Jason was amazing. His knowledge of the area extensive
One of the things I wanted to experience at least once before I die was skydiving. I had planned to do it with friends, but right before making the reservation, one of them suddenly said they had a fear of heights, so I ended up going alone. To be honest, I was feeling a bit reckless and thought, "If I die doing this, so be it!" and decided to go for it. After actually trying it, I can say that skydiving is amazing!! The instructor was really upbeat and full of spirit. As the last one to jump, instead of falling towards the clear blue sky like everyone else, I was plummeting straight down towards the clouds. Whoa!! I crashed into the clouds! Except for the harness and the part connecting me to the instructor or parachute, I was completely soaked. I was wearing shorts, so my thighs were drenched. It was a bit embarrassing, like I had wet myself, but it seemed to dry a little while I was descending. Thanks to the enthusiastic instructor, after the parachute opened, we were swinging wildly left and right. If someone has a weak vestibular system, they would definitely be throwing up! But it was fun. I'm glad my first time was here!! Regarding the price, I happened to talk to another person who came alone, and they mentioned that if you book on-site, it costs about 1.5 times more for the same altitude jump.
Overall, it was the best experience! I want to do it again!!
I was delighted with the experience I had with this company that allow me to have my first jump ever not only safe and sound, but really enjoying every minute of it. After pick up at the hotel, we had aprox an hour drive to the airfield in North Shore.
After a safety video, my wife and I fortunately didn't have to wait that long to go to meet our instructors and cameraman (I remember that Colorado and Rob were mine respectively). They gave us a briefing on what to do during our jump and answer any questions, and we were ready to go.
We made the ultimate jump, and we were thrilled. The views of the island and the adrenaline you have during the jump are breathtaking.
Our instructors were very professional and made the best they could to give us a great experience and land safely (specially considering that there were some difficult winds during that morning).
I'd recommend anyone to do this jump with this company.
I participated in this tour with my mother. We were looking forward to horseback riding and garlic shrimp in Haleiwa Town. We visited the "This Tree, What Tree" Moanalua Gardens and Dole Plantation, and then had free time in Haleiwa Town, which we were excited about. I had heard that there were frozen garlic shrimp, but I really wanted to try the fresh garlic shrimp. After researching beforehand, I found that Giovanni's or Macky's looked delicious, so I asked the tour guide which one to choose, and it turns out only Macky's has fresh shrimp, so I was glad I asked! It was very delicious! Macky's is located a bit far from the meeting point, and since we only had an hour of free time, I thought we might just have time for lunch, but everyone wanted to go to Macky's, so they kindly took us there. I was happy they were flexible in accommodating us. After eating, they took us back to the meeting point, and we were able to stroll around Haleiwa Town a little. However, I think if we had a bit more time, we could have visited more shops.
The seaside horseback riding was very enjoyable with a nice breeze. The tour guide provided proper English explanations for the horseback riding, so I was able to experience it without any worries. There was a short steep slope along the way that was a bit scary when we had to trot, but as long as you hold on properly, there were no problems. My 59-year-old mother was a little anxious during her second horseback ride, but I think she enjoyed it.
At the very end of the horseback riding, it suddenly started to rain heavily, which made the final photo opportunity and farewell to the horses a bit rushed, which was unfortunate. But the horseback riding was fun and very satisfying. It was a bit disappointing that we couldn't stop at the sea turtle beach due to the heavy rain.
The tour guide provided detailed explanations and shared various stories, so the travel was never boring. The views from the North Shore were amazing! Participating in this tour created wonderful memories of Hawaii!
We participated as a group of four: my 10-year-old son, my 65-year-old mother, my husband, and myself. We chose this plan based on my mother's wish to go horseback riding, but my son ended up completely falling in love with it and didn't want to get off the horse, saying he wanted to go around again. The 90-minute ride through the mountains, with ups and downs, was very enjoyable, and the horses were very well-behaved. If we go to Hawaii again, we will definitely participate again.
I experienced this with my 10-year-old daughter and her friend during Christmas. This was my third time horseback riding in Hawaii, and the scenery, the horses, and the trainers were all amazing! I don't think there's any other horseback riding experience like this, walking along the beach!
Famous from the commercials, we headed to Moanalua Garden and then to Dole Plantation. I was looking forward to lunch, enjoying garlic shrimp with flavors that appeal to Japanese tastes. One of the highlights this time was horseback riding along the beach at Turtle Bay Resort. While watching people surfing, I enjoyed a leisurely ride, listening to the chirping of birds in the forest—such a blissful time. We also encountered a large sea turtle at Laniakea Beach (we stayed within 3 meters of the turtle). It was a tour that made me feel the greatness of nature. Our guide was also fun and full of interesting topics, leaving no time for family squabbles.
It was a sensation I had never experienced before. 14,000 feet was higher than I imagined, and I could see all of the North Shore, Ko Olina Resort, and Diamond Head too! The moment I jumped was scary, but once I was out, I was able to enjoy the best views and speed. Thank you very much!
We participated as a couple with pickup from our hotel in Waikiki. We were so excited to see them up close! It seems that the sharks come closer when they hear the sound of the boat's engine, thinking they might get food, but there was no danger of them attacking. Although Japanese was not spoken on the boat or during the pickup, we were able to communicate somewhat through basic conversation. There is a Japanese translation guide on the boat.
Many people mention seasickness, but I took motion sickness medicine beforehand, so I didn't feel sick at all. It should be fine once you get used to it, but the waves can be quite strong. They ask if you want to film underwater videos. For $65, you get about 10 minutes of MP4 footage on an SD card and a bonus DVD, and after the tour, you can buy an original T-shirt for $30, both of which accept credit cards. You don't have to buy them, but I recommend it as a nice keepsake.
Also, it's definitely better to bring a disposable underwater camera. They were selling them on the boat, but since they don't speak Japanese, it's probably best to bring your own. I took a cheap waterproof digital camera I bought in Japan.
I wanted to do some sightseeing on the North Shore, but since the tour ends with immediate return to Waikiki, it might be a good idea for those familiar with Hawaii to rent a car. There seemed to be places nearby where you could park for free. Additionally, we were lucky enough to see a whale, making it a great tour!
It was my first skydiving experience, and the instructors were kind, with many of them speaking Japanese, so I had a great time! During the fall, you can feel like you're in the wind!
Since my child loves animals, we decided to go horseback riding as a family. Based on reviews mentioning the beautiful scenery, we chose the horseback riding experience at Kualoa Ranch.
We were a bit anxious since we had to gather at the ranch individually, but fortunately, we passed by the ranch on a sightseeing bus we took the day before. Our family rented a car to get there, but it seemed like some people arrived by bus.
In March, the weather in Hawaii can be unpredictable, and it turned out that we rode in heavy rain that morning. Luckily, it cleared up in the afternoon, and the scenery became even more magical. As we swayed on the horse's back in the vast ranch, which has been used for many movie shoots, I felt like I could forget where I was.
Perhaps because the ranch staff had worked in the rain that morning, some of them had a slightly arrogant attitude from a Japanese perspective, but most were kind and helpful. However, I think it would be beneficial to be somewhat accustomed to listening to English. The height of the horse's back was higher than I imagined, and it might be a bit challenging to control the horse while listening to English instructions.
We thoroughly enjoyed our whale watching experience with Captain Don and Deck-hand Shane. We saw more whales than we had expected. The best part of the trip was when a whale surfaced right behind the catamaran. We were all stunned! Definitely a highlight of our Hawaiian vacation.
I participated in this tour because I wanted to experience horseback riding. It was a lot of fun with not just horseback riding, but also a visit to the Dole Plantation and sea turtles among many other activities! The guide shared various experiences and explanations during the drive, making the journey enjoyable as well.
It was my first time riding, and I was quite nervous, but the instructor was there to help, and the horse was calm, so it turned out to be better than I expected. The scenery along the coast was beautiful, but I didn't have much opportunity to enjoy it, so next time I want to take more time to appreciate the views!
My girlfriend and I had an enjoyable ride through Kualoa Ranch on 12/30/13. Our guides were Kai and Karissa ( I believe I got the names right). The terrain in which you ride through is beautiful, it takes your breath away. We learned the history of the ranch and about what has taken place there over the years. Would definitely recommend this to anyone!!
This place was awesome! The wait to dive was a bit long but I was worth it. We got to see a ton of safe landings and witnessed the repacking of the parachutes. It was a great experience and everyone was great. I only wished we upgraded and jumped at a higher altitude.
Last time, we participated in a horseback riding tour in the forest with my child, and we were very satisfied. This time, during the horseback riding experience by the beach, we enjoyed riding while gazing at the beautiful sea. We created another wonderful memory. Before the experience, we leisurely enjoyed a garlic shrimp bento for lunch and took a little stroll around the town of Haleiwa, making for a very fulfilling day. I would love to participate in this tour again.
My 15 year daughter wanted to ride a horse for the first time in Hawaii on the beach. Our experience here was fantastic! Our tour guide was patient and very willing to teach her how to ride. The scenery was beautiful!! I would highly recommend this trip!
Thank you Michelle! We are so happy to hear that you and your daughter enjoyed your ride. Please keep us in mind if you visit again. Aloha
