Hawaii
If you love learning about history, culture and origins then this is the day trip for you. From the smiling and informative tour guide and coach driver down to the guest. Services staff. Everybody had a smile on their faces and they were there to be of assistance at all times.
Our tour guide 'Cousin Mitch' was extremely informative and kept my 6 year old daughter entertained. He got us to all the shows and events on time we didn't miss a thing.
The centre is full of vibrant colours and rich history and watching all the island dances during the boat pagent was amazing.
It was a long day topped off by the amazing evening show which truly took my breath away, was well worth it
I signed up for 14,000 feet. We left Waikiki just after 5:30 AM, signed the waiver on the bus, and arrived at the location before 6:00 AM. We were blessed with clear skies that day, so as soon as we arrived, we had a brief video explanation and then got ready. They asked if we wanted to take photos and videos; I was hesitant about the video, but they said if I didn't like it later, it was fine to just go with photos, so I decided to go ahead with it. (I figured it would be hard to say I didn't want either after trying.)
After a light briefing from the instructor, we waited for about an hour until it was our turn. As soon as the previous group’s plane returned, we boarded and took off right away. There were about six groups on board, I think. Most people were asking for photos. Those who requested them flew together with the instructor and the cameraman.
It took about 15 minutes to reach 14,000 feet. I thought, "Wow, I'm really high up," but the instructor teased me, saying, "It's okay! You're still in the hangar!" as we continued to gain altitude. When we reached 14,000 feet, the plane door opened. They said, "Alright, it's time to jump!" and before I could even resist, I was standing at the door, and with a countdown of 3, 2, 1, we jumped! Actually, the instructor jumped for us. There was no time for fear.
After a couple of spins in the air, we were in free fall for about a minute! We dropped at such a speed that there was no time to feel scared! I desperately tried to look at the cameraman, but I could hardly breathe. After that, the parachute opened, and I finally got to enjoy the breathtaking view of the North Shore coastline! However, as we gradually descended with the parachute, it was genuinely terrifying... I thought I might faint at one point. Laughing.
While enjoying the stunning views until the end, I experienced a level of descent fear that was incomparable to Fuji-Q Highland, and we landed on the ground. By the time we landed, I was completely dizzy and exhausted.
After landing, I checked the photos and videos. I thought both were too expensive, but I was so excited about the incredible experience that I ended up purchasing both. Laughing. Well, if I didn't buy one, it would only remain in my memory. I think I should have at least bought the photos.
So, my first skydiving experience was truly amazing. I'm already thinking about doing it again on my next trip to Hawaii!!!
An amazing experience. Even though the water was extremely rough the day we went, it was still incredible. Our guides were the best too.
We spent 2 nights in Honolulu after a cruise so as we were short on time so this was the best way to see most of the Island. It was an amazing tour, very well organized and saw a lot of places we would never of seen on our own. Our guide Ernie was brilliant, I would highly recommend this tour for anyone staying on the Island.
I experienced it for the first time.
Tomorrow is skydiving...
I was excited from the day before.
When I went to sleep...
I woke up just 10 minutes before the meeting time!!
I was so looking forward to skydiving that I overslept.
There were many Japanese people at the site, but also people from various countries.
The instructors and locals casually talked to us.
Everyone helped ease the tension.
Finally, it was time for the flight—time for skydiving.
It was a brief experience, but it was so much fun.
We were blessed with good weather, and it became a memorable skydiving experience for a lifetime.
It was my first experience.
At first, I thought, "This is scary," and "Will I be okay?" but the instructor was very kind and funny, which helped me overcome my fear.
Then it was time for the flight.
Until I jumped out, I was a little scared, but once I was flying...
In front of me was the entire island of Oahu.
It was so beautiful, and the skydiving experience went by in an instant.
Is it a once-in-a-lifetime experience? Maybe.
No...
I thought I wanted to experience it again.
I can barely swim and I'm too scared to dive even with a snorkel, but my wife is a diver and wanted to do some ocean activities together, so I thought this might work out... and signed up.
The transportation and local arrangements were normal, without any particular issues. We took off our shoes and boarded the boat with about 20 people, of which only about six were Japanese. Along the way, we read a Japanese lecture file.
The sea at the North Shore was somewhat rough, and the boat rocked quite a bit. The Japanese student group that was with us was almost seasick. If you're prone to motion sickness, it's better to skip this. Even after we got into the cage, the waves were rough and it was tough.
I later heard that the North Shore is calm only around July to August. We were able to see sharks up close, so it's a good activity for those who like that, but personally, it was extremely challenging for me... I was overestimating my abilities. My wife was very happy, though.
The people were friendly, the views were great. Since we are experienced riders it would've been nice to do more than a walk but we were aware it was only walk. For the cost we probably wouldn't pick this type of ride again.
I was nervous before riding the horse, but the smart horses gave me a wonderful time. They worked hard to climb steep hills and skillfully avoided muddy areas, making the 90 minutes fly by without any scary moments. The guide also made great use of our time, showing us various places and preparing meals, which made us very happy. My family and I are talking about wanting to participate again!
I think it’s inconvenient because there’s no pickup service and you have to meet on-site, so you need a rental car to get there. Horseback riding along the nearby beach felt monotonous since the course was the same going and coming back. The time was shorter than I expected. The horseback riding at Kualoa had better scenery. If the weather is good, it might offset some of that.
I signed up for canyon horseback riding, but due to bad weather, it was canceled and changed to a seaside course. While the weather is no one's fault, I was really looking forward to it, so it's disappointing. However, I was glad that I could still go horseback riding on the seaside course. Thank you to the guide for being so kind. I will try canyon horseback riding again next year.
I was to scared to go but my friends and family had a great time. The staff was super friendly and understanding.
Glad to know that your family had a great time. Hopefully you will give it another try sometime! Hope to see you soon!
I participated for the first time in five years. This time, it was a one-hour horseback riding session (without transportation), and I drove from my hotel in Honolulu to the location, arriving about 30 minutes before check-in began. There were many participants, including Japanese people, on that day. The weather was decent.
Before riding, we watched a Japanese DVD for instructions and safety precautions (about 3 minutes), and then mounted the horses as instructed by the instructor. We had to wait briefly until everyone in our group was mounted before we could depart. There were about 15 people in our group.
Once the tour started, we lined up and proceeded through the mountains. Occasionally, a horse would start eating grass by the roadside, but a quick tug on the reins would bring it back in line, so there were no issues.
After a complete loop around the property, the tour ended. I think the actual time spent riding was about 30 minutes. It ended so quickly that I felt a bit nostalgic.
There are horseback riding tours available on islands other than Oahu, so I would like to participate in a different tour next time.
The instructor explained everything clearly, allowing us to enjoy the skies of Oahu without fear and have fun. We were also very satisfied with the videos and images.
Great day at the north beach. We chose the waterfall hike as our activity in the morning. You could have done snorkelling or bike rides if preferred. We then had free time on waimea bay beach. In the afternoon we had a free lunch instead of doing another activity such as kayaking. Saw sea turtles at a beach on the way home
It seems we didn't go up to 4000 meters, so we received a partial refund. The view from above was, of course, breathtaking, but the instructor who was in charge was really scary, and I was so tense that my whole body was stiff. Other instructors were much friendlier and smiled a lot, so it varies from person to person. I had planned to ask for photos since I was there, but I found out that each person had to pay individually instead of as a group, and it was quite expensive, so I gave up on that.
We had an awesome driver named Allen who was hauling his way to get to the Polynesian cultural center even through the pouring rain. Even though we purchased the late night entry, we still had a great time with our tour guide and was able to go to a few of the more larger exhibits. Each land has their own exhibit, or a mini show varying from 15-30 minutes. My favorite was the Samoas. The dinner was a buffet style luau with the hula girls and boys, and the children. Half day is more than enough time to go through the park. There was also a canoe ride that operates every 15 min but we missed it since we were the last wave to enter the park. The show at the end called HA, the breathe of life was an amazing show!
The guide was Japanese, and since it was a tour with only Japanese people, I enjoyed hearing various deep stories about Hawaii in the van. The guide was a great storyteller and a fun person.
On this day, the North Shore had high waves due to the typhoon, and it seemed that the turtles couldn't come up to the beach, so there were no turtles at Turtle Bay. However, they took us to another beach where we could see turtles on the way back!
For lunch, they took us to a recommended shrimp restaurant, and it was really delicious. The seaside horseback riding plan was just the right length at 45 minutes, and it felt great. The horses weren't startled by the sound of the waves, and they were all calm, but some horses got really into eating grass during the ride, which seemed challenging for the riders (laughs). The riders looked like they were having fun despite the struggles.
I think it's a tour that people of all ages, from children to the elderly, can enjoy.
Not only was the horseback riding experience enjoyable, but I also got to visit Moanalua Gardens, Dole Plantation, and Haleiwa, which made for a fulfilling trip! Even though it wasn't part of the original plan, I was glad that I could also visit the North Shore Soap Factory and Honolulu Coffee upon request!
Best experience ever. Highly recommended. I wasn't able to make Ultimate one due to the weather. Definitely will try that one again in the future.
It is a very special experience to see sharks that closely in the water. But you will get bored very soon since you'll see the same thing for the entire 20 mins.
Excellent guide, very knowledgeable about horses, Hawaiian scenery, and informative about Hawaiian economy. The ride itself was absolutely goregous and the beauty of the trail and ocean was so beautiful it is difficult to describe. Definately worth the money and a must if you are on the North Shore.
Only suggestion is that the address needs to be be more specific and signs would be nice.
Rained most of day, so sopping wet weather in water or not. Confusion all day about activities etc.
The park is worth to visit, food just ok but the show at night is so good and make the day worth it.
Wife and I loved this tour. She was nervous going into it but once we got out there and she saw the other two groups go in prior to ours it helped to calm her nerves. The crew was great and very knowledgeable about the area and what we were seeing.
We felt very safe the entire time and thought the water was so blue and clear. Visibility in the cage was about 100ft in either direction.
Only thing I would suggest is to make sure you take something for Motion sickness prior to going out like we did. There were several on the boat who got sick several times while we were stationary next to the cage and a few others that got sick while in the cage.
It was a bucket list item for us and we are so happy we did it. We also got their video package which was $75 for a SD card recording of our time in the cage.
The tour guide was not that good, spoke in a soft voice and let the passengers talk too much so it was hard to concentrate on what she was saying.
It's a once in a lifetime thing and it did not disappoint at all. Loved every minute of it. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I would love to jump again. Chico is great. Mahalo.
