After visiting the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor on November 18, 2025, I went to the Battleship Missouri Memorial. I was able to make an online reservation before departing from Japan, which made my visit very reassuring.

The Battleship Missouri was launched in January 1944 and participated in the Iwo Jima and Okinawa landings. On September 2, 1945, it served as the venue for the signing ceremony of the surrender documents between the Allied forces led by General MacArthur and the Japanese government delegation led by Foreign Minister Shigemitsu.

Later, in 1950, it was deployed during the Korean War, and although it was decommissioned in 1955, it was reactivated in 1986. It participated in the Gulf War in 1991, was decommissioned again in 1992, and arrived at Pearl Harbor in 1998, opening as a memorial the following year. The Missouri is referred to as the last battleship because it was the last to be completed and the last to be decommissioned.

There are Japanese-speaking volunteer guides on board who provide detailed information about the history of the Missouri, its main guns, and the surrender document signing ceremony, so I recommend requesting a guide.

There is a counter at the entrance where you can check in. After the guided tour, you can freely explore the ship. You can visit various areas of the battleship that are not typically accessible, including the bridge, the dining areas for senior officers and sailors, the sleeping quarters, and the ship's post office, making it a valuable experience.

2025年11月18日にパールハーバーのアリゾナ記念館を見学後、戦艦ミズーリ記念館を訪れました。
日本出発前にオンラインで予約が出来、安心して訪問する事が出来ました。
戦艦ミズーリは1944年１月に進水後、硫黄島上陸作戦や沖縄上陸作戦に参加し、1945年9月2日マッカーサー元帥率いる連合軍側と、重光葵全権率いる日本政府代表団との間で、東京湾上で行われた降伏文書調印式の会場となりました。
その後1950年に朝鮮戦争に出動、1955年に一度退役しましたが、1986年に再就役し、1991年に湾岸戦争に出動、1992年に再度退役し1998年にパールハーバーに到着し、翌年から記念館として公開されています。
ミズーリは最後に完成し最後に退役した事から最後の戦艦と呼ばれています。
艦内では日本語のボランティアガイドが常駐していて、ミズーリの歴史や主砲、降伏文書調印式の様子などを詳しく教えてくれますから、ガイドを依頼する事をお勧めします。
艦に登った所にカウンターがありそこで受付をしています。
ガイド終了後は自由に艦内を見学出来ます。艦橋を始め上級士官や水兵の食堂、寝室、艦内の郵便局など、普通目にする事が出来ない戦艦の様々な場所を見学出来るので貴重な体験です。

We were told to meet at the Southwest Ticket counter in Maui and no one was there. We talked to an agent with Hawaiian Airlines & told her of our delema & after entering our driver's license # she said we were confirmed on their flight to Honolulu. She was very kind & helped us tremendously.
Next problem was where to meet Sunshine Tours. There wasn't a clear direction as to the meeting place. That was two things where there was no clear direction.
Our tour guide was excellent. He was very informative & very much a people person. We couldn't have gotten anyone better.

This was the one tour that my soon-to-be husband wanted to do since he is a big World War II fan. Our favorite part was visiting the USS Arizona and the aerial museum. The audio tour at Pearl Harbor was insightful for myself not knowing as much as my partner. It was a very long day and we were very hot when we got to the USS Missouri. The guides were knowledgeable and friendly. Loved the pick up and drop off at our hotel.

Before signing up, my wife was scared of the Cessna, but once we got on, there was very little turbulence and it was no problem at all.

We flew carefully over the East Coast from above Waikiki (the pilot circled around the area because there were reports of whales).

The scenery changed dramatically from the North Shore to the airport, and we enjoyed that as well.

We weren't able to go on the memorial, I understand that, but Ranger who talked on the boat over should be given another job! One, she had to read off a paper about what happened on Dec-7. many times she lost her place and had to start over! If I couldn' t remember what happend I'd give on my job! Volunteer on Missouri was terrific,older retired military, very good presentation,knew what the hell he was talking about unlike the woman Ranger!

My first encounter with the Cessna was quite an impression; it felt pretty small. It was a four-seater, and we were divided between the back seat and the co-pilot seat. Taking off from the same runway at Honolulu Airport where we landed from Haneda, we flew at a lower altitude than commercial planes, so the view was refreshing. From the sky, I could clearly see the caldera situation of Diamond Head. Since we had a Japanese pilot, he provided various explanations about the scenery, making it an enjoyable sightseeing flight. However, it was quite bumpy due to the wind. In the latter half of the flight, I started to lose the ability to enjoy the scenery and began to feel motion sickness. I have experienced helicopter tours in Japan, but this was my first time on a doorless helicopter in Hawaii. On the day of the flight, there were clouds and wind, and once we took off, it was quite bumpy 😨 I wondered if I would tell the pilot that I was a bit worried, but I guess that's just how it is in Hawaii. Despite the slight turbulence, the pilot remained completely unfazed, calmly explaining the spots we were flying over (I couldn't understand anything since I don't speak English, though! (laughs)).

That said, the view of Hawaii from above was amazing. It's a bit pricey, but I think it's worth it! Seeing Diamond Head from the sky was incredible! However, I read in previous reviews that they used to lend out phone cases for free, but now it's $5. Also, during the flight, they took dozens of photos from almost the same angle... I bought them as a keepsake. So, I give it four stars (laughs). But the experience is definitely worth it!
