Hawaii
At the summit, the rain and wind were strong, and I couldn't see the crater or the sunset at all. However, the only saving grace was that I saw a very beautiful rainbow along the way.
After racing along the dirt paths of the jungle while explaining the surroundings and enjoying the vast scenery, it was a bit disappointing to feel increasingly deflated during the movie set tour and the visit to the farmer's living area. If we were going to explore similar spaces, it might have been better to have different experiences like horseback riding or cycling. I wish there had been clearer explanations of the activities during the booking phase.
Best experience I have ever had on an excursion. Our tour guide, Jackson, was the best! He was so helpful and extremely knowledgeable about the land and the conservation of it as well as all the movies filmed there along with dates and cast. For a huge movie buff that was an extra bonus for me. I thoroughly enjoyed this activity with my family. The two hour trek was great and wasn't too long. I loved that the tour provided bandanas, helmets, and goggles for all participants. Best trip ever!
Thank you very much for your kind assistance the day before yesterday, Kanako! I appreciate your enthusiastic explanations during the tour! I look forward to seeing you again tomorrow.
This boat ride was truly Amazing! I would do again! It is a Must do!
I enjoyed cocktails, beer, and even champagne while watching the sunset from the ship in the evening, feeling incredibly rich.
The cruise lasted about an hour and a half, and I was able to see the night view from the sea, which made for a truly enjoyable time.
I participated alone this time, but I was able to chat with various people and have fun.
I highly recommend it!
At first, I was worried about whether I could ride it, but once I tried, it was surprisingly easy. Riding the Segway while feeling the Hawaiian breeze was very pleasant. The instructor informed us about the areas to be cautious of during the ride, which allowed me to enjoy the experience with peace of mind. The instructor was very fun and provided clear guidance, and I was able to learn a lot about the finer details of Hawaii. They also took photos for us, which became wonderful memories. I want to ride a Segway again when I go back to Hawaii!
I participated because I wanted to experience the great nature of Hawaii. I was a bit worried from past reviews that there might be little time to see the filming locations, but since I wasn't driving, I was able to enjoy it fully while riding! I recommend it for those who want to see many filming locations! Also, the hospitality of the staff who drove us was amazing; they drove over the bumpy roads like it was an attraction, and I was impressed the entire two hours. The shuttle bus was also on time, so even though it takes half a day, I think the cost-performance ratio is excellent!
Best experience ever in Hawaii. Made me want to move to Oahu just to keep taking the excursion and will do again. The weather was perfect, even though it rained at the end!!! We brought headties to cover our hair and goggles and bandanas were provided!!! Jackson was our tour guide and his energy made it most enjoyable. His attitude about life and the confidence with which he spoke made us feel safe and would have stayed an additional hour if given the opportunity!!!
We really enjoyed the trip. All staffs are super friendly and helpful. Everything we needed were prepared and provided. I wish I had chosen a less windy day, but regardless, we all had a great time, whether in water or on the boat.
I woke up at 3 AM and finished a 10 km walk that started at 5 AM, arriving at the hotel just before 8 AM, feeling quite dehydrated. After cooling my lower body in the shower to prevent muscle soreness, I replenished fluids without eating anything and took a taxi I had booked for 8:30 to Pacific Skydiving Center (136 dollars plus a 15% tip). I arrived at 9:20, and it seemed like it would take about 40 minutes if there wasn't much traffic. I heard there were Uber rides available for around 80 dollars, but since it was busy with the Honolulu Marathon and I was worried about not being able to secure a ride back, I decided to take a taxi for the return trip as well. Little did I know how that decision would turn out later!
The check-in was at 10 AM, and skydiving was at 11 AM, so I had plenty of time. Perhaps due to dehydration from the 10 km walk, I wasn't hungry and didn't eat the food I brought or the cup noodles sold at check-in while waiting for the flight. I think this decision also affected the outcome later.
At the site, my English was poor, but I managed to communicate with the guide and another cameraman in broken English. They took great photos for me.
Now, regarding my condition in the air, the one-minute free fall made it difficult to breathe since my mouth was wide open, but I managed! When the parachute opened, I felt relieved, but then it turned into a nightmare. As we descended, we made turns left and right, and for someone unaccustomed like me, it felt like I was spinning out of control, and I quickly became dizzy. The rapid, repeated turns caused such jolts that I felt like my stomach was about to come out of my mouth, and I started feeling nauseous in the air. If I threw up here, I might shower the guide who was closely attached to my back or the other customers above, so I desperately held it in. Perhaps because I focused on this, I finally ran out of strength and, from the second half of the parachute descent, I was like a limp rag doll hanging there! I landed safely, but I was so weak that I leaned on the cameraman. After that, I threw up twice in the office restroom, but since I hadn't eaten anything, not much came out. I shudder to think what would have happened if I had eaten; perhaps I would have felt better and avoided this situation.
During the ride, I mentioned to the taxi driver that I would take an Uber back, so I didn't need him for the return. He then negotiated with me for 130 dollars without a tip, which was a bit high, but I thought it was okay! We shook hands and agreed, so the driver stayed at the local airfield. This way, he got to watch me take off energetically and then land feeling exhausted, rushing to the restroom twice.
Because of this, on the way back, he delayed the departure a bit to let me rest on a bench, brought a paper bag for my nausea from the airfield, and drove smoothly without sudden starts or stops, showing great hospitality all the way to the hotel. When I got out, he kindly spoke to me, and feeling moved for a different reason, I gave him a tip, which I hadn't planned to do, and we shook hands before parting ways.
In this way, I think it's best to approach skydiving when you're not tired, dehydrated, or lacking proper meals and sleep. By the way, everyone else who went skydiving seemed to be enjoying themselves!
Looking back, I realized I have a hard time with thrill rides like roller coasters and centrifugal force rides like teacups, generally anything that involves G-forces. I never expected that I would feel so dizzy from the parachute during this skydiving experience, so it might be tough for those who are sensitive to G-forces.
Overall, this experience was invaluable, and I am very satisfied. However, whether I will challenge it again next time... I think I will consider that while consulting with my body.
Our time at sand bar was amazing, it started with the crew and the musicians.
they made us comfortable and answered all our questions.
We had booked the banana boat and bumper package and it was exhilarating.
Looking forward to our next trip so we can book another tour.
Driving a buggy in the wonderful nature of Hawaii was a lot of fun, something you can't experience in Japan. However, the roads are not only unpaved but also quite bumpy in all directions. There was a sign stating that the maximum speed limit is 20 km/h, but the instructor driving the lead buggy instructed us to maintain a distance of just 2 meters from the buggy in front. That instructor was comfortably driving at 30 km/h, making it difficult to keep up and I was worried about tipping over. The engine brake worked well, but the foot brake was quite weak, so I was also concerned about crashing into the buggy ahead. I enjoyed it more in the second half once I got used to it, but until then, I felt more anxious than anything else.
There were more people in shorts, so it didn't seem necessary to wear long pants. Occasionally, there were explanations in English, but I, not being good at it, couldn't understand at all. The scenery was amazing, so I recommend it for those who are confident in their driving skills.
Great River Tour , excellent entertainment and a good price, highly recommend!
Had such an amazing experience. Seen some incredible sights and sealife during the ride. 10/10.
The show was great. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The performers did amazingly and made the show great. The food was alright, but the show and experience were amazing. 10/10.
The crew and experienced was amazing. We would go back for sure
Reasonably priced river tour. There are some great views and the crew sings wonderful Hawaiian music. If your visiting for the first time bring your family and take the grotto tour.
Our tour guide was very accomodating and had lots of helpful hints.
Have breakfast before starting, because the Diamond Head hike isn't a leisurely stroll in the park... you're going uphill a long way and it'll make you sweat!
Bringing a flashlight would be a good idea, because the majority of the hike is on an unpaved and and sometimes uneven path. Which can be a problem for a pre-dawn hike.
We didn't exactly get to see the sun rise per se. We arrived at the top in plenty of time, there were some clouds on the horizon.
Go inside the bunker, all the way to the back, to access the spiral interior staircase to complete the pathway loop. Seems like a lot of people aren't aware that they need to go into the bunker to do that.
I'd recommend having at least $30 per person in cold hard cash on hand, to pay for lunch etc.
If you don't wear sneakers, you could have a little trouble walking over seaside areas with sharp lava rock...
Hello J.L,
Thank you so much for your review. We are glad you had a had a good time with John. The weather in December is really like our rainy season so it has been very cloudy recently in the early mornings. Sneakers are definitely recommended especially for the hiking part. But we are glad you had a good time on the tour and we hope you enjoyed your entire stay in Hawaii.

Fun Group Hawaii
This is one of our favorite things my wife and I were able to do in Hawaii. We made a mistake while making our order, but they were very accommodating and helped us out. The captain and crew were extremely nice and helped set the tone for a good expedition. Quite a few families with kids went along, as well. The captain took time to spend with a young boy, giving him a treat that you could tell made the boy’s day. The trip gives you a great view of the bay, only improved by very a hospitable captain and crew. And we saw lots of turtles! We really appreciated the experience.
I have traveled to Hawaii about 20 times, including long stays, and this is my first visit in four years. I considered taking a bus or renting a car to get to Manoa, but since it was my first time in the area and I wanted to learn about the local plants, I decided to join this tour.
On the day of the tour, there were about four groups of Japanese participants and around four to five groups from English-speaking countries (the mainland, Australia, Italy). Our tour guide, Kanako, attended to everyone using both English and Japanese. I imagine she must have been quite tired from speaking both languages the whole time, but she was always smiling and considerate of everyone, truly a wonderful person.
Kanako's friendly approach made the bus ride and our exploration enjoyable, regardless of nationality. I participated alone, but I had the chance to chat, take photos, and exchange contact information with a woman who was also traveling solo from the mainland, which gave me a sense of the overseas travel experience I had missed. Thank you!
When we left Waikiki, the weather was quite overcast, and I wondered what it would be like in Manoa, but fortunately, it didn't rain during our exploration. We enjoyed the great outdoors while being careful of our footing. Along the way, we heard various stories, and I realized that the information shared during the tour was something I wouldn't have easily obtained on my own, making my decision to join the tour the right one.
After our exploration, we were served sandwiches from Andy's, a three-generation establishment in Manoa, along with water at Tantalus National Park. (The sandwiches here are incredibly filling; I was full after just half and took the rest home. The taste was excellent too, with a delightful sweetness in the bread!) Since it had rained, we ate together under a pavilion. Normally, we could have enjoyed our meal on the grass, further immersing ourselves in nature. After eating, we moved to a spot where we could see Diamond Head, Waikiki, and the airport for photos. Initially, clouds obscured our view of Diamond Head, but the weather changed suddenly, and by the end, we could see a bit of blue sky. I thought it was a miracle.
I usually participate in tours that are exclusively in Japanese, so I found this mixed tour to be a wonderful opportunity to communicate with people from overseas. I believe travel companies should actively promote mixed tours.
At the end, we all hugged goodbye. Although it was a short time, it was a very meaningful experience during my brief stay in Hawaii.
Thank you so much, Kanako! See you again!
Loved everything about it!
Crew is super chill and personable. Burgers were good - came with chips and a drink.
We had plenty of time to explore the sand bar and snorkel. Crew was comforting, the whole experience was super chill.
We had the time of our lives. Great price, great staff, great company!
I participated in the zip line activity. I was disappointed that the voucher mentioned a Japanese explanation guide for the zip line, but it wasn't available. The instructor cheerfully explained everything using a mix of English and gestures, so I had no trouble understanding how to use the zip line. The zip line itself was exhilarating and a lot of fun! If I had to say something, I wish it had been a bit longer, and I was disappointed that I couldn't get good photos while flying on the zip line. Since you can only bring your phone during the zip line, it would be convenient to have an accessory to hang your phone around your neck. Also, I strongly recommend bringing a long-sleeved jacket because it gets quite cold at night.
I have been visiting Hawaii for over twenty years, and I thought I should participate in a sandbar experience at least once. In November, the sandbar is not visible at all (to be precise, you can only see a slight difference in color indicating shallow or deep water from the boat). The water level reaches up to my neck at 162 cm tall. The shallow period, where the water is only ankle-deep, is said to be in the summer.
Additionally, due to somewhat cloudy weather and strong winds, it was quite cold, and it didn't feel enjoyable. *The shuttle vehicle is refrigerator-level cold, so a jacket is essential.* The snorkeling was quite ordinary... there was no mention of sea turtles. I highly recommend snorkeling at Hanauma Bay instead.
The areas for activities like snorkeling, SUP, and kayaking are limited (not very wide), so you end up turning back shortly after you start paddling. The trip from the port is quick, with Hawaiian music playing for 2-3 songs on the way there, and on the return trip, it turned into a lively dance party for foreigners.
In terms of facilities and services, there are two women's restrooms and one men's restroom on board. There are unlimited donuts (two types), water, lemonade, tea bags, and hot water available. The donuts are delicious. There were two kind staff members who spoke a little Japanese (Kansai dialect). This staff member goes around the tables explaining things for Japanese participants.
I recommend participating during the summer season, but overall, considering the price, it felt like a 360-degree beach experience.
The sea is beautiful! During snorkeling, the guide constantly informed us about the locations of sea turtles, allowing us to see them clearly, which was moving! They also introduced activities like stand-up paddleboarding, making it accessible even for beginners! I had a great time and would love to participate again!
Aloha! Thank you very much for participating in the Captain Bruce's Paradise Ocean Tour. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed activities like SUP in addition to snorkeling. Please join us again on your next visit to Hawaii. All of our staff are looking forward to welcoming you.
Riding through the great outdoors on a bicycle was a fresh and enjoyable experience! The mountain bike felt a bit wobbly on the bumpy roads, but once you get used to it, I think even beginners can feel at ease! Anyway, being able to see the beautiful nature and take plenty of photos made for a very satisfying tour!
We had a wonderful time touring some popular sites on Lanai (Shipwreck Beach, Garden of Gods, Cat sanctuary). Many of the sites were off unpaved roads, so have a driving guide really saved a lot of work and planning. The tour group with Russ, Ray and Cory was very accommodating, making extra arrangements to make sure no one is left stranded, even when unplanned events arise. The hardest part was figuring out where to pick up the tickets that morning. For us it was a booth across the street from the Pioneer Inn, near a small lighthouse.
I have always wanted to meet a sea turtle, so I signed up.
I arrived at the sandbar without any seasickness and was able to enjoy SUP and snorkeling!
Thank you very much!

There are almost only foreigners, but there is one staff member who speaks Japanese, so they will provide explanations. The horseback riding experience allows you to tour filming locations, enjoy views of the sea, and take in the mountains, making it very fulfilling. Even if it's your first time riding, there are explanation videos available in Japanese and other languages, so I think it will be easy to understand.
