The owner, Markus, is originally from Germany but was born and raised in Japan, where he developed a love for Baumkuchen. He and his wife, Marie, visited many traditional Baumkuchen shops in Germany to refine their original recipe. In 2018, they moved to Hawaii from Germany with a German-made oven and fulfilled their long-time dream of opening Baumkuchen Farm in 2021.
