Big Island
Adam was a wealth of knowledge and very informative. We used it to get a good overview of the island and were rewarded by the information and the sites we visited. Would highly recommend it to any one - the stories history and places visited were spot on.
We had a great time on the shuttle. Our driver, Forest was fun, professional and had so much to share about the area and island. We got to go down to some beautiful spots and get out to take pictures. It was amazing. I highly recommend you take this tour. The windows are out so you don't feel closed in. It is a long way down and up so think long and hard about hiking it. We are so glad we choose to Book this tour-- You will be happy you did! It was an amazing experience.
We really liked the tour, got to see the everything in whole Island that we wanted to see! Robert was our guide and gave us the history of the islands, so knowledgeable and mixed in fun stories! Don’t think we would of seen all of it on our own
So can’t wait to do this again next time we visit !!! Beautiful views and fun times
Fantastic tour for folks looking for an easy-paced ATV tour with insights into a working Hawaiian ranch. We had a great time as a family with elementary and high school aged kids and really enjoyed our first ATV adventure. Hosts are really welcoming and very knowledgeable of the local Hawaiian farming, trees, fruits and the Hamakua coast. This is not a thrill ride, and yet you come away with the experience of a lifetime. They really go over and beyond to accommodate the tour to your pace, preference and highlight the best of Mauka to Makai (Mountain to Sea), not to forget the breathtaking views of the coastline! We would highly recommend the tour for families and special kudos to our hosts - this tour would not be half as fun without them!
We had a great time. Forest was knowledgeable, friendly and professional. I would never want to drive this myself but I felt comfortable with Forest. Thanks for everything!
This tour is so good and informative, that we decided to do it again. Our first time was about 2 years ago. Great experience both times.
I tried to change to outstanding but it wouldn’t let me. We had a great time and really enjoyed our self. Easy check in. Very accommodating and very knowledgeable of the plants trees fruit etc. They went out of there way to show us and share information. My husband and I would recommend them. Good job.
I went along with my 8yr old and had a good time on this tour. The views were awesome and the staff was friendly. It was a casual ride at 8-10mph so not for the ATV excitement seekers.
Didn’t have any expectation beyond seeing incredible scenery in our visit to Waipio Valley. We were not disappointed with the views and were totally surprised with the stories told by an Hawaiian youth resident of the valley of how the valley was occupied and its history through the centuries. We’re so glad we chose this tour while visiting the big island. We were three generations traveling and our youngest - a 3 year old - managed quite well. Anyone interested in this tour should be aware that the four wheel drive vehicle will travel down and up the 1300 feet steep drop into and out of the valley. Not for the faint hearted although a person can easily close their eyes to ensure they will not miss this historical and sacred valley.
This was a great tour! Our tour guide was really able to give it a personal touch since he lives in the Valley. Learned so much about the culture and was able to really soak in the beautiful scenery while he took care to get us up and down safely.
Pros: It was worthwhile to do this tour to see the entire Big Island all in one day, without having to do any driving. Adam was very informative and shared many Hawaiian mythical stories along the way. Enjoyed the extra stops at the bakery for Malasadas, the driver got us all plain ones, and the fruit stand we stopped at, at the end.
Cons: many errors due to the fact that Veltra books the tour, through the Hawaii Activities, but they don’t run the tour. So the lunch options were not the options listed when we booked. They called to clarify the meals for our group and still got the lunches completely wrong. No chicken on the salads, not enough sandwiches and too many plain veggie salads. Also, we booked a private tour. We booked a private tour. The website said private tour up to 10, we had 9, so we were under the impression we would be the only group on the tour. This was not the case! There was a group of three in the van when it arrived to pick us up. And the other group had much better looking lunches than ours for some reason. Another disappointing thing was that it was rainy and cold for the volcano portion of the tour. Our tour guide informed us that rainy weather is very very common at the volcano park and near Hilo. We were all dressed for warm weather and we were all freezing for a large part of the tour. Our van had 6 rain jackets, but 12 passengers. It would have been very helpful if the person that called to confirm the tour would have told us there is a chance it might be rainy. One last thing, we accidentally left some candy purchases on the tour bus, we called the company, but have not heard back about retrieving these purchases.
The experience at the ATV on the Hamakua Coast was well worth it. The ATV’s were well taken care of, safe, and fun to ride in. The views around the ranch were a mix of everything from ponds, to cattle, to the beautiful Hamakua coast. The best part about the experience was the tour guides. They kept the experience fun, treated us like family, and shared a wealth of Hawaiian knowledge. We highly recommend this ATV tour for anyone looking for a low stress, fun, and knowledge-filled tour on the Big Island.
I loved this excursion and can’t say enough good things about it. The views were fantastic. It was really nice to see a different side of the island and a working ranch. The family that runs it are some of the nicest ppl. will do again for sure
The 750 acre farm is beautiful, with spectacular ocean views. However the real highlight are the hosts. They are very knowledgeable about the land and Hawaii culture and history so you learn while enjoying the scenery. Cherry on top is supporting a local business that is truly part of the island. My entire family from ages 11-77 loved it. Highly recommend.
Hank was a wonderful guide and truly went above and beyond to ensure we had a great day! Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting an introduction to the island!
We had a blast with the sightseeing tour. The driver was very friendly and took us all around the beautiful valley. Comfortable ride.
We had a blast on the ATV tour! The tour started at the Waipi'o on Horseback farm. We started off going uphill, past a fish pond and up to a beautiful spot overlooking the water. My son loved passing all of the horses and cows on the property. Then we headed down to the cliffs by the water which was beautiful! The guides were so nice and told us some interesting things about life on Hawaii. I highly recommend this tour! Quick tip- You will get quite dirty by the end, so bring some extra clothes if you have other plans after.
Really cool to see the island this way! The staff was informative and friendly. The views are absolutely amazing!
Our trip was amazing! Our guide was very knowledgeable and we had a wonderful time!
Outstanding in every regard. Our guides were professional but warm and engaging. Teegan and Haley were knowledgeable and very personable. The equipment was well maintained. The ride was just the right length. The view was as incredible as advertised. The tandem ATV’s were easy to handle and a lot of fun, but never felt overwhelming. Would highly recommend!
Kaleo our guide was wonderful. He was very informative and being a resident of the valley, getting a tour from him was excellent.
He was very kind to take pictures for us.
The valley is breathtakingly beautiful. The trip down and up the valley was full of facts.
I highly recommend it.
We had a great time with the family on this trip. Our guide was friendly and very knowledgeable. The kids really enjoyed seeing the wild horses.
My niece came to visit from Pennsylvania and loved Waipio Valley.
Douglas was a great tour guide and told wonderful stories. We learned about Waipio vegetation, including the beautiful Gardenia he picked for us. Douglas shared a story about how his grandparents ate Nonni, smelly fruit but healthy for you. Loved hearing about the people of the valley who do not have electricity but are hard working taro farmers. Mahalo Nui Loa Douglas.
My family really enjoyed this excursion and it was one of the highlights of our trip! We learned about this sacred ground and were able to capture amazing photos along the way! Hawaii’s largest waterfall, wild horses coming up to our van, and great family pictures were taken. Our driver, Daniel, was focused on our safety including following Covid safety protocols. Highly recommend!
We were only on island for two days, so we had to make the most of it. Rich picked us up promptly and we set out with a total of nine passengers. The van was comfortable, and Rich had water and lunch ready for us, along with clean jackets and umbrellas for the chilly rainy segments of the trip. The drive was safe and pleasant, and Rich regaled us with information and stories. At each stop, he allowed us ample time and shared interesting information.
This was a wonderful day, and we not only saw the island but also learned a lot. Highly recommended, especially if you can get Rich as your driver/tour guide!
Awana was awesome. He did a great job from the start by getting out group of 20 together in one van. His knowledge of the island’s as well as the big island was extensive. Never a dull moment he kept us laughing and taught us a great deal. All stops were as promised. Would do the tour again
We had a great time, our guide was super-nice, and we learned a lot about the flora and fauna of the island, as well as farming in different micro-climates.
The guide was very informative and showed us all of the unique characteristics of the valley. Would take the tour again and it was a lot of fun for all eight of us.
What an awesome experience that was well worth every penny. Kaleo was a authentic, personable, and knowledgeable tour guide, who was born and raised in the valley. He shared not only the history of the sacred valley, but also stories of his childhood and information on the local wildlife. The tour met at the art gallery, where there are restrooms and parking (and yummy ice cream). From there everyone gets in a van as Kaleo drives the group down to the back of the valley, an area off limits to the general public. The views are incredible from the top to the bottom and back.
Thank for your 5 star review. The windows on the van have been removed for a richer experience. Mahalo Gary
