Big disappointment!

After reading the detail for this tour we were extremely disappointed with what we experienced. We were a party of 4 who were split over 2 different tours. We thought this was due to weight restrictions which we couldn't understand because we are all average but in hindsight realise it was because we all wanted doors off. The pilot was great gave lots of detail and interesting facts. The flight was wonderful experiencing doors off just unfortunate the tour has not been revised since the lava stopped flowing and you spend the majority of the flight flying over blacken ground which becomes boring very fast. We were looking forward to seeing the waterfalls but this was a quick fly over and back to base so felt let down with this also. We had another couple on our flight as did my sister on her flight and all eight of us were extremely disappointed with what our tour delivered for the cost. The company really need to change the itinery for this tour to make it an experience to remember as it obviously once was when the lava was flowing.

Since my mother has difficulty walking, a tour that involves a lot of walking was not possible, so I signed up for this one. It takes about an hour and a half to drive from Waikoloa, but the road is almost straight, so I was able to get there without any mistakes using Google Maps. There are no doors, so the wind comes in strongly, making it quite cold. My mother seemed to really enjoy the best position next to the driver, as she could see both the front and the surroundings. We were also able to see how the lava flows into the sea while circling around the crater. Definitely worth it!

The Japanese pilot was very entertaining, providing a detailed explanation of the Kilauea volcano's crater. It was cloudy until we reached the town of Hilo, but it was sunny when we arrived at Waipi'o Valley. We had about a 30-minute break for landing at the waterfall. I'm glad I was able to experience something so unique in reality.

The views of the craters at Volcano National Park we’re amazing and the number and size of the waterfalls at the end was unexpected and spectacular. All in 45 minutes! We drove the saddle road from Waikoloa for an hour and forty minutes to take the helicopter out of Hilo for a much lower cost than from the Kona side.

Finally, the awareness and proactivity of the island's people in coexisting with the volcanoes, as shared by pilot Mochizuki, will likely stay with me for life, as I lead a rather ordinary existence. Moreover, this first helicopter tour of my life allowed me to witness the Earth's activities from a bird's-eye view. It may sound a bit exaggerated, but it changed my perspective on life.

Not only did I get to see the full view of the Big Island, but I also felt the vibrant life of the island, as if I were watching a movie. The music added to the atmosphere and drew me in even more. It was wonderful how the pilot made sure that everyone could see well from either side. I would love to experience it again if I have the chance.

I had heard that I could request a Japanese pilot, but from pick-up to boarding, everything was in English, which was quite confusing for us as a couple who are not proficient in English. Fortunately, the pilot was a veteran Japanese pilot, and there were Japanese announcements at key points, plus he spoke English slowly, which was helpful. After takeoff, I was continuously moved to the point of forgetting the passage of time. Although we couldn't see the red lava flowing due to the activity of Kilauea Volcano calming down, I was amazed by the pilot's skill in landing effortlessly in a narrow area that was hardly different from the rotor's rotation range. It was a valuable experience that cannot be fully expressed just through personal accounts and images. While it's not a price that can be easily afforded, if you have the financial means, this is definitely a tour you should try.

The view from the powerful helicopter and the sight of the eruption were breathtaking. However, I wished I could have seen the volcano up close a bit more. It was so lucky to sit next to the pilot! The best view and nice weather. Kind and well-experienced pilot. It was expensive but worth trying.

Just the recording of the flight for US$40 was too high. And the conflict with the USB being ready and the bus schedule was too tight.

NB: Check my pick-up time on the voucher!!! It was actually the flight schedule. I was about to miss the biggest event of the trip!!!

Although I'm not a native speaker, I was able to understand, and it turned out to be a very good experience! It was a stable ride compared to a Cessna, providing a sense of security and comfort, making for a wonderful experience. The moment I realized the pilot was Toshi Mochizuki, my sense of reassurance and anticipation doubled.

Although the lava flow had stopped, we were able to get much closer to the crater, and the cliffs viewed from the sea were truly volcanic islands. I was greatly impressed along with the Canadian family who joined me.
