It was our 2nd time at the summit after 14 years with your company and we were more concerned about the summit weather due to last time it was so windy and cold to stay outside of the car.

But, the weather this time thanks to god it was good to watch the sunset.

Our driver was so nice was caring, professional skill of guiding and a gentleman.

He was caring everyone.
This made our trip OUTSTANDING.

I would recommend this trip to anyone eligible it is good tour with a Mercedes 4WD van with 14 passengers.

A little while ago, I experienced altitude sickness during the sunset tour, so I was a bit worried about the sunrise tour, but I was able to clear it up beautifully and enjoyed the sunrise energetically!

On September 20 (Friday) in Hawaii, my husband and I participated in a sunrise tour at the summit of Mauna Kea, a long-time dream of ours. We were really looking forward to this day as the highlight of our trip to the Big Island.

Although I had some anxiety about the harsh environment at an altitude of about 4,200 meters, the moment I witnessed its beauty, all my worries disappeared.

The tour started in the middle of the night, and as we made our way to the summit in the darkness, the wonderful narration by our tour guide, Aoki, welcomed us with a starry sky. The stars shone as if we could reach out and touch them, leaving us speechless in the face of their beauty. It felt as if we were being drawn into the universe.

We were thoroughly satisfied as we looked through the telescope at the moonbow, Saturn, Jupiter, Canopus, Sirius, and Betelgeuse, guided by Aoki.

Upon reaching the summit, we followed Aoki's instructions and put on warm clothing to prepare for the cold while waiting for the sunrise. Gradually, the sky began to change from pale purple to orange, and eventually, the sun slowly revealed itself. At that moment, the mountains and the sea of clouds glowed golden, and I was struck by the grandeur of nature.

When the orange sun appeared from the sea of clouds, it was a moment so moving that it brought tears to my eyes.

Perhaps due to the thin air, I felt a bit of difficulty in breathing, but more than that, it was a moment filled with emotional fulfillment.

The sunrise at the summit of Mauna Kea was not just about enjoying a beautiful view; it was a special experience that allowed me to feel the connection between nature and the universe, and a new vision for life. Sharing this moment with my partner became one of the unforgettable memories of our lives.

As advice for those who will participate in the future, I recommend making sure to prepare for the cold. The altitude is high, and it gets quite chilly in the morning. Also, managing your physical condition to prevent altitude sickness is important. Enjoy the experience while consciously taking deep breaths. And above all, make sure to imprint the starry sky and sunrise in your memory, feeling that moment deeply rather than relying solely on photos.

Finally, the sunrise at the summit of Mauna Kea is an emotional moment worth experiencing at least once in a lifetime.

少し前に行ったサンセットツアーで、高山病の症状が出たので、少し心配しながらのサンライズツアーでしたが、綺麗にクリアできて元気に日の出を見てきました！

ハワイ現地9月20日（金）、私たち夫婦は長年の夢だったマウナケア山頂でのサンライズツアーに参加しました。ハワイ島での旅行のハイライトとして、この日をとても楽しみにしていました。

標高約4200メートルの過酷な環境に少し不安もありましたが、その美しさを目の当たりにした瞬間、その不安は一気に消え去りました。

ツアーは深夜にスタートし、まだ暗闇の中を山頂へ向かう途中、ツアーガイドのAokiさんの素晴らしい語りとともに夜空に広がる星空が私たちを出迎えてくれました。まるで手を伸ばせば触れられるような星々が輝き、私たちはその美しさに言葉を失いました。まるで宇宙に吸い込まれるような感覚に包まれました。

マウナケア山頂でのサンライズは、単に美しい景色を楽しむだけでなく、自然と宇宙のつながり、人生のあらたなビションを感じる特別な体験でした。夫婦二人でこの瞬間を共有できたことは、私たちの人生の中でも忘れられない思い出の一つとなりました。

これから参加される方へのアドバイスとしては、まず防寒対策をしっかりとすることです。標高が高く、朝はかなり冷え込みます。また、高山病に備えて体調管理も大切です。ゆっくりと深呼吸を心掛けながら楽しんでください。そして、何よりも星空や日の出を自分の目でしっかりと焼き付け、写真だけに頼らず、その瞬間を心から感じてください。

Spending time at 4,205 meters while watching the sunset, along with views of Subaru and the sea of clouds, was a treasure.

It's a moment that makes me feel glad I came to the Big Island!

Unfortunately, the starry sky wasn't great, but I was still very satisfied.

The guide took wonderful photos, which became great memories as well.

This was a local tour on the Big Island of Hawaii. The original plan was to drive to the summit (4,200 meters) to watch the sunset, and then observe the stars in the night sky at another location.

The sunset viewed from the summit was incredibly beautiful, and I couldn't take my eyes off the scenery as it sank into the sea of clouds! Also, I think opportunities to climb a mountain over 4000 meters are rare, so I'm glad I participated! Personally, I appreciated that there were places where we didn't have to hike. The photos taken by the guide turned out great, and I am very satisfied!

The observatories and sunset I saw at the summit were wonderful. It was my first time staying at 4000 meters, but thanks to the advice on acclimatization and the guide's handling, I was able to go without getting altitude sickness. The guide, Koki, was well-studied and very helpful.

For stargazing, we went to a parking lot quite a bit down from the summit. Even though the summit was perfectly clear with not a single cloud, when we descended, there were clouds, and I really wanted to gaze at the stars in a clear sky. It was disappointing.

As we drove down, I could clearly see that there were clouds, and I was surprised, thinking, "Why are we going to a place with clouds when there's no cloud here?" I felt sad that I had come all this way to see the stars in a once-in-a-lifetime place, only to not fulfill that purpose. The view with the naked eye was about as good as the starry sky in Nagano, but I did manage to capture something that looked like the Milky Way using my iPhone's stargazing mode.

頂上で見た天文台群と夕日は素晴らしいものでした。
人生初の4000m滞在でしたが、順応やガイドさんの対処方法のアドバイスもあり、高山病になることもなく行くことができました。
ガイドのKokiさんも良く勉強されていて、すごく参考になりました。

折角はるばる人生でまたとないところに星空を見に来て、雲一つ無い快晴の場所にいたのに、目的が果たせず悲しくなりました。
肉眼では長野の星空くらいの見え方でしたが、一応アイフォンの星空モードで何とかの天の川らしいものは撮れました。

Todd, our guide, was great. Great driving up the steep dirt road. Great info about the geology, topography, observatories, constellations and more. Engaging, informative. I arrived at the Onizuka Center around 4 PM and quickly received a sandwich and water for dinner. Even though the Onizuka Center is at an altitude of 2,800 meters, my climbing experience has taught me that appetite decreases at higher altitudes, so I ate quickly. There are restrooms available here, and I put on the down jacket I brought. They also offer rental of warm clothing, so I think it's better to dress warmly.

I stayed for about an hour before departing for the summit. The path is unpaved, so it’s bumpy. It seems you can go by private car, but it’s not covered by rental car insurance, and if you damage it, the charges can be exorbitant. Perhaps due to the altitude, I felt sleepy, but I was warned that sleeping could worsen altitude sickness, so it’s strictly prohibited.

At the summit, which is over 4,000 meters, I changed locations about three times and waited for about an hour for the sunset at the last spot. After waiting for the sunset, we descended and stopped at a parking lot along the way for stargazing and a photo session, which took about an hour. Each time we took photos, we had to wait for cars leaving the parking lot or passing on the road, which took time. During this, it was extremely cold at around 3,500 meters.

The descent felt longer as it was darker, and I took my time. After passing the Onizuka Center, we took a break for the restroom and to change clothes. By the time I returned to the hotel, it was 11 PM. Since the next day was early, I felt a bit rushed, but I decided to relax. I managed to cope with altitude sickness as advised, by not sleeping and taking deep breaths. Overall, it was quite a challenging tour, but it was a valuable and enjoyable experience.

しばらく、1時間程度滞在して、頂上へ出発。
道が舗装されてないので、ガタガタします。
自家用車でも行けるみたいですが、レンタカーの保険適用外で、壊すと半端なく高額請求されるようです。
高所の影響か、眠くなりますが、寝ると高山病が悪化するので寝るのは厳禁と注意されます。
4000メートルを超えた山頂では3箇所くらい場所を変えて滞在して、最後の場所で1時間くらい日没を待ちます。
日没を待ち下山、途中の駐車場に止まり、星空鑑賞と撮影会を行います。
それもなんだかんだと1時間くらい。
撮影の度に駐車場から出る車や、道路を通る車を待って撮影するので、時間が掛かります。
その間も激寒及び3500メートルくらいの標高。
下りの道の方が暗い中慎重に言っているのか、時間が掛かった感じがしました。
オニヅカセンターを越えて、しばらく行った先でトイレ休憩及び着替え。
ホテルに戻ったら、23時でした。
翌日が早かったので、ちょっと焦りましたが、諦めてゆったり構えてました。
高山病も教えられたとおりに、眠らずに、呼吸を深くで乗り切れました。
まあまあ、大変なツアーではありますが、貴重な経験で楽しかったです。

There were quite a few participants on the day, and we set off in two vehicles. Fortunately for our group, which consisted only of Japanese people, we had a guide named Shotaro who spoke Japanese and had a middle name. At the Onizuka Visitor Information Center, the fog thickened along the route to the summit, and we waited for about 30 minutes, worried that the tour might be canceled. However, the fog cleared, and we made it to the summit. The view was spectacular, with Maui Island peeking out beyond the sea of clouds. After descending to the parking lot, we enjoyed stargazing under a sky where the moon was at 29%, and we could see the Milky Way quite well. While sipping warm cocoa, we observed the night sky with the naked eye (including moving satellites) and used a telescope to view the moon's craters, taking many photos. It was a wonderful memory.

当日の参加者が結構多く、2台に分乗して出発しましたが、日本人だけのグループだった我々には運良くショウタロウさんというミドルネームをもった日本語のできるガイドさんがついてくれました。オニズカ・ビジター韻フメーションセンターでは山頂までのの区間で霧が濃くなり30分ほど待機、ツアーが中止になるのではとヒヤヒヤしましたが、なんとか霧が晴れて山頂へ。山頂からは雲海の向こうにマウイ島が顔を出しているのが確認できるなど最高の景色でした。途中の駐車場まで降りてからの星空観察は月が29％の状態で天の川観察もまずまず。暖かいココアを頂きながら肉眼で星空（動いている人工衛星も）、望遠鏡で月のクレーターを観察し、写真も沢山撮って頂きました。とても良い記念になりました。

I was able to climb to nearly the summit at an altitude of 4,200 meters (the actual summit is a sacred site and cannot be accessed on tours), which was a very valuable experience that I could never have in Japan. Despite it being mid-summer, the perceived temperature was below 10 degrees Celsius, but they provided jackets and gloves, so I was completely comfortable and not cold at all. The sandwiches for dinner were also delicious, perfectly seasoned to match the thin air at the summit.

日本では決して体験できない標高4,200メートルのほぼ頂上(頂上は聖地のためツアーでは行けない)まで上ることができ、とても貴重な体験ができました。

The guide was friendly, kind, and provided thorough explanations. The shuttle bus was on time, and they offered a free photography service.

■Tour
The weather was good, and the content matched what was stated on the website. The hot cocoa served while stargazing was very delicious.

■Altitude Sickness Measures
We climbed gradually with breaks, but there were moments when I found it a bit hard to breathe. However, following the guide's instructions to take deep breaths helped improve my condition, and I was able to enjoy the experience without any issues until the end. It seems there is oxygen available for emergencies, so I think it's best not to push yourself too hard.

■Free Photography Service
The guide took photos with their camera and shared them via AirDrop. It seems to be a cultural practice, but since all the photos taken are distributed, my pictures were also shared with other participants. If you're concerned about this, you can politely decline and take your own photos.

■Aside
A couple I met on a snorkeling tour in Maui two days prior was also here, and even though I was participating alone, I was able to enjoy conversations with them. Fortunately, many others were friendly as well, and we were able to take photos of each other.

文化的なものかと思いますが、撮ったもの全てが配られるため自分の写真も他の参加者に渡ります。気になる方は自分で撮るからと断っても良いかと思います。

■余談
二日前にマウイ島で参加したシュノーケリングツアーにいたご夫婦がこちらにもいらっしゃり、ひとり参加だったのですが彼らと楽しく会話しながら過ごせました。他の方もたまたま気さくな方が多く、写真を撮り合ったりできました。

Exceeded our wildest expectations

I'm embarrassed to say that I balked a little at first at the cost of this tour. Let me tell you, 15 minutes into the tour it felt like a total bargain.

The van was super comfortable and clean. We were running a little late and the tour guide called us to make sure we were going to make it. He was kind and understanding.

Our guide's make was Kea. He was the best guide of any tour I've taken in thirty years. So much local knowledge, and very generous with his experience and expertise. He made everyone on the trip feel like an individual. Also, he's hilarious.

The stargazing was simply mind blowing. It was like looking into deep space for nearly two hours. We lost count is the shooting stars after 15.

Kea was also very knowledgeable about the stars and the telescope we used was amazing. We saw nebulas, globular clusters, binary stars, and more.

After a long day, full bellies, and stargazing it was a real relief to have someone else driving us down the dark mountain.

I'll wrap things up by thanking our guide one more time. The quality of this tour really felt like it came from the quality of the person who shared his knowledge with us.

The view of the sea of clouds and the setting sun from the summit of Mauna Kea was incredibly beautiful. During the stargazing, I was moved by the summer sky filled with stars and the Milky Way. Additionally, since it was the day after the full moon, I was lucky to see the reddish moon rising as well! The photo taken with a DSLR camera turned out to be the best shot with the Milky Way in the background. The staff's explanations were easy to understand, and I learned a lot about the Big Island, Mauna Kea, and the stars. I'm really glad I was able to participate in this tour, which will be a lifelong memory!

Unfortunately, the full moon made it difficult to see many stars, but instead, I was able to view the beautiful moon and bright shining stars through a telescope. They took us by car up to over 4,000 meters, providing a valuable experience that left me very satisfied. Although the guide was in English, I appreciated that they mixed in a bit of Japanese explanation. Given the current weak yen, the price might make you hesitate to sign up, but I’m glad I decided to participate.

Wow! What an amazing experience. We were so glad we took this tour instead of attempting this ourselves. It was beyond our wildest dreams, like leaving earth and visiting Mars. Just incredible. Our tour guide, Arthur, was extremely knowledgeable. We all learned a tin from him through the tour. I highly recommend him.
The food was from a local restaurant and was delicious. The bus was comfortable and I would not have wanted to drive to the summit in a rental car. That alone was worth the rate.
Also, Parkas and gloves were provided and they were super nice and warm. This tour was by far thi highlight of our trip to Hawaii. Do not hesitate. The experience is incredible and better than we could have possibly imagined. Not to be missed. And...it's cheap when you consider the quality I'd the experience. We LOVED it.

I could see so many stars, and even the Milky Way, which was amazing! The two guides were very nice and it was helpful that they could communicate in both English and Japanese. It was cold at the summit, but the sandwiches and cocoa were delicious, making it a very satisfying tour.

Mauna Kea is higher than Mount Fuji, and since I have never climbed any mountain, let alone Fuji, I was a bit worried about possibly getting altitude sickness even before reaching the summit. Along the way, the guide kindly provided detailed information on how to prevent altitude sickness, and by following that advice, I was able to enjoy my time at the summit. I previously went to see the sunset and starry sky from the summit of Haleakalā on Maui, and it was an absolutely stunning sight that cannot be compared. However, given the location, I did feel a bit unwell (I think this is what they call altitude sickness), so I was disappointed that I couldn't really enjoy the explanations about the stars. I had heard that there are few Japanese tourists and that the guidance would be in English, but on the day we participated, everyone in our group was Japanese, so we had a guide who spoke Japanese. Thank you for taking so many photos for us.

マウイ島のハレアカラ山頂からのサンセットと星空も以前見に行きましたが、比べものにならないくらい素晴らしい光景でした。
ただ、さすがに場所が場所だけに気分が悪くなり（多分これが高山病と言われるものなんだと思いますが）、星の説明はほとんど気けなかったのが残念でした。

It was my long-awaited trip to the summit of Mauna Kea. It was truly a wonderful experience. I was hesitant because the tour prices have increased due to the strong yen, but my husband said, "I've already retired, and this mountain is higher than Mount Fuji, so I want to climb it while I'm still healthy," and that’s why I decided to join this time.

It was hot until we got on the bus, but I participated wearing a long-sleeve T-shirt, jeans, and sneakers. The winter gear I brought from Japan included Uniqlo's ultra-warm underwear, Uniqlo's ultra-light down jacket, ski socks, and smartphone-compatible gloves. I changed into the clothes I brought at a rest stop along the way and borrowed ski wear at the summit to wear over them. (The summit had clear skies, but it was a windy and cold day for summer, so this was just right.)

I had never climbed Mount Fuji, so I was worried about altitude sickness, but I was fine. I enjoyed delicious sandwiches and cocoa. You can easily drive to the summit and see breathtaking views. I learned for the first time what a starry sky really is. I could even see moving satellites with the naked eye.

It was a series of moving experiences. I highly recommend it.

バスに乗るまでは暑いですが、長袖のTシャツとGパンとスニーカーで参加しました。日本から持参した冬装備は、ユニクロの極暖下着・ユニクロのウルトラライトダウンジャケット・スキー用の靴下とスマホ対応手袋でした。持参した服を途中の休憩所で着て、頂上でスキーウェアの上下を借りてこの上に着ました。（頂上は晴天でしたが夏にしては風があり寒い日だったそうです。これで丁度よかったです。）
私は富士山にも登ったことがなかったので、高山病が心配でしたが大丈夫でした。サンドイッチとココアを美味しくいただきました。簡単に車で頂上まで行けて絶景の景色をみる事ができます。特に満天の星空とはこの事なのだと初めて知りました。肉眼で動いている人工衛星も見る事ができました。
感動の連続です。是非お勧めします。
