Fun Day

Posted on: 2019/06/30

This tour will give you plenty of bang for your buck. It's fun to learn about the island and all of the history from the tour guide. Got to see lots of the island.

The best part of the trip for me was the yummy shrimp lunch and kayaking at Tsue's Farm. Even though it poured during our kayaking, the rain made it all the more memorable! We'd never been kayaking before and we were all over the place in the water, but it was lots of fun. Maybe next time I would stay on shore and eat a shave ice instead! :)

Would've liked more time at the Dole Pineapple Plantation but I'm sure there's probably a good reason you're only allowed 30 mins! There's lots to see and do here. We tagged teamed on this leg of the tour: one person shopped, the other bought the Dole Whips. The Dole Whips are a must. They're delicious and the perfect treat. We've had Dole Whips before at DisneyLand, but they are much better here. We also had no clue pineapples grew in the ground! Fun little stop!

In all honesty, the snorkeling at Hanauma Bay was probably my least favorite part of the trip. This activity takes a lot of effort for such little reward. Found the park and the bay way overcrowded. You have to watch a movie before you go down to the bay. Before you can enter the theater at your designated time, you stand outside in the blazing hot sun with a big group of other people which makes it 10x hotter. Not sure why there's no sun shade or canopy above the waiting area. You are told not to touch or step on the coral, but it's pretty much impossible to do that since the bay is full of it. If you want to snorkel, I would do it somewhere else. Honestly, I feel that this park is overused and overrated. I was kind of grossed out by it, it seemed dirty to me. They should only have the park open maybe three or four days a week. It needs a break! Also a bummer was the snack bar: Snack bar closes at 4, but park is open until 7p. Weird. Also, walk down to the bay but take the tram back up.

Miss R,

We are sorry you had a terrible time at Haunama Bay State Park. We have forwarded your concerns with the Parks and Recs Dept. I am glad you enjoyed the tour as we put our all into giving you a great and memorable experience.
