Fantastic is the word that best describes our experience. The crew was very accommodating and the cruise gave us a good overview of Waikiki, Diamond Head and surrounding area. With the limited number of participants we did not get lost in a crowd as you would on the larger cruise ships and it cost much less. Definitely worth the money. This one gets a FIVE STAR.

Maita'i Catamaran is an easy cheap way to enjoy a short sail off the coast of Waikiki. Their location is walkable from just about anywhere in Waikiki (which is only about 1.5 miles from east to west), and my family did a quick 90 minute sail. They allow 0-3 year olds on for free, so for my wife and son and I it was a real bargain.

Most boating trips pad your cost by including free booze (which can make you seasick, or might have disappointingly little effect if you are from higher altitudes), so I was glad to see it sold a la carte here (quite cheaply).

Crew was friendly and approachable, and we got to be on a boat in paradise. They use their motor to get to and from shore efficiently, but most of the time the motor is off and they are just sailing, which is ideal. We saw a dolphin and 2 sea turtles too.

I just feel bad that between making sure my 3-year old got off safely and remembering all of our things I totally forgot to tip them. Hopefully this review will help. Book them now!

This is my second time boarding. It's worth it just to go out to sea at a reasonable price and see the indescribably beautiful cobalt blue ocean. Of course, the view of Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head from offshore is fantastic. Additionally, it's very convenient to board from the beach next to Sheraton Waikiki Resort.

This is my eighth trip to Hawaii, but this was my first time using this service. I signed up thinking it would be a light sailing experience, but it was even more enjoyable than I imagined. First, we went out to sea with the engine, and after turning it off, we raised the yacht's canopy and sailed using only the wind. It was surprisingly fast and refreshing. The original cocktail made by the staff was also quite delicious. My colleague who joined me was thrilled, and it has become a tour we will definitely repeat. If I go again next year, I would love to participate.

The ride was quite bumpy, and while it was fun at first, I started to feel a bit nauseous… I think a shorter duration would be better, but I enjoyed it at a reasonable price, so it was worth it.

I experienced this on the day I arrived in Hawaii. Since it was a bit of a half-day, I was unsure what to do, but the weather was really nice when I arrived, so I made a reservation. We travel a lot and love an afternoon sail. Wednesday's 3pm sail featured mellow 70s music (CCR, Eagles, and that classic plane crash ditty Fire and Rain, along with some 50s tunes). Really? Music that's 40 - 58 years old?

The captains seemed barely engaged in their jobs, chatting with each other about filing their taxes for much of the 90 minute sail.

Though the trades weren't blowing, no effort was made to find enough wind to make it feel like a sail, nor did our crew display any interest in pointing out local landmarks, Hawaiian history and lore, or the flora and fauna.

There were good at hustling the $2 waters and sodas and $10 refillable drinks and reminding us to tip.

Snooze.

We booked for 10 people, but there were no other passengers, so it was a private charter. We enjoyed the leisurely flow of time, the bright blue sky, and the emerald sea while sipping cocktails. Additionally, we were thrilled to see a whale spouting about 200 meters away! The cruiser staff were very friendly, but one small disappointment was that the meeting place was different. It was supposed to be at the pier, but when we arrived on time, we found the reception area at the edge of the hotel building.

The following day, we chartered a car to explore from land, and while joking with my family about sightseeing from the sky and land, we made a reservation for the sea at midnight, and when I woke up in the morning, I found out the reservation was successful. We arrived at the meeting point during the day and boarded the boat. I had prepared for getting completely soaked from the splashes of the waves, but there were no waves at all, just a calm sea, and we saw the tail of a whale a couple of times. The view of Waikiki from the sea is special and worth experiencing. If I had to complain, it would be that the operator took time to line up each group for photos before boarding the boat for their business purposes. The goal was to sell the developed photos when disembarking after the cruise, but I thought they should limit that to only those who wanted it. I didn't like their selfishness and had no intention of buying the photos when getting off.

I saw a feature on Hawaii on TV that introduced this tour, and I really wanted to participate, so I signed up. All the staff are locals, and they only speak English. It might be nice to view Waikiki from the ocean, but it was a bit different from what was shown on TV, which was disappointing. If you're looking to enjoy a sense of activity, other sailing tours might be better.

The sailing tour was my first experience, and it was incredibly refreshing. Lying on the net and listening to the sound of the waves made me feel like my whole body was being purified. I only nibbled on snacks and selected drinks, but I hardly touched them because I was so absorbed in sailing. If you get tired from shopping, taking this sailing tour could be a great way to refresh yourself, which is a typical way to enjoy Hawaii.

We used it with our family, including a first grader and older children, in late December.

It was around the time when whale watching starts, and we considered a boat cruise, but thought it might be boring if we didn't see any whales, so we opted for a yacht, which turned out to be a good choice. It didn't sway much, and instead, it was refreshing to feel the thrill of the waves. However, my younger child seemed a bit scared at first from the rocking, so while it wasn't dangerous, it might have been a bit too early for them.

The cruise lasted an hour and a half, going around the other side of Diamond Head. On the way there, we felt excited, and on the way back, we were a bit more calm. Opinions might differ on whether it was worth the price, but I felt like I experienced Hawaii, and I was happy with it. As many have mentioned, I had been interested in beach yachts for a while, and even though the programs are different, it would cost two to three times more in Japan's Shonan.

By the way, it was fully booked with about 40 people, but our family was the only Japanese. I didn't understand much English, but since it was just about feeling the waves and the wind, language didn't really matter.

そんなに揺れないし、むしろ波を感じる疾走感で爽快だったけど、下の子が、最初は波に揺られているのが怖い様子だったので、危険はないけど、ちょっと早かったかな。
ダイアモンドヘッドの向こう側まで回り込む一時間半のクルーズ。行きは気分が高揚、帰りは少し冷静にという感じなので、高い・安いは、ギリギリ意見が別れるかも知れないけど、ハワイ体験した気分になり、僕は良かったです。
みんなが書いている通り、前々からビーチのヨットが気になっていたし、日本の湘南だとプログラムは違えど、２～３倍はかかるし。

なお、約４０人の満員でしたが、日本人は我が家族のみ。英語は余り分からなかったけど、波を感じ風を感じるだけなので、言葉は関係ないですもんね。

We absolutely loved this boat and its staff. I can to Hawaii to visit my sorority sister. So one might imagine how we partied in our college days. Although this wasn't a wild rager, the staff was hilarious, other passengers were super friendly, and the boat was fun (liquor helped). From beginning to end the whole experience was effortless and well worth every penny. We are actually making it a tradition every time we go to Hawaii. It's good for all ages and an amazing way to experience the beauty of Waikiki.

Boarding on the beach side of the Sheraton Waikiki. The waves were a bit rough, so my clothes got wet, but they dried quickly. As we moved away, the tall hotels of Waikiki became smaller, and as soon as we passed Diamond Head and entered the open sea, the waves got higher, creating an exhilarating thrill as the waves splashed onto the boat. Once we were in the open sea, the wind picked up and the waves became higher, so please participate in clothing that can get wet.
