Me and my boyfriend went during our stay in Waikiki and we had such a fantastic time. Even my boyfriend who is hesitant about boats/water activities loved it. The staff was so friendly and funny. It wasn't too crowded as a covid 19 precaution which was nice. And the mai tai's were 10/10.

Specific shoutout to Jeff on the crew. He made our trip even more amazing with some recommendations for hikes and food spots and he was just plain fun to talk to!

Our first time going on a sunset cruise since the pandemic started

This was the first activity/cruise my boyfriend and I went on since the pandemic started in March. Now that things on Oahu are opening up again we wanted to get out and have a nice evening. When we checked in on the beach, one of the crew members (wearing a mask) provided hand sanitizer and had us both sign in. Then we boarded and were served drinks right away (corona beer or maitais). Oahu's current regulations allow boats to carry 25% capacity on tours, so manu kai is allowed to have 12 passengers on board now. This actually made it really enjoyable because there was so much room to spread out across the catamaran. As for masks, the crew didn't enforce face masks or social distancing to any extent. The only time you were told to put on a mask was at check-in, boarding, and de-boarding. Once you're on the boat, you were told you didn't have to wear it and none of the crew members were wearing masks during the cruise. Overall I'd say they did the bare minimum, if that, for preventing the spread of coronavirus so I'd recommend going for a sunset cruise that is really putting in more effort to keep their guests and community safe.

When I come to Hawaii, I always make sure to include sunset sailing in my plans. Once you experience it, you'll be hooked! I thoroughly enjoyed sailing while taking in views of Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head, as well as watching the beautiful sunset.

This time, what impressed me the most was encountering a pod of dolphins. At first, I could see something like dorsal fins peeking through the waves, and they occasionally jumped to show themselves. Sometimes they even twisted while jumping... They swam alongside the boat for a long time, which was so exciting that I couldn't take my eyes off them. Seeing dolphins swimming in the ocean for the first time truly made me feel "amazing!"

After the sun sets, the temperature drops, so a windbreaker is necessary. I'm really looking forward to what discoveries await on my next sailing!

I really like it. Why? Because there are few Japanese people. So I hope there won't be more! (A honest opinion) I ride every time, but this was my first experience with high waves. The meeting place changed suddenly, and we had to walk to board the boat. Once on board, the staff was as pleasant as always, and I was very satisfied. They remembered the alcohol I had last time, and we had a great conversation. Basic Japanese isn't understood, but you can still have a good time. Time flies by quickly. Depending on the day, snacks are provided, but sometimes they aren't. I think it's fine to bring your own.

I participated on March 13 with my two sons. It was one of the activities we were really looking forward to, but... the meeting place was very difficult to find, and we ended up walking around a lot. When we finally arrived at the meeting spot and were waiting, a group of foreign young people came and cut in line as if it was normal, one by one, until we found ourselves at the very back. They were already drunk and making a lot of noise before we even got on the yacht.

I was satisfied that we could see the Hilton fireworks straight on, but the whole time it felt like they only cared about having fun themselves, and it was just a constant ruckus, which made it not enjoyable at all. It was just cold and not fun, and I wanted to go home quickly. I regretted that I should have spent my money and time on something else.

Since it was a trip to celebrate my son's entrance exams and it was his first time overseas, I signed up thinking he would enjoy it, but honestly, I was very disappointed. I will definitely not repeat this experience.

We participated as a family of four. For those who couldn't drink alcohol, there were soft drinks available. At first, we were served a drink made with juice and gin (?), and then we could refill our drinks; our family finished a bottle of champagne. I'm glad I went! The sunset sinking into the ocean in Hawaii was amazing. I didn't plan to drink, but the staff kept making Mai Tais and handed them to me forcefully. (laughs) Among a few Asian couples, including my husband and me, the staff was very energetic and explained everything in English, but everyone was friendly and it felt very cheerful. Other guests were the same. During the cruise, they played music continuously, making it quite lively during the sunset moment. I ended up buying the photo taken before boarding. It was a pretty good picture with the boat and Diamond Head in the background.

If you plan to drink alcohol at the reception area, you will need to show your passport and get a stamp on the back of your hand. You will need to show this stamp when ordering alcohol on board. You will wait for about 15 minutes before boarding. After that, a group photo will be taken in front of the ship. (After the cruise, when you disembark, they will ask you in English if you would like to buy the developed photo for $20, so you can purchase it there if you're interested.)

Once on board, all announcements will be made in English. I don't understand the content, but the sunset is beautiful, and the people around are cheerful, which makes it enjoyable just to watch. For those who cannot drink alcohol, soft drinks like pineapple juice are available, so there's no need to worry. There are no snacks, but towards the end, a small bag of potato chips will be passed around for each person. If you're worried about getting seasick, it might be a good idea to have a little something to eat before boarding.

Lastly, there is a restroom on the ship (in the lower deck), but it is a bit unclean for Japanese standards. When I went in, there was no toilet paper, so it's a good idea to bring tissues just in case. It's best to use the restroom before boarding! 悪酔いしないように心配な方は少しお腹を満たしてから乗ったほうがいいかと思います。
最後に、船の中(船底)にトイレはありますが、日本人にはちょっと耐えがたい汚さです。また、私が入った際にはトイレットペーパーが無かったので、念のためティッシュは持っていったほうがいいかと思います。
トイレは乗船前にあらかじめ済ませたほうがいいです！でも我慢できずトイレを利用する際には女性のインストラクター？の方に声をかけると場所を教えてくださいます。

It's a very popular tour, though, so book ahead on line to assure that you are able to have the experience. If your staying on Waikiki Beach, you can just walk down the beach to get on board. I participated in the sunset cruise on a catamaran. On the day of the event, we gathered at the catamaran booth located by the beachside of the Sheraton Hotel. There were already participants gathered, and once on board, there were about 40 people, creating a lively atmosphere.
It was an open bar, and the cocktail called Mai Tai was very delicious. I thought the drink list was also extensive and great.
The sunset was magnificent, and I was able to spend a wonderful time on the waters of Hawaii. It was a thoroughly satisfying two hours.

The participants were multinational. The crew spoke English, but there was no language barrier. They did a great job of keeping the atmosphere lively. There was a wide variety of drinks, and the sunset over Waikiki from the sea was amazing. I would love to go again. However, when you drink, you will need to go to the restroom... Be sure to take care of that before boarding. It seems there is a restroom in the bottom of the boat in case of emergencies. Just let the crew know.
