We gathered in front of the marina's dock. Despite the boat being named "Sashimi II," it was a bit disappointing that no one spoke Japanese at all. I was the only Japanese participant, but if you have a little experience with fishing, you can understand how to use the equipment and the fishing techniques. I was able to grasp most of the explanations through gestures.

The bait was cut squid, and we used a simple bottom fishing setup with a two-hook rig and weights. We fished while changing points from the marina to off Waikiki and Diamond Head. The scenery was beautiful, providing double the enjoyment.

Everyone except for my husband and me were foreigners. If you don't set the audio guide to Japanese, you won't understand the explanations at all. However, since the boat rocks a lot on the way, it's better to have motion sickness medication. It was thrilling to transfer from the boat to the submarine. Moving in the middle of the ocean to the submarine was amazing. When a sea turtle swam close to the window, I was so impressed! It was great to encounter various fish as well.

Traveling by boat was quite thrilling, and it was so rocky that it would have been dangerous if I hadn't taken motion sickness medication! If you arrive exactly on time for the meeting (10:30 AM for an 11:00 AM start), you will end up waiting for a full 30 minutes. Unfortunately, the explanation during the pre-monitoring was difficult to understand. However, we do some practice on the sandy beach, and the instructor provides support while we're on the water.

During my first attempt, I couldn't catch any waves and felt a bit down, but on the second try, the instructor taught me the tips again, and after that, I was able to enjoy it a lot. Most of the other participants were also first-timers, but everyone managed to ride the waves. Before starting, they ask if you want the photo option for $65, and I think not ordering this was a mistake (I believe they were taking photos with a drone).

During Mr. Ogawa's show, I was even called upon as the only participating Japanese person, which allowed me to feel a sense of unity with the other audience members, transcending the language barrier in what felt like a brief but enjoyable hour.

I've been to Hawaii over twenty times, but since I usually focus on outdoor activities, it was a great decision to participate in a show this time. It was truly enjoyable to see Mr. Ogawa's magic, which is said to be the best in the world, up close.

We traveled with four adults and a baby, making reservations staggered at 11:00 for two people and 12:00 for two people, while taking turns watching the baby in the shade of the neighboring Hilton Lagoon! I was a little late for the scheduled meeting time, but when I called to inform them, they said they would wait for 20 minutes. I made it just in time to sign the agreement. The practical instructions were clear, and I was able to get on the board right away. There were three of us participating, but since there were two instructors, they provided guidance tailored to each participant's level, allowing us to have a meaningful experience. For those who were capable, they encouraged us to try new things, like riding the waves alongside the instructors or going out to where the big waves were. For those who were less experienced, they offered experiences in areas with moderate waves, and if someone wanted to try the big waves, they made it possible!

Having experienced many shows across Hawaii, I must say the Magical Mystery Show in Waikiki stands out as one of the absolute best. Accompanied by my 10-year-old niece, we were both completely mesmerized by the sheer brilliance of this performance.

The ambiance and decor of the venue transported us back to the enchanting Victorian era, and it was a delightful immersion into a world of wonder and magic. Not to mention convenience of its location made it very accessible for a non-driver like me :)

However, the true highlight was the exceptional magician whose performance was nothing short of spectacular. Their mastery and skill were evident in every act, and they had the audience's attention captivated throughout the show. My niece, in particular, was enthralled and thoroughly enjoyed every moment, and was so excited when she was called up to assist!

All in all, the Magical Mystery Show in Waikiki is an absolute gem, and definitely a must-see for anyone looking to have an evening filled with enchantment and awe~
