My fiance and I had such a wonderful time on this cruise! It was our first time snorkeling, and we were a little nervous (for fellow first timers, the apparatus feels a little uncomfortable and claustrophobic on the boat, but feels so much better in the water)! However, the whole crew put us at ease and were super patient with us, helping us to get the perfect fit with our goggles and apparatus. Nicole even gave me one of her hair ties when I forgot mine! The lifeguards were great, helping us to find the best spots to watch turtles and fish, taught us a ton, and even dove down to get an octopus for us to pet. They were great about checking on everyone and making sure we were ok, comfortable, and having fun. The music and mai tais were excellent, and everyone was so friendly and sweet. They offered to take pictures without us even asking! This cruise is such an amazing deal for the price, and was for sure one of the highlights of our first trip to Oahu. My only advice is to be near Duke's at the Outrigger early, there is not super clear signage for where the boat comes in, so go to the bathroom and bring everything you might need so you have time to find the boat. We took a snorkel trip with the Moana boat crew and had a fantastic experience. We set sail on the beautiful catamaran at 0830 and to head out see the sea turtles at the infamous 'shell-cleaning' reef which is located just outside the breakers off Waikiki beach. Our Capt for the day, Anthony, was personable, friendly and made us all feel welcome aboard the boat. Zack and Sarah were the other two crew members and they were friendly, professional, and very helpful throughout the entire trip. 100% would sail with this crew again. Bring some tip $ for them, because they definitely deserve it. Book a tour today!
The snorkel site is popular and several boats are in the area, which is nice because you don't feel like you're out in the middle of the ocean alone. It can get busy with everyone trying to see the turtles and fish so be sure to keep an eye on the surface as well as watching what is below. Some turtles even come over to our boat and I snapped a photo (attached to this review). Overall water depth is about 20-30 feet and even on a cloudy & murky day (like ours) we could easily see numerous fish and several large sea turtles. We were even lucky enough to see Humpback whales (mom & baby)!!
We booked our trip in mid/late Feb and it was overcast & rainy. A bit chilly at times, but come prepared and it's a fun trip regardless. Plenty of covered space to store dry items, but a "drybag" is a nice touch on any beach/water adventure.
We booked the 0830 trip to maximize sea life activity which also resulted in 2 families being on the boat....8 people total. Virtually a private tour! When we pulled back into the pier for the next tour there were about 20-25 people waiting for the next tour. And, parking at the marina is easier before the crowds arrive.
We saw lots of fish and turtles almost the whole time snorkeling. I highly recommend this tour. It was only an hour and a half from getting out there in the catamaran to docking back in. The beverages, especially the Mai Tai’s were delicious as well.
We were able to participate as a family. There was an initial explanation, but I could hardly understand it in English. Just before entering the water, I realized that wearing the rental life jackets was not optional for those diving; everyone had to wear one. It would be easier to understand if there were boards displaying information in multiple languages.
The snorkeling was fantastic, with clear weather and a wonderful encounter with a turtle. There were some waves as we headed out to sea, and I got a bit seasick. Participants should be cautious about that. However, even in that situation, I felt safe. The staff were kind and helped me recover quickly.
At the end, we took a commemorative photo with the staff. It was a great memory to be able to swim with the turtle as well.

Absolutely loved my excursion with this crew. Hands down the best snorkeling experience I had. There were 4 crew members and all were very nice and accommodating. They made us feel at home with drink service (juice, water, alcohol) as well as an awesome playlist. One of the guys, Justin (with long blonde hair) was in the water with us guiding us to where the turtles were. He even dove with my GoPro and got some epic footage. The trip all-in-all was about 90 min, which is perfect. I think a longer tour would have been too much personally. We spent a little over an hour in the water. HIGHLY recommend booking this trip. The staff (captain and 2 mates and life guard) were exceptionally helpful. They explained everything, we’re very prompt and watchful. We saw the turtles at Turtle Canyon…AMAZING! I’m so sorry I don’t remember the crew’s names, but suffice it to say, they were excellent. Reviewed safety cautions and had refreshing beverages for the trip home.
We loved our turtle snorkelling experience and the staff were very helpful and friendly! We only wish we had a bit more time in the water but overall a great trip!

Unfortunately the water was very choppy the day we went out and I experienced pretty bad seasickness the whole time. Unfortunately they did not have anti-nausea medicine like Dramamine on board. It was a very bad couple hours for me unfortunately.
It does get pretty crowded around the snorkelling site, as there are lots of tour boats which will come to Turtle Canyon.
The site is close to Waikiki Beach, so it's a pretty short boat ride.
The turtles will occasionally surface. Make sure to stay six feet away from them to give them some room.
I participated once before the COVID-19 pandemic and had a very valuable experience, so I joined again after about three years! On the day I participated, the wind was strong and the waves were high, which reduced the water's clarity. As a result, when the honu dove, it quickly became hard to see them, and I didn't spot them as often as during my previous visit. However, I was able to see a few honu, and just as I was about to head back to the boat, I spotted a large pod of dolphins in the distance. One of them jumped high like in a dolphin show, and I was so excited! Just when I thought the excitement couldn't get any better, the pod of dolphins started swimming towards us, and in the end, I was able to swim with the dolphins too! It was the best experience to encounter both honu and dolphins!

私が参加した日は風が強く波が高かったため、海の透明度が低く、ホヌが潜ってしまうとすぐに見えなくなってしまい、前回参加した際よりもホヌを見える回数があまり多くありませんでした。しかし、何度かホヌを見ることができたため、船に戻ろうとしたところ、遠くにイルカの大群を見つけ、一匹はイルカショーのように大きくジャンプしてくれて、大興奮していました！大興奮していたのも束の間、だんだんとイルカの大群が私たちの方に泳いできて、最終的にはイルカとも泳ぐことができました‼︎

This was such a fun snorkeling tour!! Food was delicious and the entertainment was on point. Natalie treated our family so well. Will definitely re book the next time we make another trip to Honolulu.

This was a wonderful trip. The crew was phenomenal. They were very attentive to the passengers and were extremely knowledgeable about the area and the marine life present. In addition to the turtles promised, we even spotted the first whales of the season (quite early, in fact) and had dolphins come right up to use within the reef, also a rare happening. One of the nicest things about this group is that, even though their vessel can hold up to 80 passengers, they keep the number of people in the group small in order to make it a much more enjoyable and interactive experience. I would highly recommend this group for their professionalism and attention to detail. If I had more time on my trip, I believe I would have taken this trip again or one of their other offerings. It is WELL WORTH the low price, and I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting a truly magical snorkeling adventure.

This was an awesome experience! My husband and I were on our honeymoon and first time snorkelers. The crew was very informative and helpful. They were fun and clearly enjoyed their jobs! We were able to see so many turtles up close as well as hold a sea urchin! This has definitely sparked our want to go scuba diving now!

I’m not sure if my expectations were too high or what but it wasn’t what I was expecting. I still had a good time and we did see one turtle. The crew was great so no complaints there. As far as the beer and cocktails go….they offer them to you about 10 minutes before you get off the boat so you have time for about one lol!! The day we went there really wasn’t even hardly any fish to see. Plus there were so many other boats in the same exact place it just felt crowded.
The trip was awesome. The whole crew was amazing and very friendly and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend. Also got to see to some turtles at turtle cove and some beautiful fish. After the trip they also have complimentary drinks after you snorkel. I would post pictures that the photographer took, but we haven’t seen them yet.
Sehr schöne Tour, Moana Team nett, kompetent, freundlich. Man sieht viele Schildkröten. Aber, der Spot vor Waikiki ist overcrowded, viele Auslugsboote kommen dorthin, mit ebenso vielen anderen Schnorchlern. Leider sind nicht alle rücksichtvoll und halten sich an die Regeln (dont touch the turtles, keep distance). Wenn das so weitergeht kann man drauf warten, dass der Spot zum Schutz der turtles geschlossen werden wird :-(
I booked the morning turtle snorkel tour hoping that time would ensure we saw turtles and we did! There were 5 turtles and occasionally 1 would surface near us and then swim back down. Great experience seeing them up close.
This tour was the best price I found and since it's a short sail, glad I did.
