I arranged for the lei greeting to surprise my son and his new bride. Their flight was 3 hours late but at 1 am they were greeted at the gate...that is above and beyond the call of duty! If only the car rental people had been so customer oriented. Thanks for being there. I would have read your comment board guidelines but they were in Japanese!

This was fantastic - recommended by friends, enjoyed by us parents and the teenagers.
The dinner was great, with foods I've never heard of living in the lower 48. The shows are well done, and very unique.
I've never seen anything like it, and if I have the opportunity, I will certainly return.

Transportation was convenient and our guide Trina made the trip entertaining. At the luau, they were very organized in dividing the guests into their seating areas. The crafts during free time and the staff assisting were excellent, though an hour wasn't enough time to get to all of the crafts. Dinner was very tasty, especially the kalua pork. As a previous reviewer has mentioned on this site, the drink coupons are valid only for certain drinks, but premium drinks can be purchased for an additional $3-7, depending on the drink and size. Please note it is a cash only bar. The bar was not well staffed, but the tour guides would fetch drinks for the guests, so at least we didn't have to stand in long lines. The bartenders were free with the quantities of alcohol going into the drinks. The dancing show was good, but I have seen better, particularly at the Polynesian Cultural Center. However, the PCC does not serve alcohol or caffeine. Also, this was the only time during our week stay on Oa

From the moment we got on the bus, we felt like we were in America! The two of us, a pair of middle-aged women, were entering a different world. Even though we didn't understand the language, we were in high spirits.
We were able to chat with a lawyer family from California, and everyone around us was very friendly. We were completely satisfied with everything! I think it's more enjoyable than being in a place with only Japanese people. I highly recommend it to everyone. With just a little courage and guts, it was really great!

The Polynesian Cultural Center was a great experience! We rented a car and went for the day rather than booking a tour. The Samoan presentation was very funny as well as a learning experience as all presentations are! We were able to try some of the things that we learned from the presentations. Our kids loved collecting the stamps, and the prize at the end. It was an enriching experience that I recommend all to try at least once. We did not attend a luau on property, so I cannot relay any recommendations for that.

First I have to say you MUST ask for JUAN as your guide. He is a native of Kauai. He is not only EXTREMELY knowlegeable of the Island, Juan has a great sense of humor, full of great stories retold to him by his grandfather, native histories, is a wealth of information. The Canyon is fasinating to see, as well as the Water Falls that we stopped along the way to witness. Juan told us local folk lore regarding the Sleeping Giant; Sprouting Horn.
Juan is WORTH THE TRIP in himself!

ALOHA!
I see. Just like the reviews from experienced travelers said, my wife and I were the only Japanese tourists.
No matter if I looked to the right or the left, it felt like I was in the West!
The guide on the BUS was chatting away. It was so fast that I couldn't keep up with the interpretation.
Moreover, since we went on the same day we arrived, my brain wasn't in English mode and I was sleepy...
I feel like both my wife and I were mostly asleep while moving on the BUS. I think I occasionally woke up and said "TOW" or something.
The BUS number was 2.
Before the stage started, there were various performances happening here and there, but with my sleepy head, I couldn't really understand what was going on.
However, these activities were fine even without understanding the language.
They were peeling coconuts with stakes stuck in the ground, climbing coconut trees, and doing hula lessons.
The stage show during dinner was wonderful.
At one point, it got dark, and I thought, "Oh, is it already over? They can't just turn off the lights, can they?" But that was just the beginning.
There was a fire dance and amazing lighting effects, and I had a great time.
The roots of HAWAIIAN culture can be understood through the dance and costumes, tracing back from Southeast Asia to Micronesia, Polynesia, and then to the Hawaiian Islands.
It was a great learning experience.

I have been to Luau's before (on Maui and on Oahu) and was disappointed with this one. It was so "commercial" and lacking in the real feel of island music and culture. I suppose it was way bigger than any other I had been to so the sheer numbers make it a logistical problem.
I like to see something more genuine than that.
I had been to the Polynesian Cultural Centre and consider that they covered what I was looking for in a much more genuine mannner. That sort of concert material combined with a "real" cooking of food in the earth would have been better. There was not even any steam as the food was taken out of the "earth oven" - an anticlimax.
Our bus tour driver was dreadful but the staff at the actual site were brilliant. Overall though a disappointment.

This was great and well worth the money. I would have liked to stay longer in a couple of areas and there were some activities that we didn't get to do because of time. I would suggest taking snacks or packing a picnic as you really didn't have time to buy a lunch. At a couple of the attractions you were offered ice cream to buy, but not anything more substantial. Both the dinner entertainment and the Polynesian show after dinner were awesome. Going back a 2nd time, I would go on my own and wander.

What an awesome luau! It was our first time to Oahu, and our first time to a luau, and we highly recommend going to Paradise Cove!
The hostess on board our bus (#6) was funny and engaged the crowd. The events leading up to the meal, and show were quite entertaining, and the drinks from the bar were YUMMY!!
I made a bracelet from fresh flowers and TI leaves, and I even got a tattoo.
The show was AMAZING, and the food was quite good, too! We only chose the basic package, with 2 drinks, shell leis, and buffet seating, and were really happy with everything! Buy the photo they take when you arrive...great souvenir!
Can't wait to come back when my kids are a little older - we will definitely bring the family to

My family and I absolutely loved visiting the Polynesian Cultural Center while in Oahu. I highly recommend spending the extra money and getting the Ambassador All day package. You will get a very personal tour guide (we had Diliana and she was awesome!) of all the Polynesian villages. My husband gets bored pretty easily and not ONCE did he get restless during the entire day. You are kept well entertained and learn a lot about the Polynesian cultures. The luau and the food was great, and the Night Show was fantastic! Very high energy and entertaining. I highly recommend visiting the PCC !
