Oahu
We had an amazing time on this tour, and our tour guide Rodolph was very friendly and knowledgable. I totally recommend this tour while visiting Hawaii-a sight worth experiencing.
This excursions was excellent. We did the hike and the bike ride. I wish the waterfall actually had some water falling down but that was beyond the control of the guides. The bike ride was amazing and the lunch view was breath taking.
Helpful driver(young man but forgot name..sorry). Mosquito repellent and walking stick. Thought about taking bus, but the last stop is a bit of a distance from trailhead. This shuttle expedites the process. Picked up and dropped off at Waikiki hotel. If you have limited time on the island I would definitely recommend this tour. The hike itself is not overly demanding in dry conditions. Wife and I are in 50's and in so-so condition. I thought this was easier than Diamond Head hike, which wasn't difficult either. Probably an entirely different story if wet and rainy. Get off the beach and experience another aspect of the island. Enjoyed it.
Mike was brilliant, guiding us safely down the mountain on the bikes and then staying in the cool ocean until all of us were out of the water and finished snorkelling. Would happily recommend this activty to family and friends. Next time we will also do the hike.
Mike, our tour guide was very informative and made the trip exciting for us.
My husband and I did not finish all three activities due to too much sun exposure. It was exhausting. We did not go snorkeling, however, the hike was interesting (I'm not an outdoorsy person) and the downhill bike was the our personal favorite. Next time, we will do it again, but I can go without the hike.
In January, it was too cold for adults to swim in the ocean or pool, so I joined a hiking tour.
As we progressed, the guide explained about the plants and animals in the tropical rainforest, and we ended up seeing a waterfall. I had thought Hawaii was just about the beaches, but it was great to walk through such a tropical rainforest at a distance and difficulty level that even preschoolers could manage.
I highly recommend this tour for those who are tired of the beaches in Hawaii. It might be especially good for families with children, as it's also beneficial for their English education.

The hike was one of the highlights of my trip. I loved the river crossings even though the river made all of my clothes really wet and went up to my chest, since I am only 4'11". Keola taught us many Hawaiian words including freshwater, wai, saltwater, Kai, and Life, Keola. He was very knowledgable about the history of the island and the Kamehameha family. The best part was probably talking with our fellow hikers and the small lake where we ate lunch. We will definitely do one of the other tours as well.

I wanted to go to Manoa Falls and this was the best bet for me and my friends. It was inexpensive, easy and did the job! Would do it again :)
Mahalo for your review
Mike was an excellent guide. I have been to Hawaii several times for work and, in this case, had stayed an extra weekend with my wife. We had a great time. Mike was very knowledgable of the local geological history and botanical environment. We even got to see a dart frog which my local friends from Hawaii were amazed that we got to experience that. And the bike ride was a great finish to the day. The hike was definitely muddy but worth slogging through the bamboo to get to the waterfall.
We did the hike/bike/sail/snorkel and had one of the best days of our entire time on the island! Our guide was EXTREMELY knowledgeable and loved our entire tour!
Come do this activity after you've been partaking a little too much on the first days of your vacation! Earlier is better due to the heat. Superb views of nearly a third of the island!
Rain excluded all views. Otherwise nice hike. Driver courteous and informative
Amazing & would highly recommend this hike! We were originally scheduled to do the Makapuu Lighthouse Trail as well, but unfortunately they closed the trail a few days before we arrived. We were notified by the tour company in plenty of time & just went on the hike to Diamond Head. We were refunded the difference & everything else went off without a hitch. We were a little confused about the pick up location, but the driver took the time to call us & guide us to the right area. Job well done guys! Mahalo!
The guide picked us up at the hotel and shuttled us to the trailhead. From there its pretty easy hike up to the Manoa Falls.
Amazing experience!
My dad and I did this adventure. You can really appreciate the nature of the hike. It was a lot of obstaclews getting around, but there's a lot you can see that you cant see anywhere else. I got tons of misquito bites during the hike, but so worth it! Matt was our guide and was very kind and knowledgeable. The bike trail was beautiful! Was able to see the whole view of Waikiki.
The shuttle service was right on time at the pick-up location. He also had some interesting tips on making the hike up to the lookout point. The views are indeed great!
Our guide was very knowledgeable about history of Hawaii and some of the plants and trees we came across on the hike. I enjoyed tasting the fruits we picked along the way. He also was very accommodating and kind since it was our first time to hike in the area. Though our guide did a great job, I expected more out of the hike. Yes, the hike was challenging in the sense that we walk along the edge and on rocky terrain;however it was not scenic and it felt like the hike was too short. The swimming hole was not a swimming hole to me. It look like a little creek and the water was not clear as I expected. I also expected to see a waterfall along the way, but didn't get to see any. I had more fun hiking on our own when we went to Maui, the road to Hana, because of the scenic view on top of the great work out we got from it. In short, not memorable and it was like something was missing.
In the first half, we rode bikes, and after lunch, we went hiking. There were no other Japanese guests besides us, but the guide had a wide range of knowledge and trivia, providing various topics to keep us engaged. Coming to Hawaii and being able to communicate without any language barrier made the travel experience feel less authentic; however, it was a great opportunity to focus on native speaking. The private jungle felt so unlike Hawaii, it was like escaping into the worlds of Lost or Jurassic Park. They provided insect repellent, but we were the only ones in long pants and boots; the other tour guests were getting bitten by mosquitoes.
Our guide was Mathias (Mai Tai) lol...
He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable!!
Very personable and funny too. Hike was great, a few challenges but overall pretty easy.. We did not use boots and came back a bit muddy. But we are used to that back in PA. Highly recommend these fellas... Small group and shows with their personal touches!! Two thumbs up & mahalo for a great hike!!!
Hiking to Diamond Head's top is a must! Great views, and great feeling of accomplishment. Don't forget to buy a certificate at the top!
This hike was single-handedly only of the best moments of my entire trip/the best hike I have ever been on! The tour guide was knowledgeable and fun, which made the trip very exciting!
We met Keola Nui at the North Shore Market Place, he introduced himself and let us know we would be the only ones on the hike that day. We could not have asked for a better guide. Nui was very knowledgeable about the land we were going to be hiking on, letting us know about the different farms along the road to the trail. He explained the history behind the current lay out of the farms. When we arrived at the trailhead, there was a light mist falling as Nui offered a prayer to the land in the native tongue to reassure it that we were there on peaceful terms. The trail itself was unbelievably beautiful. There were moments where we were complete enclosed in the jungle, then, it would open up to expose the sky and the mountain stream below. Again, Nui was very knowledgable about the flora and fauna, explaining the difference between the native and invasive plants. We encountered a few berries along the trail that we were able to sample, they tasted very much like raspberries. We hiked in for a couple of hours and ended up having lunch on some rocks in the middle of the stream, very cool!!! We then headed back, though there was much more to be seen, we were on a schedule and did not have the time to hike any further. When we had packed away our gear, Nui drove us the the Boy Scout Camp nearby to an absolutely incredible overlook...we did not want to leave!!! This is definitely a hike everyone should try, you'll learn so much about Oahu. Thank you Nui for a truly outstanding experience!!!
Thanks so much for your kind words! We're so happy you all enjoyed your hike!
If your family is into the outdoors and adventure that is totally off the beat and path, book this tour. It is exclusive as the park is not accessible to the public. So you know, our family age ranges from 13 to 51. It was breathtaking- literally - not only from the views, but from the hiking. We hiked up the mountain trails crossing streams.
Our guides, Nui and Holly we very knowledgeable not only with the history but the plants and trees of the land.
The treat was to hike to a secluded pond and jump into the cool waters! Wow!
A bit of advice, wear comfortable shoes and water shoes are a must! Crossing the streams can be a bit challenging, as are some areas during the hike. Definitely grab a walking stick. It is about a 6 mile hike, 3 up and 3 back. All was about 6 hours.
Lunch is provided and we packed extra water. Nui and Holly were hands on assisting the entire hike. Awesome people! Mahalo!
Thanks so much Stoner family for joining Nui and I, it was great meeting you folks! I'm so glad you all had fun, we hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip!
Thanks again!
Holly :)
This was the highlight of my vacation in Oahu. It was very well organized. We were a group of about 7 adults and 5 kids (mostly 9 year old)). The van picked us up on time and drove us to a privately owned rain-forest. Our tour-guide was extremely knowledgeable and patient. The hike wouldn't have been the same without his interesting facts. The hike itself was easy (even for the kids) but can get slippery/muddy. I would recommend using the rainboots they offered. The time went by fast; it was a nice break to be outside in a totally shaded area. We were later joined by more kids (12 kids total) and grown ups for the downhill bike ride. At first it seemed intimidating, but the tour guides did an excellent job in making sure we were safe (there was a van behind the group that alerted the guide upfront if any cars were coming by). The lunch provided (sandwiches) was delicious. The snorkeling part was my least favorite (for personal reasons...I just couldn't get the hang of it...first timer). I would recommend wearing the swimsuits underneath the hike/bike clothes, that way you don't have to change on the boat (crammed).
This was a self-guided hike to diamond head. Our driver (forgot his name, I think it was Pablo) informed us about the trail & also gave us some background about Diamond Head. Water bottle was provided. Worth the hike! Amazing views from above.
I live here on the island and do a good amount of hiking. I thought this hike was pretty cool! Our guide, Nui, was extremely knowledgeable about the Hawaiian culture and plants in the area. The trail has TONS of strawberry guava and mountain apple trees along it. He pointed out plants that were native. He also pointed out the invasive plants, the problems they cause, and how or why they were brought here. It was very interesting! What made this hike special for me was is that we were hiing deep into the mountains where there aren't any houses or sign of urban development in view. This is quite rare for me. Most of the hikes I've done, known or less known, have some area that shows a city or buildings or concrete structures. Nui also stopped at a campsite to let us get some beautiful scenic pictures. This was my favorite part of the trip. The view of rows of ridges and the valley that we were hiking in was breathtaking.
Aloha Ashley,
Mahalo nui for your thoughtful and much appreciated review.
We are glad that you had a wonderful time, and you have taken great pictures of all the fun that you could have on our hike. We look forward to seeing out on our other tours as well!

Our guide really knew his stuff, and was a fun guy! It was nice to take a trail that not everyone takes as it had more of an adventurous feeling. It was beautiful, and the perfect length of time.
Me and and my girlfriend both liked the young guides who picked us up at the North Shore Marketplace parking lot. It was just us two so we felt very privilidged. The Hawaiian guide drove for about 20 min through many farms and got to know much abut them and who owned them, unfortunately much of the land were rented by Monsantos. Part of the drive was very bumpy but became much better when we got unto the military roads. The hike was not that hard mostly because the water wasn´t that high this time. It was partly slippery but our sneekers was enough to manage it. There were some very niice sceneries and crossig over the river and the mountain pool swim at the summit was very pleasent and just what we needed after a 2.5 hours hike. We got to use helmets but just for a very short time. The lunch was two wraps each and was more than enough for us.
The hawaiian native guide told us much about the the hawaiian culture and the problems hawaiians have had keeping their language alive. We also got to know about much about the different plants and trees, and the tight bond to nature hawaiina have had, he also made a hawaiian chant to the forrest when we just started the hike which was very nice to hear. We would recommend this hike to all our friends.
Thanks so much for the kind words... we're so glad you two enjoyed yourselves!
wow! Cannot even describe the experience we had.... I really wanted my mother to enjoy this the most and it was great! Although she could not make the hike (because of knee surgery) she had a blast and patiently waited for me to tour and get the pictures for her to cherish.... The hike is a challenge for people with balance issuees, walking, and stairs!!!!! When you climb, you climb but overall we had a perfect and safe trip to this landmark that will be cherished!!!!
We really enjoyed all activities. Our guide Jeremy was informative and made the day very enjoyable. Would recommend the hike bike sail snorkel. All Places interesting and gave us different views of Oahu
