It was a fun and quick two hours.

Swaying on the back of a horse while gazing at the magnificent scenery is an experience you can only have here. The horseback riding at Turtle Bay was pleasant as it walked along the coast, but at Kualoa, you can enjoy a different kind of refreshing feeling. However, most of the areas are not shaded, so it might be hot in the summer. It seems better to wear a hat.

It didn't seem like they would pick up a camera if you dropped it while riding, so be sure to bring a strap when you take it with you.

Me, I am not a horse lover. But I had a fantastic time. The horses were wonderful and easy to navigate.

My daughter, she rides every week. She loved the ride along the beach and really enjoyed riding western for a change.

My was has ridden before. She was a bit of a sceptic, but the beach ride got her too. She thoroughly enjoyed the ride and would love to do it again.

The ride itself was very nice along the beach area. I was a first time rider and the staff work with me providing instructions on controlling the horse, so don't be afraid to try this experience if you have never rode a horse.

The only difficulty is that we were staying in Waikiki and the event took place on the North Shore. There is no transportation options offered by the event, but we rented a car for the day and were able to tour more of the island following the ride.

Overall, I highly recommend this activity.

I really wanted to go horseback riding at Kualoa Ranch. It's a shame there’s no shuttle service. It takes an hour and a half by bus from Ala Moana, and I was worried about not having enough buses to get back. I was disappointed that I spent time on things other than horseback riding. I would really like to request that you consider offering a plan with shuttle service.

The place was about an hour away from Honolulu but that wasn't problem. The website said to be there 30 min early and we were but the horse handlers said that wasn't neccessary. They were short handed and we ended up waiting more than an hour to ride but the place was majestic so we weren't bothered by the wait. The guides prepared us and were concerned about everyones safety. The ride was perfect. They guides were professional and took time to take our pictures while we were on the beach. I would do it again and would recommend it to anyone visiting Hawaii.. It was a great family experience.

My family and I enjoy horseback riding but this one was not up to par. I booked a private lesson and was told we would be able to do more with the horses beside just walking them and also would not be a nose to tail ride but that's exactly what it was. We were told many things but none were true. A couple of the horses did not like having another horse so close to it's tail so they would constantly kick backwards. You're only on the beach for a short time to cross to the dusty path were you spend most of the time until you cross back over the beach to go back to the club. Our guide was also an unpleasant women who never spoke unless it was to tell us what we were doing wrong. It was definetely not worth the money we spent and would not go back.

It was an hour of horseback riding, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. There was a Japanese video with instructions, so there were no issues at all. The staff were very considerate towards us, even though our English wasn't great, and we had a great time. My backside got a bit sore, and since we couldn't gallop the horse, an hour was just enough.

I've been to Hawaii many times, and last year I participated in a horseback riding course in the North. This time, my daughter, who became hooked on horseback riding, insisted that we join a two-hour horseback riding course at Kualoa Ranch.

Unlike the North, here we were truly able to enjoy horseback riding while being gently rocked on the horse's back amidst breathtaking scenery and magnificent nature. It was an emotional experience to see the filming locations of Jurassic Park and the familiar landscapes from Lost on the vast grounds.

We were a team of six, and our guide, who is a fifth-generation Japanese American, was fluent in both Japanese and English. They frequently came back and forth from the front to the back where we were, taking care of us and chatting, so we had no worries or complaints and really enjoyed ourselves.

The two hours flew by. My son said it was the most fun he had during this trip. I highly recommend this tour! ☆

ハワイは何度も来ていて、去年はノースの乗馬コースに参加しました。そのときに乗馬にはまった娘にせがまれて、今回はクアロア牧場での乗馬2時間コースに参加しました。

Horseback riding has always been a really fun pastime for me, and I especially thought after seeing the ad on your site that this particular ride seemed different and unique. And it was!

The horses themselves are polo horses....and wow...are they beautiful. Very different from most ranch horses i have seen...and the ride itself...all I have ever been on have been on ranches along dusty trails or in the woods...THIS WAS ON THE BEACH...RIGHT BY THE WATER...IN HAWAII!! I honestly think I don't need to say anymore! On the beach...in Hawaii!

I choose this horsebackriding venue because of the website which stated they are not your typical trail ride. According to the ad we would not be riding nose to tail - that's exactly what we had to do--- also the ad stated we would be free to ride the horses to our ability-absolutely not, we were not allowed out of the line or to go faster than a walk or to go ahead of the guide-who was a most unpleasant woman. Also the beach part of the ride was very limited. The only high marks I give are to the horses!! They were not your typical trail horses. Overall I was disappointed, especially considering the high cost.

The explanation before horseback riding was just a simple Japanese video, so I was honestly quite anxious, but once I got on the horse, all my worries disappeared.

I understood that I needed to follow the horse in front of me, so when the horse in front stopped, I stopped too. When it moved, I moved. All the horses were very smart and didn’t stray off course at all. They are really clever!

This time, in addition to the four of us, there were two Westerners participating individually, making a total of six people plus one guide for the two-hour course.

The guide only knew simple Japanese necessary for horseback riding, like “kick with both feet” and “pull,” so all the explanations about the movie filming along the way were in English. I thought that maybe Japanese people tend to sign up for half-day courses, as there were not many participants in the two-hour course.

At the end, we passed by another group of about 20 people, who were mostly Japanese. They had a Japanese guide. If you want to hear explanations in Japanese, this course might be better for you.

The scenery was absolutely amazing, and the two hours flew by! Many movies, including "Lost," "Jurassic Park," and "Godzilla," were filmed here, and we also passed the filming location for the remake of "Journey to the Center of the Earth," which is scheduled for release in 2012.

It’s quite far from Waikiki to Kualoa Ranch, but if I have the chance, I would love to join the two-hour course again!

最後、ほかのグループとすれ違いましたが、20名ぐらい？の大人数でほぼ日本人のようでした。こちらは日本人ガイドさんがいらっしゃいました。説明を日本語で聞きたいのならこちらのコースがいいのかもしれません。

景色はとっても最高で、あっという間の2時間でした！
ロスト、ロストワールドやゴジラのほかにもたくさんの映画が撮影され、2012年に公開予定の「travel to the center of the earth」？のリメイク？撮影場所も通ります。

ワイキキからクアロア牧場までかなり遠いけど、機会があればまた2時間コースに参加したいです♪

a different kind of ride

My new husband and I booked a private ride with the Hawaii Polo Club while on our honeymoon. I've been on several other guided horseback trail rides in the past, but this was a little different. For one thing, the horses are actually polo-horses, not the standard "follow-the-leader" horses of a typical ranch. Because of this, you are better off if you have at least a little experience in handling horses. There were a few times that loud noises or unfamiliar things on the path caused some skittishness.

One thing that made me a little uncomfortable was that my activity voucher said we would need to sign a liability waiver before the ride. I assume this is a standard practice, but the staff at the club just saddled up our horses, and off we went. No forms, no waivers, they didnt even tell us their names, nor did they ask ours. Good thing (for them) our slightly skittish horses didnt dump us on our heads.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the ride on the beach, the views were a

I always appreciate Alan1's service. This is my second visit to Kualoa Ranch. During my first visit, I participated in a package that included transportation and allowed me to choose four activities, but I felt that the one-hour horseback riding was not enough. So this time, I signed up for a two-hour horseback riding course. The two-hour option offers a different route and allows you to go further in with a buggy, so I was able to fully enjoy the experience. However, since there was no transportation provided, it was quite challenging to get there from Waikiki on my own. I took the bus from Ala Moana, which took quite a bit of time, and since there are not many buses, I ended up spending a lot of time on travel before and after. It felt wasteful. Especially on the way back, the bus did not pass by at the scheduled time, and I had to wait nearly an hour for the next bus after the previous one had just left. It was getting quite dark, and I became anxious about whether I would make it back to Waikiki safely. I wish there were an option to request transportation for those who do not rent a car, even if it is at a higher price. I would like to go horseback riding again if the opportunity arises, and I would be happy if a transportation-inclusive plan is available by then.

This was an awesome ride on the beach. And YES you DO ride on the beach. The area is beautiful and could see the whales playing in the ocean as we rode. The white sands of the beaches against the turquoise water was breathtaking.

I took the private ride and it is definitely not a standard trail ride. The polo horses were very well behaved and easy to ride. I recommend this to anyone who loves horses and has always wanted to ride on the beach in Hawaii.

Would definitely book this again when back on the island.

I had a great time at Hawaii Polo ride! I've been on a horse before at a different commercial ranch, so I wasn't expecting much. Usually the horses are pretty worn down, tired and boring. Oh boy, this wasn't the case at all. All the horses at Hawaii Polo Club are well trained professional polo horses, so they are young, strong, muscular and ready to trot. They are just gorgeous to look at!

Even the guide from Argentine was a professional polo player/trainer, so he knew all about the horses. (I didn't know that Argentine was the capital of polo!) He explained to us what to do and what not to do with the horse. I was a bit nervous first since the horse was a professional polo horse, and you know what they say about how the horse can feel your fear! But the guide made me feel relaxed, and I definitely enjoy the ride on the beautiful beach on North Shore.

This is highly recommended! Very romantic for couples for sure.

I participated in the 2-hour course. It was definitely nice to be able to see the filming locations of the movie while riding a horse, but after a while, my backside started to hurt, and it became tough from the middle of the ride. However, it was a satisfying activity.

As a side note, the stalls selling drinks and other items close when the activity ends, so if you want to buy something, I recommend taking care of that before the activity starts.

We had an awesome time!!! The ride was fantastic, the views great, the lunch delicious, the horses perfect, Sarah and Heidi outstanding! It couldn't get any better than that. The girls got a kick out of my husband since he had never ridden before as well as being allergic to horses. He did great! Just enough breeze was blowing to keep the allergies at bay and his horse was the perfect babysitter. Thank you again!

Thank you for such a fantastic trail ride! Our guide, Brittany was great and it was so nice to have options for canter. Out of all the holiday riding experiences we have had, this has been the best by far. I can definitely say that if it wasn't for the 21 hour flight from the UK, we would be there every weekend!

I participated in a 2-hour horseback riding session. As I had read in previous reviews, the Japanese support here is not what you would expect in Waikiki. However, the stunning scenery and the refreshing experience of horseback riding without the mandatory helmets that you are often forced to wear in Japan is remarkable. The staff made a great effort to communicate, and I learned about the kukui nut tree, which is used for making leis, as we progressed through the ranch. Naturally, we encountered groups of cows along the way, which was fun. By the end of the 2 hours, my backside was in so much pain (I suffered from the pain for several days). Next time, when I go with friends, I plan to join the 2-hour course again.

さすがに、2時間が終わるころには、お尻が痛くて仕方ありませんでした（数日、痛みに苦しみました）。
次回、友達と行くときにも、もう一度2時間コースに参加する予定です。

I experienced horseback riding for the first time while learning to handle the reins. During the approximately two-hour ride, I was able to enjoy the magnificent scenery of Hawaii and visit movie filming locations, and the time flew by. The horse I rode didn't always listen to me and had some unexpected moments, like suddenly running off or stopping to eat, but it was a wonderful memory. Since you can't choose the horse, I think it's just luck of the day, but I believe all of them are good horses. The next day, I had muscle soreness and bruises.
