We took the "Home Of The Brave" tour and it is a day that will live in infamy for us. If you are a history buff, you will think you have died and gone to heaven. We spent our time with Brandon (the world's greatest and most informed tour guide) as he took us through the events leading up to and and including the attack on Pearl Harbor and ending at Punchbowl National Cemetery. If you do no other tour when you are on Oahu, this is the one to do. Brandon provided unique insight into the historical events leading up to the attack on Pearl Harbor. Because of his enthusiasm, we have since started to do our own research into the whole history that is available and not just the bits and pieces that we have seen through movies. This is just a bit if the info that we have found.

This is an exceptional tour and the best bang for your buck-so to speak. Thank you Brandon and Hawaii Activities.

Our guide was coughing into the mike as he talked and we thought if he was sick, he should have stayed home. He could have at least removed the mike when he was coughing.
The tour itself was wonderful!

Nice tour - interesting tidbits along the way. I think the Explorer's Tour is worth the extra. You get to venture where the ropes are. You do some bending and ducking as you enter the various door entry areas on the ship. I think you get more out of the ship tour with the guide than just visiting without a tour guide.
ps - I selected good for families but that is also a judgment call depending on how mindful the children are in dealing with tight quarters and time-constraints to visit various areas of the ship.

I was impressed by the audio visuals used and the visuals used for USS Arizona tour and the Home of Brave portion of the tour.
The tour guide gave us some highlights of the USS Arizona attack as we waited in line for the Memorial to open.
Everything worked well: the extra tidbits, pictures in the van/shuttle, audio visuals; and the stops we made were interesting that also related with the audio visuals.
At the end of the tour, we stopped at a little museum and we were presented with a free post card that showed the areas that we had visited.
Oh - the meal on base that was all you can eat (not included in the price) but very good and less than $10. Great tour - it was a great way to start the vacation off in spite of the rain we experienced in the morning as we waited for the Memorial to open. I now have a $2 poncho that I purchased outside the Memorial and never had to use for the 12 days of my Hawaii stay. It's more of a conversation piece now :)

The explorer's tour is worth the extra money. Instead of just wandering around on a few decks you get a personally guided tour of about 4 secluded decks including one of the BIG 16 inch gun turrets. Very interesting to see how a battleship works.

After all, this tour is primarily based around a trip to a cemetary. There really isn't that much to see of the Arizona itself, just some shadows underwater really. As I mentioned though, this is a little different to your average tourism spot, no "ooooh's and ahhhh's for the spectacular at the Arizona Monument.
The battleship Missouri is quite impressive though, the tour around the boat itself is quite interesting and is very much worth a look.
The city and punchbowl tour really isn't much at all. You basically drive in and out through the city, that's the tour pretty much. The Punchbowl Cemetary is a three minute detour and probably really isn't woth the bother for what you see there.

I just want to say this was one of the most enjoyable, educational tours we've taken. 'Mr. Bill' our guide was very informative and had a sense of humor. I would recommend the full Explorer tour to everyone, you learn so much. As my father was on the USS Colorado for twenty years and I always wanted to know what life was really like during the war on one of these beautiful ships. It is really hard to imagine what our boys went through during WWII and have great admiration for all those that served.

From waterfalls to rainforests to incredible lava rock fields this tour offered everything imaginable on the Big Island of Hawaii. The tour guide could have given us some down time from the non-stop chatting but he gave a lot of very informative information and was highly knowledgeable. enjoyed our explorer tour of the missiouri - tour guide Dom was amazing! Her inside knowledge was incredible! We were a little confused as to the inclusion or not of the general audio tour as well, as there was alot of things not covered on the explorers tour. Also were not aware of the proximity of the bowfin, museums... and did not have enough time to do all we would have liked at Pearl Harbour. Also, transportation would've been nice as the bus made us late for our tour even though we allowed 1 and 1/2 hours.

My father fought in WWII in Italy, my brother was stationed off the coast of Vietnam for two tours, and my son is now serving in Iraq. To say the least the tour of the USS Missouri and the viewing of Pearl Harbor was emotional...just thinking about all who fought for our freedom and all who gave their life. Thank you for preserving history.
