The wife and I enjoyed this tour immensely. We had always been doing the Waikiki stuff on vacation in Hawaii before now, but this time we decided to see what was on the Eastside of the island.

The explanation before horseback riding was just a simple Japanese video, so I was honestly quite anxious, but once I got on the horse, all my worries disappeared.
I understood that I needed to follow the horse in front of me, so when the horse in front stopped, I stopped too. When it moved, I moved. All the horses were very smart and didn’t stray off course at all. They are really clever!
This time, in addition to the four of us, there were two Westerners participating individually, making a total of six people plus one guide for the two-hour course.
The guide only knew simple Japanese necessary for horseback riding, like “kick with both feet” and “pull,” so all the explanations about the movie filming along the way were in English. I thought that maybe Japanese people tend to sign up for half-day courses, as there were not many participants in the two-hour course.

The scenery was absolutely amazing, and the two hours flew by! Many movies, including "Lost," "Jurassic Park," and "Godzilla," were filmed here, and we also passed the filming location for the remake of "Journey to the Center of the Earth," which is scheduled for release in 2012.

最後、ほかのグループとすれ違いましたが、20名ぐらい？の大人数でほぼ日本人のようでした。こちらは日本人ガイドさんがいらっしゃいました。説明を日本語で聞きたいのならこちらのコースがいいのかもしれません。

This was by far the best activity that we booked on Oahu. The scenery was gorgeous and the horses were well behaved. The two guides were very knowledgeable about the ranch and you run into some interesting leftover movie/TV sets throughout the valley that make for some great pictures!

However, since there was no transportation provided, it was quite challenging to get there from Waikiki on my own. I took the bus from Ala Moana, which took quite a bit of time, and since there are not many buses, I ended up spending a lot of time on travel before and after. It felt wasteful. Especially on the way back, the bus did not pass by at the scheduled time, and I had to wait nearly an hour for the next bus after the previous one had just left. It was getting quite dark, and I became anxious about whether I would make it back to Waikiki safely. I wish there were an option to request transportation for those who do not rent a car, even if it is at a higher price. I would like to go horseback riding again if the opportunity arises, and I would be happy if a transportation-inclusive plan is available by then.

I loved this activity!!!! The ATV's were sooo cool!!! It took me a little to get a hold of it, so me and my bf went on a separate group. It was just the three of us, including my instructor Jacob. Jacob was great, very informative and he even let us do some cool turns. The views are to die for, specially the china-man's hat. We saw where 50 First Dates was filmed, and stood inside Godzilla's paw!!! This is nothing like driving a car, it is much cooler. This is definitely something I would do everywhere I go. Do the 2 hour ATV, gives you enough time, because once it's over you are going to wish there were 4 hour ATV's!!

However, the stunning scenery and the refreshing experience of horseback riding without the mandatory helmets that you are often forced to wear in Japan is remarkable. The staff made a great effort to communicate, and I learned about the kukui nut tree, which is used for making leis, as we progressed through the ranch. Naturally, we encountered groups of cows along the way, which was fun. By the end of the 2 hours, my backside was in so much pain (I suffered from the pain for several days). Next time, when I go with friends, I plan to join the 2-hour course again.

My husband and I are first time visitors to Hawaii and wanted to see some of the beautiful sights but also wanted something laid back. This was the perfect thing to do. Coming from Waikiki Beach we ended up renting a convertible for the day and it was a beautiful drive up the coast. We got there a little early and found several treasures in the gift shop. There were riders with a varied range of experience in our group (including a first timer or two) and a great time was had by all. We opted for the 2 hour tour and definitely recommend it. The back side of the mountain was a little more challenging but still quite safe and great fun. The views were fabulous and there were several photo opportunities including some of the tv/movie locations, our guides even picked some guava from the trees which was a lovely treat. Make sure you heed their warning about wearing long pants as there is quite a bit of heat coming out of the ATV around your legs after a while and closed-toed shoes a

This was my absolute favorite activity that I did in Hawaii. My husband and I were there for two weeks and did a lot and the ATV tour was by FAR our favorite.
The views from valley were unlike anything I had ever seen. If your looking for something to take your breath away Kualoa Ranch is where it's at. While there it was raining, which made it more fun. On that side of the island it rains a bit so be prepared for it. I believe they have ponchos there if you want them. But my hubby and I didn't and we got soaked which was fine by us.
Driving around in the ATVs was exciting. It was my hubby's first time riding one and he had a little trouble. But the instructors were friendly and took him under their wing a bit. After the two hours of amazing views and seeing all the wildlife they took us too a little field and let just drive around which was a lot of fun.
I will do this again on my next trip for sure.
My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour! Coming from the Midwest, I have rode an ATV before but my boyfriend had done very little riding. You definitely do not need any prior experience in ATV riding to do this tour. We had a great guide whom was very informative and spectacular views with a little dirt and mud along the way. Don't wear your nicest clothes and definitely wear jeans and closed toed shoes as you will get dirty! This tour is definitely worth the money!
