North Shore
I participated at my boyfriend's request. As someone with a fear of heights, I reluctantly agreed to join.
After participating, I honestly felt that it wasn't as scary as I expected. The diver who jumped with us mentioned that he jumps about ten times a day, which made me think that the chances of dying from this are almost none.
According to my boyfriend, the actual time spent in freefall is about five minutes. The freefall lasts for about one to two minutes before the parachute opens, and then you glide for about three minutes. During the freefall, I was so focused on breathing and looking at the camera (since I had ordered photos and a DVD) that I was a bit frantic. Once the parachute opened, the view was incredibly beautiful, and I was moved by it. It felt like I was watching a scene from a TV show. After landing, I was really tired (laughs), but my boyfriend said it was so much fun that he wanted to jump again.
Considering the prices for photos and DVDs in Japan and other countries, I think it’s worth ordering them since they are quite cheap. We’ve been enjoying watching them together since returning home. Also, it gets quite cold up there, so I recommend wearing long sleeves.
On July 29, I participated in a North Shore (Haleiwa) tour. We gathered at the hotel lobby at 8:10 and set off to the North Shore together! The transportation (tour) was a shared style with people from other groups, primarily using a van. The tour guide provided commentary on the highlights throughout the journey. First, we visited "Moanalua Gardens" and "Dole Plantation," and then we arrived in "Haleiwa." At 10:15, we were taken to Turtle Beach, where we were lucky enough to encounter a "sea turtle" at Laniakea Beach. After that, we returned to the charming town of Haleiwa, which has an old Hawaiian atmosphere, and enjoyed about three hours of free time. I was satisfied with indulging in B-grade gourmet food like "Huli Huli Chicken, Garlic Shrimp, and Shave Ice." Along the way, we also enjoyed shopping at Surf and Sea (the shops were having a sale with 50% off, which was a great deal). We gathered at the shopping center at 14:15 and were taken back to the hotel. We arrived at the hotel at 15:15 and disbanded.
This is the second year in a row that we attended the Polynesian Cultural Center and the Alii Luau. The show is great and the food is probably the best we have had at a Luau. This is probably because the focus is on doing everything possible so that the guest is entertained with a wonderful show and feed all the delicious food you want to eat instead of trying to get you to spend your money on alcohol and then getting you to act foolish like they do at many of the other luaus on Oahu.
I have visited Hawaii many times, but this was my first time in the North. I wanted to experience all the representative parts of the North Tour, and I also wanted some free time at a famous beach, so I decided to join this tour. It turned out to be a very memorable and enjoyable tour with more activities than I expected. The tour guide was very kind and even dropped us off right in front of our hotel, which was really helpful. The guide's stories were interesting and entertaining, and they were all things you wouldn't hear unless you participated in the tour, making it a fulfilling experience. I'm glad I was able to join. I would like to look for another tour here next time as well. I want to thank the tour guide from Saturday, July 28th.
We participated in this as our honeymoon trip. I had seen it before and thought it was really good, so I wanted to see it again, but my wife wasn't very enthusiastic. However, once the show started, we were both completely captivated and ended up in tears of emotion. I'm really glad we went.
We attended it on the first day of our arrival in Hawaii, and I think we managed our time well. The meal before the show was also delicious and satisfying. Next time, I would like to spend a whole day experiencing the entire center.
Overall, the show and activities were really good. However, we feel that there could have been some improvements in other areas.
First, the people who paid extra to sit next to the stage had to climb a great many steps which had no hand rails, to reach the food, drinks and to use the restrooms. There should be an area for the food and drinks to be closer for those people seated near the stage who paid more money for their tickets.
Secondly, after the first time that the our server came to help me with our order, she returned to see if we needed more food, but did not return after that to see if we wanted any dessert or coffee. The dessert and coffee were on another section of the upper level.
Third, since I was in a wheelchair, when the show started, I was wheeled in through the back of the stage to my seat. My wife was told that she could not come with me or exit the way I came in, causing a big problem at the end of the show. She was told to go to the customer relations des
We made this a family affair. My two kids, 16 & 6 enjoyed the sharks. The water was rough and it was very hard to hold onto the cage. I had to hold my 6yr old, he was not strong enough to hold on himself and the waves knocked him around. That said he loved it. My 16 yr old had no problems and tooks some great pics with the underwater camera. The sharks came right up to the cage and they looked them eye to eye. I tend to get sea sick so I wore a sea sick patch, which unfortuntly was not enough. The worst part was sitting in the boat while the other group was in the cage. Everyone agreed that they would do it again, but compared to some of the other tours we did, this one seemed a little pricy. We were only out for about 1.5 hours with about 15 - 20 minutes in the cage, which was just right but per minute - expensive!
I participated in a dinner and show tour. The show had a storyline, and although I couldn't fully understand the mix of English and the local language, I was able to grasp the overall context. Additionally, there was a pamphlet with an explanation of the story (in Japanese), which I read beforehand, so I had no trouble following the storyline at all.
The fire dance was spectacular. The power of multiple dancers performing with fire across the entire stage was thrilling.
The sea was angry that day, but the crazy eight crew pulled through! I have always wanted to swim with sharks and am so glad we were able to fit this in during wedding week. Despite the windy rough weather, the crew felt comfortable going forward with the adventure after deeming the conditions safe enough. They were very professional and provided great customer service and were very open in providing information. The water and cage were the most comfortable place to be on our adventure and the sharks provided a great show. The view was spectacular and we all survived. I would definitely do this again and recommend this to anyone considering this activity. Thank you Hawaiiactivities and Jessica for helping us decide on this adventure. Great job by all!
My husband and I had a great time on our ride at Gunstock Ranch. Ross, our trail guide, was the best. I haven't been on a horse in years and it was my husband's first time riding. Ross matched us with great horses and took us on a great ride. We helped herd cows, went into the brush and up a mountain for views that were just amazing. This ride was truly one of the highlights of our most amazing trip to O'ahu. Thank you!
The skydiving was just amazing! I recommend it to everyone! The staff was really friendly and organized!
Took the family for the full day package. It was fun and interesting to see the different dances and learn about the different cultures. The food was really good and the show was excellent. Everyone should go at least once and you may need to go back to see what you missed the first time.
It was great to have a bus transfer to the hotel. The location felt quite far (over an hour). Upon arrival, we picked up our tickets and had dinner right away (the restaurant opens at 5 PM). However, there was a long line, and we waited over 30 minutes to get in. The deluxe section didn't seem to have such a long wait. The food was diverse and satisfying.
We had free time until the show started, and since we didn't have much time, we took a few photos around the area before it was time to go. Our seats were upgraded on the bus, and we ended up sitting quite close to the front. Since it was our arrival day in Hawaii, I was feeling sleepy... I hardly remember the first half of the show.
During the break, I noticed some people getting up and rushing down the stairs, and it turned out they were going for ice cream. When I asked the person next to me how much it was, they told me that deluxe guests received a voucher with their ticket. However, since we only had our seats upgraded on the bus, we didn’t have one. Just as I was giving up, the person next to me offered to share their ice cream with us.
Since we had eaten a lot for dinner, one ice cream was just the right size for the two of us (if anything, it was a bit too much), but since it was a kind offer, we enjoyed it. Thanks to the ice cream, I woke up and was able to pay attention during the second half. The show was in English, so I couldn't grasp everything, but I understood the gist of it.
The venue was large, so I felt it would have been more impactful to see it up close. I fell asleep on the bus ride back, and before I knew it, we had arrived at the hotel. There seem to be many areas to explore, so I think it would be better to come during the day (we had too many other activities planned, so we only had the arrival day available, but we still wanted to do this plan).
My wife & I were first timers visiting during a conference. We located this tour on-line and took a gamble sight unseen. This was one of the best parts of our vacation. Our guide, Chris, was very personable and provided tons of information about the North Shore and the agriculture. He took several pictures for us and was very accommodating. Five stars for Chris. We would recommend this for anyone. The scenery is breathtaking. We recommend the sunset ride and request Chris for your guide!
I experienced horseback riding at Kualoa Ranch twice before, but this time I wanted to see a different view, so I tried the sunset horseback riding at this ranch. It was a small, privately-owned place, which made it easy to talk to the staff. The female guide spoke only English, but she was very kind, and the horses were well-trained, allowing us to enjoy the experience with peace of mind. There were also privately owned horses at the ranch, and one of the horses we encountered while riding was quite mischievous and fell right in front of us, leaving us in shock. Our guide, who also had a nursing qualification, provided emergency assistance and called an ambulance, while we waited anxiously. I realized that dealing with wild animals comes with such risks.
According to our guide, if the horse's personality doesn't match the rider's skill level, accidents can happen more easily. However, the horses at this ranch were well-behaved and properly trained, so we were able to enjoy the ride without worry until the end. We took in the magnificent scenery and sunset, treating the incident as a lesson, and it turned out to be a fun hour and a half of horseback riding.
Excellent adventure for the family! Crew was very nice and made every effort to ensure we had a good time with a focus on safety since the water was a bit rough. We saw lots of large sharks, definitely a good time.
On the left side, just past the Polynesian Cultural Center, there is a sprawling ranch. It feels more like Arizona than Hawaii, with mostly white people around. There happened to be families with small children gathered there since school was out, but most were just doing short horseback riding experiences. We set off under the guidance of Amanda, who moved here from New York about a year and a half ago. The exhilaration of galloping through the hills and forests is something hard to experience in Japan. I quit the Crane Riding Club out of frustration and have been riding at the Aso Dream Land Club for about three years, but that place has a lot of hills. Here, the flat terrain makes for the best galloping. Our 30-minute private lunch included a gigantic sandwich, juice, water, a mountain of fruit, and a box of macadamia chocolates, which was way too much to finish. I took the chocolates as a souvenir. I was a bit worried about not speaking English. If you're a beginner, they won't let you ride on a course that includes galloping. It's self-reported, but you'll need to sign a waiver, so you're responsible in case of an accident.
It was good.
良かった
I've always wanted to experience this at least once! Even though I'm over 50 years old... This time, the opportunity came, and I took on the challenge. I'm truly overwhelmed with emotion!
Here's my experience. First, when I arrived at the center, I had to sign multiple "waivers." The content stated, "There will be no compensation for any accidents." In short, it's all on you, no matter what happens. It took some courage to sign this.
Finally, it was my turn to board the Cessna. The experienced instructor helped ease my nerves. The Cessna took off and climbed higher and higher. We were truly above the clouds.
Once we reached the altitude for the drop, the atmosphere in the cabin became tense. I tightened my harness and waited for "that moment." The cabin door opened, and it was finally time to drop!!!
When it was my turn, looking down, I saw the clouds below... Here we go! Falling!!! It's an experience that words can't express. Without a doubt, I was flying through the air.
As the large parachute opened, the speed dropped suddenly, allowing me to take in the view below. The endless blue sea spread out beneath me. It was also breathtaking!
When I safely returned, I felt a great sense of accomplishment. For those who are hesitant, I highly recommend it!
Lastly, I recommend getting the photos and DVD. They are a bit pricey, but they are definitely worth it. When you sign up at the center, each person gets their own dedicated cameraman.
That's my experience!
Considering this is my 2nd submission I will repeat it because it was so fun! I talked my brother into doing this activity with me so when he agreed I was excited. First of all the capt and crew were super cool!! I am a straight out Claustrophobe and was nervous about the snorkel and mask having never used them but after I gained my bearings it was awesome to see we were surrounded by one of earth's most feared predators. There really was nothing to fear but I had been secretly hoping for a Great White drive by but accepted the sharks we were surrounded by. It was phenomonal to be in their domain as spectators. Overall it was a very cool activity that I would definitely recommend to all, minus the fact that after being the first cage down the remaining time was left with me hanging my head over the railing and counting the minutes until our return to shore. What good is dramamine I ask?
Thanks again for the ride.
Burberry led the way, while Mac and the dog provided support from behind.
We had quite a long horseback riding session and enjoyed a leisurely stroll through the forest.

I had the opportunity to experience skydiving with my wife during our trip to Hawaii, which is something we wouldn't normally do. After about an hour's bus ride from our hotel in Waikiki, we arrived at the center next to the airport.
We were shown a video with poorly spoken Japanese and had to sign a waiver. The waiver was even harder to understand than the video. I understand it was a direct translation, but it was stressful to read and made me a bit anxious.
There was a weight requirement, and since I had been indulging a lot in the past few days, I went to the reception to get weighed. However, none of the staff spoke Japanese. I was surprised that they couldn't understand me, so I had to explain in broken English and was taken to the scale. The scale displayed pounds, which I had never seen before. I was then charged an additional $20 to accommodate my weight, which made me resolve to lose some weight.
After waiting for an hour, I was finally called, fitted with the gear, and received a brief training before boarding the plane. The foreign instructor looked intimidating but kept repeating "exciting" in Japanese, which helped ease the tension.
Before I knew it, we reached an altitude of 14,000 feet. Everyone jumped out one after another, and before I could gather my courage, I was in the air! The wind was intense, but it felt like I was floating rather than falling. Since the ground wasn't getting closer, I couldn't really tell what was happening.
We fell for quite a while before the parachute opened. It felt like it happened so quickly that I finally had time to look around and take in the view. The gear was a bit uncomfortable, but I felt exhilarated. I appreciated the instructor's enthusiasm as he swung us around until we landed.
It was quite a hot day, but it gets pretty cold during the dive, so I recommend wearing long sleeves. It was even chilly during the fall. Finally, I dropped a $20 tip into the box before heading back to Honolulu.
In the end, I spent a decent amount of money, but I think it was much cheaper than doing it in Japan. If you're going to Hawaii, I definitely recommend giving it a try!
Actually, I didn't have high expectations at first, but I'm really glad I went!!
The purpose is to protect the culture, so they primarily have shows featuring students from various regions. I was really surprised, but it was quite authentic.
Rather than going to see glamorous shows like hula, it has a stronger focus on feeling and understanding the culture, so some people might find it boring, but I think it's something everyone should see at least once.
Experiencing unique foods, feeling the traditions of the various Polynesian islands, being moved by the shows, and being overwhelmed by the energy of the students... I truly felt it was worth participating.
If you have the time, I definitely recommend checking it out!
I went tandem skydiving for the first time this time. After some hesitation, I decided to challenge myself from 14,000 feet!
The divers, photographers, and all the staff were cheerful and funny! After a brief lecture, we set off immediately. Before I could even feel scared (in about 15 minutes), we arrived at the drop zone and dove into the beautiful sky of the North Shore without any time to hesitate!!
I experienced a view and excitement like I had never seen before all at once☆ It really gets your adrenaline pumping!
If you are prone to motion sickness, taking anti-nausea medication is a must. (It shakes a lot during the parachute descent.)
During our second trip to Hawaii, my husband and I participated in the "GO! Native Luau," which was recommended on alan1.net. It's great that you can easily and enjoyably experience the real Hawaii (Polynesia). Many people, including myself, might think that hula dancing is all the same, but hula varies from island to island in Polynesia, and they guide you to understand these differences well. Some people prefer hula shows held at hotels, but by coming here, you can immerse yourself in Hawaiian culture and lifestyle, try various local dishes, and even paddle a canoe. It's wonderful that the course fee includes meals and offers a variety of free experiences. Although we didn't know much about Hawaii, visiting this place allowed us to feel a deeper connection to Hawaiian culture than we expected. In particular, the "HA: Breath of Life Show" that we saw at the end captivated both of us with its story (be sure to read the simple program written in the pamphlet before the show). I definitely think this is a course you should visit first.
First time on surf bus, me(45), niece(25), son(9), daughter(4). Only paid for 1 activity each because we didnt know the time schedule or what would work best. Pick up 8:15am. Nice tour of different beaches at north shore. Finally arrived at 1st activity spot at 10:30 me/daughter went to waimea beach, niece/son waimea falls and walked to us. Others did snorkeling. Picked up at 1pm. Next stop haleiwa where we got 1 paddle board and 1 double kayak. Son loved padded boarding by himself! We switched off and met back at 3. Others walked through town and ate. We did great with just one activity eac (2 waimea waterfall entrance, 1 paddle board, 1 kayak). Others did th snorkel then th paddle board the 2nd half. The falls walk was hot and long but my son still enjoyed. Beach was nice for me and my 4 year old to float in the calmer waves. Definitely enjoyed our trip! Nice ending was a couple days later I realized I had left my daughter's life jacket (brought a good one for my entir vaca
I took my Granddaughter and we both had a great time. She loved the show at the end, but did not like the luau.
I HIGHLY recommend this tour to all!!!
I took this tour with my family about a year ago, and my brother and I told ourselves we must come back with our friends to enjoy it again!
Our tour guide, Mr. (Insert Several Incredibly Long Names Here) Polamalu was incredible! Personable, hilarious, engaging, knowledgeable...pure awesome-ness!! He made the tour so much fun, and on behalf of my group I'd like to say "MAHALO" to him for his service! Side Note: During the Circle Island Tour, I recommend everyone try Dole Whip Ice Cream at the Dole Plantation stop. It is truly some of the best ice cream I've ever had.
The second leg of our tour included an activity-filled rollick through the Polynesian Culture Center! The Center is so clean, everyone is so accommodating and nice, and the activities were very enjoyable! I loved watching the coconut slicing and juicing presentation! Not much of a tour. Driver OK - very little information given during ride, made a few recommendations. Driver dropped everyone off then went surfing for both the morning and afternoon sessions.
Other folks in group disappointed in the amount of walking, lack of bike helmets and places where the road had no bike trail.
We had an amazing time!!!! The crew were friendly and fun, saw so many sharks!!! Would recommend to anyone.
The only downfall was we paid $60 for a DVD of us swimming with the sharks, however when we went to watch it, it did not work!! : ( We tried to contact the crew but have had no reply.
