We participated as a couple. On the day we joined, there were a total of 11 people in 5 groups. The driver entertained us with various stories until we reached the North Shore. We stopped by the Dole Plantation, which had many original products, and we had a great time even without shopping.

日曜日ということもあり、フリフリチキンの屋台が出ていたので、私たちはそちらでランチにしました。
近くには有名なかき氷屋さんもあり乗馬へ行くまでも存分に楽しむことができました。
乗馬する牧場(～!)へ着くと、英語のみの説明になり、戸惑いましたが、牧場のお母さんが英語ながら一生懸命説明してくれたので、終始楽しく乗馬できました。
日本の牧場と違い９０分も乗馬できるので、非常に満足できます。
再来年のハワイ旅行でも是非参加したいと思いますが、昼食代などが含まれていないので、ツアー代金が８０~１００ドルほどになると良いなと思いました。

If you want to go horseback riding but don't want to do it at Kualoa and would like to do some sightseeing as well, I think this is a great option.

There were six participants, two people in three groups.

After being picked up before 9 AM, we were taken by our guide Wayne to Moanalua (the tree, what kind of tree is this?) → Dole → Haleiwa (for lunch) → North Shore (to see turtles) → horseback riding → and then back home.

It seemed that all the participants this time were repeat visitors who had already experienced the classic Oahu sightseeing course before horseback riding, so I thought it would be nice if we could arrange stops based on the participants' preferences.

The horseback riding was fantastic. Unlike Kualoa, where you ride in large groups for about 30 minutes, this time there were only eight of us: four Japanese, one from the West, and three from Southeast Asia, allowing us to take our time and climb the mountain over 90 minutes. It didn't feel at all like the experience of being "just put on a horse and walked" as it does at large facilities.

For some reason, the horse I rode had a habit of walking along the right edge of the mountain path, constantly bumping into trees and leaves.

It seems that the operation is run by a man and a woman who appear to be the owners, so there might be some horses that haven't been trained well. That was interesting in its own way. My wife was laughing the whole time watching me bump into the trees!

朝９時前のピックアップ後、ガイドのウェインさんに連れられてモアナルア（この木何の木）→ドール→ハレイワ（昼食）→ノース（亀）→乗馬→帰路という行程をこなします。

今回の参加メンバーは皆リピーターで乗馬前のオアフ観光鉄板コースは既に体験済みのようだったので、参加者の度合いに応じて寄るところをアレンジ出来ればいいなと思いました。

乗馬は最高でした。クアロアのように大人数で３０分程度というわけではなくて、今回は日本人４人、欧米系１人、東南アジア系３人＝８人というこじんまりとした人数でゆっくり９０分掛けて山を登ります。大規模施設での乗馬のように「乗せられて、ただ歩いた」って感じはまったくありません。

私の乗った馬はなぜか山道の右端ばかりを歩く（癖）ので木にや葉っぱに当たりっぱなしでした。

オーナーと思わしき男性と女性の２名で切り盛りしているようですので、中には調教がうまくいっていない馬もいるのでしょう。
それはそれで、おもしろかったです。ちょいちょい木に当たる自分を見て妻は終始大爆笑でした！

Since my horseback riding experience at a ranch in Hokkaido, I had been thinking, "I want to ride a horse again!!" When I found this activity, I immediately signed up. There were other horseback riding tours available, but I chose this one because it offered a Japanese-speaking guide.

In the morning, I was picked up from my hotel and we headed to Dole Plantation and the North Shore, stopping at each participant's hotel. Along the way, our guide Wayne shared various stories in fluent Japanese, making the car ride enjoyable and never boring.

At Dole Plantation, our time was short, so I couldn't try the popular pineapple soft serve, but I was happy to visit since I had wanted to go there. Taking photos with the train in the background before departure also became a nice memory. By the way, the restrooms at Dole Plantation are spacious and clean, so I recommend using them.

Shortly after leaving Dole Plantation, the beautiful sea of the North Shore came into view, and I felt a rush of excitement. Our guide kindly parked the car in front of the famous North Shore sign, allowing us to take commemorative photos.

We had an early lunch in the town of North Shore. Since we participated on a Sunday, we had lunch at a stand selling "Huli Huli Chicken." There were also famous shrimp places in North Shore, but I had heard that "Huli Huli Chicken" could only be tasted at the weekend market, so I decided without hesitation. ドールプランテーションでは滞在時間が短いので、人気のパイナップルのソフトクリームを食することができませんでしたが、一度訪れてみたいと思っていましたので、嬉しかったです。
発車前の汽車をバックに写真撮影できたことも良い思い出になりました。
余談ですが、ドールプランテーションのお手洗いは広くてきれいなので、こちらでお手洗いを済ませることをお勧めします。

ドールプランテーションを出発してしばらすると眼前にノースショアの美しい海が目に入り、何だか興奮してしまいました。
有名なノースショアの看板の前で、わざわざ駐車して下さるので、こちらでも記念撮影できます。

ノースショアの街で早めの昼食タイムがあります。
私たちは日曜日の参加でしたので、「フリフリチキン」の屋台（？）で昼食を取りました。
ノースショアで有名なシュリンプのお店もありましたが、「フリフリチキン」は土日のマーケットでしか味わえないと聞いていたので、迷わず決めました。
「辛いのかなぁ」とドキドキしていたら、程よいスパイシーさで美味しかったです。
お店の人がスターフルーツのお漬物（？）みたいなのを配って下さり、そちらも美味しかったです。

昼食が終わると、いよいよ乗馬になります。
渓谷乗馬チームが先に山の牧場へ送っていただきました。
ここで日本語が堪能なウェインさんとはお別れです（泣）。

山の牧場では、日本語の説明は全くなく、ＡＬＬ英語で聞き取るのに必死で、最初は泣きそうになりましたが、スタッフのおばさんが身振り手振りで一生懸命説明してくれたので、英語が分からない不安さは次第に消えて行きました。

私の乗った馬は、非常に自由気ままな馬で、のどが渇いたりすると勝手に水桶へ向かってしまったりと「手ごわそう」な雰囲気だ

This was my second time in Hawaii. I had visited the North Shore before and loved the scenery and the town, so I wanted to go back. At Turtle Beach, we met turtles for the first time, which we hadn't encountered during our last visit! In Haleiwa, we strolled for about an hour, including lunch, and we filled up on giant hamburgers at Kua Aina!

In the horseback riding group, there was a foreign family along with us, making a total of six people. My husband was trying horseback riding for the first time, and I hadn't ridden in a few years, so I felt a bit nervous seeing the size of the horses. However, they carefully explained the instructions, and they matched the horses to the participants' sizes—smaller horses for children and women, and larger ones for men.

We rode in a line through the mountains, with the lead instructor checking on everyone as we progressed slowly. 6人で列を成して山の中を歩く、といった感じで先頭のインストラクターの方が参加者の様子を確認しつつゆっくり進んでいくのですが、馬はしっかり調教されていて特に指示をしなくてもちゃんと前の馬についていってくれるので、何の心配もありませんでした。
コースは起伏があってそれがまた楽しかったです。
山の上からはノースショアの海が一望できて、景色は最高！
撮影ポイントではインストラクターの方が写真を撮ってくれました。
乗馬時間は長く感じるくらい十分楽しめました。
大人から子供まで楽しめると思います！

まずはモアナルアガーデンに少し立寄り写真撮影。続くドール・プランテーションでは３０分程の自由行動があり、パイナップルソフトクリームを食べたり、お庭を散策したり。その後、ハレイワへ向かいます。道中はコーヒー畑が広がっていたりして気持ちの良いドライブでした。時間にして１時間半くらいですが移動が長いという感じはしませんでした。
10時半くらいにハレイワに到着。その後昼食を含め１時間程の自由時間となります。ハレイワには有名なガーリックシュリンプのお店があるらしく他のツアー参加者の皆さんはそちらで昼食を取ったようです。昼食時間が相当早いので“ここで食べる！”と決めている方は当日の朝食は軽めが良いと思います。私たちはハレイワショッピングセンターで下ろしてもらいブラブラと散策。近くにあった屋台で“フリフリチキン”なるものを食べました。毎週土曜日だけ出店されるこの屋台は結構有名らしく日本人の観光客も多くいました。丸ごと焼いたチキンは熱々でしっかり味がついていて、見た目はさほどでもありません（笑）がおすすめです。
渓谷の乗馬は、起伏があり楽しいコースでしたが、景色はほとんど森林の中と言った感じでした。乗馬経験者には、少し物足りないコースかもしれません。ただ、馬の乗り方や注意点は丁寧に教えてもらえるので初心者でも全く問題ありません。乗馬の後は、ウミガメビーチに寄りましたが、道路からビーチが見下ろせるためウミガメがいないと分かるとビーチに降りることもなくそのまま帰路につきました。
半日でノースショア観光+乗馬だったのですこし駆け足でしたが、期待通り楽しむことができました。

It was a hot day with strong Hawaiian sunshine, but the horseback riding in the valley was quiet and shaded by trees, making it pleasant. We could also see the ocean along the way, which was beautiful.

They take photos for you, and if you have time, you can also take your own photos and videos. You can either hang your belongings on the horse or leave them with them. They also lend you a waist pouch for valuables and cameras.

初めに馬の乗り方や綱の使い方を簡単な日本語をまじえて説明してくれますので英語がわからなくても問題ないと思います。
馬はみんな落ち着いていて、おとなしいです。本当に頭のいい馬達で安心して乗馬を楽しむことができました。ゆっくり歩いてくれますし、前の馬が止まればきちんと止まって、抜かしたりしません。オーナーと娘さん？が先頭と後ろについてきてくれますので安心でした。途中一度だけ駆け足になりましたがちょっとしたスリリングがあり楽しかったです！！
ハワイの日差しはきつく暑い日でしたが、渓谷の乗馬は静かで木の影があるので気持ちよかったです。途中で海も見えてきれいでした。
写真も撮ってくれますし、余裕があれば自分でも写真やビデオをとることができます。
荷物は馬に掛けて持っていくか、預けることができます。
貴重品やカメラを入れるウエストポーチも貸してくれます。
９０分の乗馬とのことでしたが、実際馬に乗っていたのは１時間程でしたので少し残念でした。
今回は送迎付きで、ドールパイナップル、ガーリックシュリンプ、海亀のビーチ、ハレイワタウン、モアナルアガーデンにも立ち寄れたので満足でした。ただ、ハレイワタウンの時間が短かったのでもう少し長いとうれしかったです。
送迎の運転手さんはノースシェアまでの道でオバマ大統領の産まれた病院や米軍の基地等教えてくれ、車窓からの景色も楽しめました。
送迎がなかったら簡単に行けるところではないので送迎があるといいと思います。
あとは料金がもっと安いと最高だと思います！！

However, after discussing our riding experience with our young and cute guide Stephanie, who had a wonderful smile, we were allowed to canter in a safe area. TAKA had just ridden 15 kilometers along the coastline at Frontier Riding Club in Hokkaido last fall. However, for MAMI, who was on her first outdoor ride, it started with a trot, but by the second and third times, she was able to do a more dynamic canter, which was a thrilling experience compared to the small arena.

The group that rode before us consisted of a mix of three and two people, and it seemed they were trekking at a beginner's pace. They likely make efforts to accommodate as many requests as possible for the riding tour based on group composition and negotiations. I am especially grateful to Stephanie, our guide this time!

On Christmas Day, the only place where horseback riding was available was Gunstock Ranch. Although the prices were elevated for the holiday, considering the Christian culture, it was quite appreciated.

There was no shuttle service from the hotel, so we rented a car with a navigation system and challenged ourselves to drive on the right side for the first time. The navigation guided us to our destination without any issues when we entered the address, and by being mindful of the central lane always being on the left, we found that driving wasn't too different from Japan. (I felt it was convenient to have the postal code handy since the navigation I used didn't have a search function by phone number, etc.)

Now, regarding the horseback riding, besides our family of four, there were also four family members from California and two couples participating.

The owner of Gunstock Ranch led the way, with his wife at the midpoint and his daughter (around elementary school age) bringing up the rear as we set off.

It was the first time for my husband, daughter, and son to ride horses, but there were no issues at all. The very smart horses followed commands for right, left, and gallop, taking us along nicely.

While it's common to see guides leading horses in enclosed areas, riding through the great outdoors while enjoying the scenery was truly delightful.

ガンストック牧場のご主人が先導し、中間地点に奥さん、そして一番後ろには、娘さん（小学校中学年ぐらい）が付いて出発です。

主人、娘、息子は馬に乗るのは初めてでしたが、何の問題もなく、とても賢い馬は、右・左・ギャロップなどの指示に従ってちゃんと私たちを乗せてくれました。

柵の中で、管理者が引き馬をしてくれるケースはよく見ますが、大自然の中、景色を楽しみながらのお散歩乗馬、とても気持ちが良かったです。

説明は全て英語ですが、十分に聞き取りは可能です。
楽しく参加することができました。

We are a couple over sixty, and this was our second time participating, following last year. We were able to extend the canter longer than last year, which made it even more enjoyable. Both instructors were kind and attentive. We definitely plan to participate again next time.

I participated this time with three children aged 7, 5, and 3. I searched for various options to let the kids try horseback riding, but most places required participants to be over 10 years old. However, I found one that offered "Keiki (children) horseback riding" and decided to join.

At first, I thought they would be riding small ponies, but in reality, they rode regular horses. The three of them had some experience with ponies, but this was their first time on regular horses.

Two staff members from the ranch accompanied us with three horses, holding the reins as we enjoyed horseback riding for over 30 minutes across the vast ranch.

We didn't just go around in circles; we also climbed up a hill to see other horses in the pasture and even spotted a newborn foal, making for a fun time.

The kids seemed to have a great time and expressed their desire to ride again.

I understand that regular horseback riding tours are for ages 7 and up, so I would like to participate in a tour again in a few years.

Although Japanese is not spoken, I think participating itself is not an issue.

I participated in the advanced course at Gunstock Ranch with my sister. If you're coming from Waikiki, I think it's easy to aim for the Polynesian Cultural Center as a landmark.

We were asked how much experience we had riding horses, and after doing some trotting in the circle, we set off. After walking along the mountain path, we suddenly broke into a canter through the woods. When the lead horse, Sara, started running, my horse quickly followed suit, and my sister's horse behind me joined in as well.

We ran quite a bit. It was my first time cantering in Western style, and I was a bit worried, but it turned out to be quite easy even with the long stirrups. It felt really good.

While observing the condition of the trail, we then trotted up and down the hills. At the top, Sara picked some guava fruit for us and took some pictures. The descent offered beautiful scenery, so we leisurely walked.

The weather was great, and it was a very fulfilling hour. If I have the chance, I would love to visit Gunstock Ranch again.

　道の状態を見ながら、後は速歩で坂道を上ったり下ったり。
　頂上では、サラがグアバの実を取ってくれて、写真も撮ってくれました。
　下りは景色がいいので、のんびり常歩です。
　お天気も良く、とても充実した1時間でした。また機会があれば、もう一度ガンストック牧場を訪れたいです。

We are a family that always goes horseback riding in Hawaii. So far, we have ridden in one place on Kauai, three places on Oahu, one place on Molokai, one place on Maui, and one place on the Big Island. This year, we were planning to go horseback riding on Lanai, but we learned that Gunstock Ranch started offering rides last year. Considering the time saved by not having to travel to another island, we quickly booked an afternoon ride online.

After passing through Kahuku from the North Shore, we spotted the sign on the right after about five minutes! We turned right and climbed a bit up the mountain, arriving at a ranch that was completely untouched by tourism. Immediately, friendly dogs and sheep came to greet us. We made our way past the horses that were grazing in the back and found the guides, all of whom were women. After chatting, we learned that they were Mrs. Smith, the ranch owner, her daughter, and a part-time worker from Colorado who came to study at a university in Hawaii.

Although they didn't speak any Japanese, it felt like visiting a neighbor's house for check-in, creating a very homey atmosphere. As we started riding, it felt as if we had chartered the entire experience just for our family. We passed through the rodeo practice area and the training area for the horses, navigating through trees that made us feel like we were in an orchard. While riding, we picked and ate guava, and after climbing for an hour, we reached a viewpoint overlooking the North Shore, Kahuku, and the northeastern sea. We took commemorative photos and videos with this beautiful scenery as our backdrop, watching the sunset behind the mountains as it illuminated the southern part of Kahuku while chatting with our guide on the way back down to the ranch center in 30 minutes.

I wouldn't recommend this for first-time overseas riders, but for those who are tired of touristy horseback riding and can speak a little English, I think this is the best place on Oahu. We were treated to a beautiful sunset that made us forget we were even on Oahu.

I did this with my 23 year old daughter and we both felt that this was an outstanding activity! The ride was great - some hills, windy trails, spectacular views, just the right length - 90 minutes. The staff was super - Darleena couldn't have been better - so knowledgeable, friendly and patient! The horses were very calm and perfect for this type of ride. We both agree that this is one of the best things we've done on Oahu. We've already recommended Gunstock Ranch to other family members that are planning to visit Hawaii. (I'll send photos later)

I booked the lunch ride for myself and Daughter in June of 2007. I have to commend the Gunstock Ranch, we had such a wonderful time with our 2 tour guides and saw the beautiful sights of Oahu from the bottom to the top. Were we found seashells on the very top of the mountain and mongoose along the path to get there. The Lunch and the company the tour forward will last us forever until we can get back again to do it all over, I would not hesitate to recommend this extremely enjoyable activity. If you ever need a recommendation please let me know.

Date of participation: March 19, 2007 (Monday). We participated as a couple. Gunstock Ranch is about an hour and a half by car from Waikiki, located beyond the Polynesian Cultural Center. The area is lush and green, quite different from the rocky terrain of the Big Island, making it suitable for horseback riding. We gathered at 8:30 in the morning. It was just the two of us participating. After the rain, the greenery and rainbow were beautiful. We signed some documents, learned the basics of horseback riding, and mounted our horses. We proceeded with three horses into the greenery. Along the way, the female guide asked, "RUN?" and when I answered "YES," we started to gallop. The horse I rode was well-trained and very responsive. Since it was a horse that wanted to run, I hardly had to kick it at all. We mostly galloped except for the climbs and descents to the hill and some slippery red dirt areas. The trees on both sides formed an arch, and we moved through it at a comfortable speed. The guide picked guava fruit for us, which was sour and delicious. When we reached the top of the hill, we had a 360-degree view. We could see the ocean as well. The wind felt nice, and the view was amazing. The hour flew by. It was a lot of fun.
