Pick up on time, lots of interesting information along the drive, friendly, professional and took care of safety. Explained everything well. We participated as a couple with our 9-year-old child. It was everyone's first time snorkeling, but thanks to Chieko, we were able to participate smoothly, both kids and adults. We swam across Hanauma Bay for about an hour, but I think it's better for slim people and children to rent wetsuits, as the body gets colder than expected. Also, for those who are prone to seasickness, it's reassuring to take motion sickness medication. We got to see beautiful tropical fish and even a turtle, which made for the best memories! I would love to participate again when we come back to Hawaii. Thank you very much! 😊

約1時間程ハナウマ湾を横断する感じで泳ぎますが、痩せ型の人や子供さんはウェットスーツを借りた方がよろしいかと思います。思ったより体が冷えてきますので。。それから、波に酔いやすい人は酔い止めを飲んだ方が安心です。

I signed up because a honu appeared in the image, but I couldn't actually encounter one. I ended up just splashing around in the shallow waters while snorkeling, which was a bit disappointing. However, the staff were very kind. I think this tour is suitable for snorkeling beginners.

I had a little experience with snorkeling before, but this was my first time with fins. The instructors, Chieko and Dan, taught me how to snorkel very well, so I understood it in my head. Hmm, in practice… It took me a little while to get used to turning around, how to clear the water from my mask, and how to move my fins, but I was encouraged by the fish that kept appearing underwater, and I was able to enjoy snorkeling thoroughly. This was my first time snorkeling in Hawaii. The weather was the best it had been during our stay, and since it was an afternoon tour, it wasn't cold at all—the timing was perfect! My wife, who can't swim, was able to glide through the water for an hour of snorkeling with the help of a life jacket and fins, thanks to Chieko's clear explanations and teaching style. We were amazed by the colorful small fish and schools of large parrotfish and ladyfish right in front of us. At one point, Dan called us over, and we saw a sea turtle up close. It was my first time seeing a sea turtle at such a reachable distance, and I was truly moved. I think this was the best snorkeling experience I've ever had. Although I couldn't take good pictures with my underwater camera, I was really glad to be able to download photos from Dan's Facebook. Thank you for a wonderful time that I could get lost in. Next time, I plan to join this tour again with my daughter and her husband and my grandchildren.

滞在中で一番良い天気だったことと、午後からのツアーだったので寒くもなく、タイミングはバッチリでした！

Last time I joined an outrigger tour, there were many turtles, and I was really impressed, so I expected something similar this time. However, the waves were a bit high at the location, and there were many children and non-swimmers in the same group, so we probably couldn't go out too far this time. The husband and wife team were insightful, helpful, and made sure everyone was safe. They even picked us us and gave us a mini tour of the island sites as we drove. I would definitely recommend to anyone including families with children. I participated with my father and son. All three of us were filled with anxiety as it was our first time snorkeling. In the end, we felt that we couldn't have done it without the guide! We didn't even know how to put on the wetsuits, and once we got into the water, we struggled to put on our fins due to the waves and ended up stumbling a lot. During those times, we received help multiple times. Especially my father, who is 70 years old, needed support in some areas. He also mentioned that he couldn't have done it without the guide! We were desperately trying to keep up with everyone, but the underwater scenery was more beautiful than we imagined, and it became the best memory of this trip! Thank you very much!

At 7 AM, we were picked up from the hotel and headed to Hanauma Bay, which has been selected as the No. 1 best beach. This shallow sea, formed from a collapsed volcanic crater, is teeming with fish. You can swim surprisingly close to them.

The reason for the early morning start is that the parking lot fills up quickly. Due to conservation efforts, the parking capacity is small, and once it reaches full capacity, the gates are closed. During this time before the summer vacation in Japan, there are fewer Japanese tourists, and many locals are present. Also, there are plenty of cats on the beach.

And guess what!! A large guest, a seal, was there. Previously, they could only be seen a few times a year, but now it seems they are visiting almost every day.

I swam with about 10 participants and 2 instructors. The sea was beautiful and clear, and just swimming felt really good. On that day, I was surprised to see a seal napping on the beach. I couldn't find a sea turtle right away, but I was glad to see one in the end. The sea turtles are cute, and even with people around, they swim gracefully, making it fun to swim alongside them. I probably wouldn't have been able to find them on my own. It's important to remember to wear your swimsuit under your clothes, as there may not be time to change.

10人くらいの参加者と2人のインストラクターで泳ぎました。海は綺麗で澄んでいて、ただ泳いでいるだけでとても気持ち良かったです。
この日は、なんとアザラシがビーチでお昼寝をしていて、びっくりしました。

We signed up as a family of six, and my elderly mother joined us for the tour while five of us, including my two elementary school-aged sons, participated! With the support of our guide Chieko, even as a beginner, I was able to see not only sea turtles but also many beautiful fish! We swam for about an hour, and my younger son, who is in lower elementary school, had to take a break and head back to the beach, but I was really glad we got to see the sea turtles before that.

Even if you're not confident in your swimming skills, there's no need to worry about drowning; as long as you can breathe calmly through your mouth, you should be fine. There will be explanations during the preparation phase, but since we swim close to the rocky areas and the water temperature is lower in the morning, I think it's better for those who are concerned to rent a wetsuit.

準備段階で説明がありますが、岩場のすぐそばを泳ぐこと、午前中は水温も低めのため気になる方はウエットスーツをレンタルされた方が良いと思います。

疲れましたが、テレビ等でしか見たことのない海の中を実際に見れて本当に満足です。
息子2人はツアー終了後、早速ABCストアでシュノーケリングセットを購入しました。
機会があれば、ぜひまた参加したいと思います。

I joined alone and was worried because I’m not very good at swimming and don’t have much stamina, but Chieko and Dan helped me throughout, and I was able to enjoy it until the end. The sand was swirling, so the visibility wasn’t excellent, but I was able to see many beautiful fish and sea turtles. They also took photos, which can be downloaded for free from Facebook, so I think that’s considerate. It was a hot summer day, but there were many cold spots in the sea, and I often found myself shivering. Out of the seven participants, five were able to swim from one end of Hanauma Bay to the other. This was my second time participating in a snorkeling tour, and I felt that you really need to be able to swim to some extent and have stamina to enjoy it fully. Overall, I was very satisfied with the tour and had a great time.

In June, I participated in this tour. When I first tried snorkeling, I struggled and couldn't really see much underwater, which was a disaster. So, I really hesitated about joining this time, but after reading other people's experiences, I decided to go for it.

As a result, I received really kind and thorough instruction from Chieko and Dan, and I am truly grateful to them. I was scared to even put my face in the water and thought I might not be able to do it, but Dan told me to breathe slowly and relax, holding my hand tightly. Then, the tour with six people started! Chieko took over and guided us, swimming while holding our hands. Gradually, my fear disappeared, and when we spotted fish, Chieko would call out and even tell us their names, which made me very happy.

Since the rocks are very close, I recommend borrowing a wetsuit. It helps those who are not very good at swimming to float more easily and prevents injuries. The snorkel I borrowed here ensures that as long as you can breathe through your mouth, no water will come in, so for those who are anxious like me or not confident in swimming, you can definitely participate. If I could do it, anyone can... haha.

Swimming for almost an hour can be quite tiring, but seeing the fish makes all the fatigue disappear. If you want to get out, they will take you back to shore.

Lastly, there can be some seasickness, so I think it's a good idea for those prone to motion sickness to take medication beforehand. 　6月、このツアーに参加させていただきました。初めてシュノーケルした時は、上手く出来ずろくに海の中を見る余裕もなく最悪だったので今回参加するにあたって本当に悩みましたが他の方の体験談を読み思い切って参加させていただきました。
結果、本当に親切丁寧に教えてくださってチエコさんダンさんには本当にお世話になりました。顔をつけるところから怖くて無理かなあ？と思っていたところ、ダンさんがゆっくり息をしてください。力抜いてくださいと言って手をしっかり握ってくださいました。そして、6名でのツアースタート！チエコさんに交代してみんなの後をしっかり手をひっぱって泳いでくれました。だんだん怖さもなくなり、魚をみつけてはチエコさんが声をかけてくださって、お魚の名前も教えてくれたり、うれしかったです。岩がとっても近いのでウエットスーツを借りることをおすすめします。泳ぎがあまり得意でない方は浮きやすくなりますし、ケガ防止にもなります。こちらでお借りしたシュノーケルは呼吸さえ口で出来れば絶対に水が入ってくることはありませんので、私のように不安のある方、泳ぎが得意でない方、参加を迷われてる方、大丈夫です。私でもできましたから。。。。笑
1時間近く泳ぎっぱなしでかなり疲れますがお魚さんを見たら疲れも吹っ飛びますよ。上がりたくなれば沖まで連れて行ってくれます。
最後に波酔いがありますので、船酔いしやすい方は薬を飲んでいくといいと思います。
本当にチエコさん最後の最後まで手を引っ張って泳いで下さりありがとうございました。はじめて海の中をお魚さんと一緒に泳げるという体験をさせていただきました。感謝しています。

We participated as a couple. After arriving in Hawaii, we struggled with the time difference and contacted them to see if we could change our schedule from morning to afternoon. Fortunately, we were able to move it to the following afternoon. They were flexible and accommodating, which we greatly appreciated.

Upon meeting Chieko, whose reliable yet gentle demeanor put us at ease, we were able to express our concerns right away, and she was very considerate throughout. After joining Dan and a family from Seattle, we received excellent support and were able to enjoy snorkeling with peace of mind.

We were thrilled to see a honu and even downloaded photos from Facebook. I took motion sickness medication, but my husband ended up feeling seasick, and I apologize for any concern that caused. However, we had a wonderful time! Thank you!

We were able to see not only turtles but also rare rays right below us, and I believe it was the unique experience provided by Chieko and her team that made it so special.

My husband and I were first time snorkelers. Dan picked us up promptly from our hotel and we had a lovely drive to Hanauma Bay. Dan explained everything to us and was very professional. We snorkeled at our own pace, but Dan and his wife were always watching to make sure that everyone in our group was safe. We were lucky enough to see four turtles as well as other fish. All necessary gear was provided. I highly recommend this tour!

Hanauma Bay Self-Guided Snorkel Tour & Gear Rental with Hotel Transportation

Our shuttle time was for 9am and we’re were picked up at 8:59am in a 12 person van. It only took 20 minutes to get to the bay but then we had to wait for 15 minutes just to park and get out. Our drivers name was Diogo and he was super friendly and nice to look at too lol :) After being fitted for our gear we walked to the entrance and paid our $7.50 per person over 13 years to get in and watched a 10 minute video about the history of the bay. It’s a little ways to walk down to the bay and can be tiring to walk back up after snorkeling but they offer shuttle service for $1.25 each way or $2.50 for the day. Take the shuttle. There’s a snack bar at the top if you want a $4 precooked hotdog but it’s better to bring your own snacks. We got into the water at 10:15am and met back up with the driver at 2pm to go back to our hotel, again he was right on time. Overall the kids thought it was fun and we would do it again. The best snorkeling is off to the left side of the beach. The water gets clearer the further you go out.
