We were looking for a dinner where we could enjoy a traditional Hawaiian show, as per our family's wishes. Usually, luau events are held away from Waikiki, but this one was conveniently located at the Hyatt in the city center, making it perfect for us since we had plans during the day!
Additionally, the buffet menu was excellent, and I believe even our family members who are not accustomed to international flavors enjoyed the meal!
As for the show itself, we were very satisfied with the ukulele performances and hula dancing at each table, as well as the opportunity to go up on stage for a hula dance experience and receive leis and kukui nuts!
If you're looking for a luau in Waikiki, I highly recommend this plan!

I have visited Kualoa Ranch many times, and I usually only did horseback riding, but due to the weak yen, I made a reservation for this experience this time. I was surprised to find such a place within Kualoa Ranch. However, the lunch was not good, and wild birds came to the dining area, making it very difficult to eat slowly. I wonder if it was hygienic? As for the afternoon cruise, it was very refreshing, but it was different from what I had expected, and I felt scared due to the strong winds. The explanations were in English, so I couldn't understand the content at all.

The entertainment was top-notch and the food was delicious. I loved the different portions of entertainment that were designed around the various cultures that came together through history to make Hawaii what it is today. It was exactly the kind of experience and education I was hoping for.
Our tour bus did get stuck in some traffic and was slower due to picking up guests from multiple locations, and while I felt like that luau did their best to hold off on the main event (dinner and show) until we arrived (which I greatly appreciated), we did miss out on getting the full experience listed on the events description (i.e. "Interact up close and personal with your Pacific Island hosts with Hawaiian crafts, hula lessons, coconut husking, fire making, weaving, tattooing, and more. ") So if those activities are important to you, you might want to consider booking private transportation to the luau instead of taking the group shuttle option to make sure you arrive in plenty of time to get the full experience.
Tips on taking private transportation as opposed to a group bus are suggested in my main review.
I went with my family because it looked delicious on a certain program, but even though we placed a green sign in a visible spot, it was ignored. The staff kept asking the white group behind us if they wanted meat.
I thought something was off, so I placed the sign on the corner of the table to make it more visible, but it was still ignored. Of course, our plates were empty. We had only eaten about four types of meat, and yet no one came to us at all.
I started to think that the staff who walked around with the meat could choose their favorite tables, and it seemed like they were deciding based on their preferences. It became quite obvious as I watched. I was genuinely disappointed to realize that the television show was staged.
At one point, a white staff member who was taking care of our table came over and asked, "Beef? Pork?"
As for the taste, the quality of the meat was very polarizing—some were delicious while others were mediocre. To put it simply, it was on par with all-you-can-eat places found in large shopping centers in Japan. Therefore, the price and the attitude of the staff are worlds apart from certain steakhouses or all-you-can-eat crab places in Waikiki. If you're focused on affordability, I would recommend it.

味ですが、美味しい肉とイマイチな肉が両極端です。分かりやすくいうと日本の大型ショッピングセンターに入ってる食べ放題の店、といったランクです。なのでワイキキにある某ステーキハウスや蟹が食べ放題の場所とは金額も店員の態度も雲泥の差です。安さ重視の方はオススメです。

Weather was bad - cold and windy, not something controllable. (Although given such wind and low temperature , it might have been ethical for the tour to cancel itself.) But 1) the bus had all of the boat waiting after the trip for about 30 minutes, 2) there wasn’t a sufficient wind shelter for everyone, meaning old ppl and babies were exposed to cold wind. The lunch was also meh - bbq is an overstatement for hamburger patties and buns. Crew was friendly.

Just an overall fun experience. From learning about the different cultures to the games and activities to the amazing food! Everything was planned and every worker was helpful and polite. I highly recommend doing the full day event and using it as one of your full vacation days. It was a very long day, but it was well worth it and the food buffet was like nothing I had ever seen before. The best part was the luau completely captivating and well done.
The one-hour course was just enough. All the staff were very nice, and we had a great time. The scenery was also amazing! My 10-year-old son was very satisfied as well.
