It was very impressive. I had a standard passport valid for two days, but unfortunately, I could only go for one day due to the length of my stay, which was very disappointing.
At the Battleship Missouri, a guide who spoke in the visitors' language thoroughly showed us the highlights of the ship. You can catch a glimpse of the situation surrounding the outbreak and conclusion of World War II from both Japan's and America's perspectives. I felt the curiosity of how the United States has created such a facility without leaning towards either side.
Since it's run by a non-profit organization, I think it's a good idea to donate any spare change you can't use during your trip to Hawaii (since the coin amounts can be hard to see, they tend to accum

I went to Pearl Harbor and it was a really interesting place to visit, but there were some parts I liked more than others.
My favorite part was the airplane area. We went to the Top of the Tower (paid extra $10.00 ) and saw 360 degree view of Pearl Harbor. There was one section in the back (kind of like a shed) which I found the coolest planes. I also really liked the submarine. It wasn’t very big, but it was cool because you could see how people actually lived inside. The beds were super small, and it made me imagine how hard life must have been there.
The USS Missouri wasn’t that exciting to me because I didn’t really find anything very interesting there. Also, the bus rides to go back and forth was a little boring and it felt like a waste of time.
One important tip is to eat a good breakfast before you go. Once you start visiting everything, you
I experienced the USS Missouri, which was an active battleship until recently. There was so much I didn't know about the wartime situation, the Japanese Imperial Army, the Kamikaze attacks, and the Missouri's role after the Pacific War. It was very educational. Spending a whole day there was definitely worth it.
<Recommended Route: Prepare a QR Code>

The entrance shop sells clear bags, so you can put a little bit of your belongings in there. Each facility has places where you can eat, so you should be fine with almost empty hands.
Aloha Masahi, Thank you for visiting the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum. I'm happy to hear that you had a wonderful time here. We look forward to welcoming you again!
It was great to be able to see the battleship that still bears the scars of war. The Japanese tour guide was easy to understand, and I was able to learn a lot of things.
The ship is quite large, so you'll be walking a lot. There are also many stairs, so please make sure to be in good health to participate.
I wanted to take a bus tour around the area for the first time, but I was disappointed that I didn't have enough time. Next time, I would like to set aside a full day to explore.
It's best to set aside at least half a day. Also, it takes about an hour and a half by bus from Waikiki, so plan accordingly.
The Japanese guided tour was free and very easy to understand, making it a great learning experience. They kindly answered various questions as well. The interior of the ship is really spacious, and the exhibits are well-equipped.
Exploring the ship can be quite tiring, but don't forget that you can climb up to the 5th floor from near the exit at the end!
We saw all of Pearl Harbor at our pace with a guided tour of the Missouri. You get 2 consecutive days to see everything. It was a very memorable visit. Book your boat to the Arizona first. We booked the Pearl Harbor pass first then had to change it due to no tickets available for our original dates. Also the dates are available about a month early.
You can get standby tickets to the Arizona but it’s not guaranteed.
The inside of the ship and submarine are not accessible to wheelchairs and are very tight spaces.
The whole day was pack full of things to do, and each of them were really special. It was a very long day, and the weather was warm, especially on the Missouri. I would not have skipped a thing, though. The staff were all wonderful and you could tell they had so much respect for the history of the place. This was a bucket list item for me, and I'm so grateful tho have been able to go.
Go early, get on the waitlist for the Arizona Memorial immediately. Drink lots of water.
After visiting the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor on November 18, 2025, I went to the Battleship Missouri Memorial. I was able to make an online reservation before departing from Japan, which made my visit very reassuring.
The Battleship Missouri was launched in January 1944 and participated in the Iwo Jima and Okinawa landings. On September 2, 1945, it served as the venue for the signing ceremony of the surrender documents between the Allied forces led by General MacArthur and the Japanese government delegation led by Foreign Minister Shigemitsu.
Later, in 1950, it was deployed during the Korean War, and although it was decommissioned in 1955, it was reactivated in 1986. It participated in the Gulf War in 1991, was decommissioned again in 1992, and arrived at Pearl Harbor in 1998, opening as a memorial the following year. The Missouri is referred to as the last battleship because it was the last to be completed and the last to be decommissioned.
There are Japanese-speaking volunteer guides on board who provide detailed information about the history of the Missouri, its main guns, and the surrender document signing ceremony, so I recommend requesting a guide.
There is a counter at the entrance where you can check in. After the guided tour, you can freely explore the ship. You can visit various areas of the battleship that are not typically accessible, including the bridge, the dining areas for senior officers and sailors, the sleeping quarters, and the ship's post office, making it a valuable experience.
It takes about 2 hours to see everything inside the ship, so I recommend visiting with plenty of time to spare.
There were many exhibits related to Japan, and it was very educational. I was also able to tour the interior of a battleship that was actually used, and I believe such exhibits are unique. I'm glad I went.
A sunshade is essential.
I learned that Hawaii's plants and flowers include both native species and introduced species from Oceania and other regions. The explanation provided by the two participants was thorough and attentive. Making leis was also a wonderful, unique experience.
There is nothing in particular that needs to be prepared.
This is my second visit to the Bishop Museum. No matter how many times I see it, the building and the decorations inside are wonderful.
The dinosaur exhibition area will surely delight children as well.
We brought rice balls and drinks and ate them in the garden.
Thank you for visiting the Bishop Museum! We're glad to hear you enjoyed it! Please stop by again if you have the chance! Mahalo!
Mahalo!
This battleship was actually used until about 30 years ago. You can see photos of the actual attack sites of the Japanese kamikaze, as well as images of the water burials conducted by American soldiers, and the surrender documents of Japan from World War II. Additionally, free Japanese tours can be booked on the ship on the day of your visit.
If you're signing up for the free tour on board, it's essential to bring a hat, sunglasses, and drinks since it's mainly outdoors!
During my visit to Pearl Harbor National Memorial, I was struck by the powerful sense of history and reflection that filled the site. Walking through the museum exhibits, I learned about the events of December 7, 1941, and saw artifacts, photos, and personal stories that brought the day to life. Taking the boat ride out to the USS Arizona Memorial was especially moving, as I stood above the sunken battleship and honored the lives lost. The experience was both educational and emotional, offering a deep reminder of the sacrifices made and the importance of peace.
You can book the ticket last minute!
You can enter the Missouri, the Aviation Museum, and the Submarine Museum smoothly. At the Aviation Museum and the Submarine Museum, you can borrow audio guides for free, so even those who are not confident in their English can feel at ease.
If you want to take your time, I think it's better to split it into two days. Doing it in one day can be quite exhausting.
There are tours for all of Pearl Harbor, but there are no standalone tours just for the Aviation Museum. You have to go directly to the site, but this time I was helped by getting tickets that couldn't be obtained from the official page.
Information about the HOLO card is essential. It's not that difficult.
Since it's public transportation, it's exciting to see various local people getting on.
I was able to take my time and explore throughout the entire day, which was very nice.
There were also light snacks available at various places, so I didn't have much trouble.
It seems that the convenience store at the visitor center closes early, so please be careful.
Passport gave us a smooth experience and entry into everything Pearl Harbor has to offer.
Just book your ferry ride out to Uss Arizona when you arrive so you’re not waiting to see it .
Everything was great with not problems at all. It was easy to purchase online and have the tickets on my phone.
This was an incredible experience and a highlight of the trip for our family. We particularly enjoyed the submarine and the tour of the ship.
You need a lot of time (and it goes super quickly!) but you will learn so much and be very moved.
Every thing you said it would be and more Thank you
There are tours available in Japanese on the battleship, and I was able to learn a lot about the history of the USS Missouri, especially places related to Japan.
The official website of the USS Missouri Memorial (https://ussmissouri.org/) also sells tickets, but I couldn't purchase them with my Japanese credit card, so I bought them through VELTRA. There are so many highlights that it might be difficult to see everything in one day. I considered other sightseeing tours departing from Honolulu, but I decided to split my visit into two days to take my time.
I purchased tickets for the Captain's Tour and the Chief Engineer's Tour (in Japanese) on the day of my visit, and they showed us places that are normally off-limits, making it a very interesting tour.
After visiting the USS Missouri, watching the movies "Battleship" and "Midway" provided a different perspective.
You cannot bring carry-on luggage or bags (checking them is subject to a fee). I had a hamburger at the concession stand near the USS Missouri. (There were also hot dogs for sale near the submarine Bo
I have been to Hawaii several times, but I had a feeling that the impression of Japanese people might not be good, so I somewhat avoided it. However, after actually going, I found that this was completely untrue. I enjoyed it just as much as any other activity.
This time, due to time constraints, I only visited the USS Missouri, but I would like to consider visiting other facilities next time. However, please note that tickets for the Arizona Memorial are on a waitlist online for same-day entry, so you cannot wait in line without a mobile phone.
The USS Missouri itself is full of highlights, and even rushing through, it took quite a bit of time. I was able to understand well what it was like when this ship was in active service.
I took the bus from Honolulu, which took just under an hour. I think the time is not much different from a tour bus. You can't bring your luggage during the visit, so I paid $7.00 to check it, but tha
It was surprisingly uncrowded, with few Japanese people, giving it a foreign theme park feel. There's quite a lot to see, and if you take your time, one day won't be enough.
Bags are not allowed to be brought in. You must check them in for a fee.
This is my first visit since elementary school. After learning about the nostalgia and history, the tour is a completely different experience. You can also visit the surrender deck, and although the signing documents are replicas, you can see them. This is the only place where you can meet heroes who participated in the Gulf War. Don't worry about your wife or girlfriend's expressions; just keep moving forward. Make sure to make a reservation.
Since you often face opposition from women, please make your reservation with a strong attitude. Listen to the requiem of the fallen.
A Japanese person named Momo guided us through the battleship Missouri. She was very kind and attentive. I was able to deeply feel the history, and it was a great experience.
Our agent got us these and was easier and we got to avoid the long line at the park!
If it wasn’t for our tour guide, Dave, our adventure would have been very unsatisfactory. There was far far too much driving. The caves were inaccessible for most of us as the rocks were slippery. The stairs were steep, and there weren’t enough hiking sticks to go around. we stopped for quite a bit of time just to have lunch, which to me was very unnecessary. A snack would’ve sufficed. Then we drove, which seemed to be forever to go see the most recent lava flow… Which was quite interesting but somewhat repetitive. Again, if it wasn’t for our tour guide, Dave, his personality, information and enthusiasm It would’ve been a bust. Again far far far too much driving for what we actually could get out and enjoy and see.
Less driving and more interactive stops.
