I departed for Hawaii on a flight from Narita, arriving at 6:20 AM. From there, I took a taxi to the hotel, relaxed in the lobby, and then dropped off my suitcase before heading to Mandara Spa. I had a reservation for 10 AM, but check-in was at 9:30 AM.

We were called in two at a time, and in the meantime, we used the spa facilities.

I dozed off during the massage, but the spa was very beautiful, and my excitement for just arriving in Hawaii was high. The hotel check-in was at noon, and since my schedule was packed, I left the spa shortly after noon. It was a shame that I couldn't use the pool as well.

I highly recommend using this time for a nap from your arrival in Hawaii until check-in!

Men and women change separately, but my husband received a paper with explanations in Japanese from the person who guided him, so I thought it would be better if they were consistent. The spa felt small, and Japanese onsen facilities are many times better. I don't think I'll be using it again.

During the spa visit, I went up and down the elevator in just a gown, but since other people using the pool were in the same elevator, including men, I felt somewhat embarrassed. This was my first time using a spa, so I read everyone's reviews beforehand. There was hardly any explanation from the staff at the reception, so I'm glad I did my research. There was no mention of anything regarding pants either. I later noticed it in front of the mirror, but I was fine without it.

I checked in early and headed to the jacuzzi in the relaxing room. Since I didn't encounter anyone, being naked was fine. If you plan to go into the pool later, it might be better to stay naked here, as you'd have to wear a wet swimsuit afterward. It was true that there were no fruit refills and no basic skincare products! I'm glad I brought my own. There was a hairdryer, but only a skeleton brush type, so I was also glad I brought my curling dryer. Some shower booths had weak water pressure. The sauna was lukewarm and not good at all.

The oil massage was very good. I wished it could have lasted longer! The pool was very small, but it was nice that there were no children.

Overall, my evaluation is that for a luxury spa, the amenities were lacking, and the pool was small, so I give it ★★★★.

オイルマッサージはとても良かったです。もっと長くやってもらいたかった!
プールはとても狭かったですが子どもがいないのは良かったです。

I do this each time i arrive to Hawaii, get a nice deep tissue massage. Second time going back to this place and are very delicate on approach of doing things; for you! Which is should be, especially when you should be relax and feel better. They do just that and why i would go back again and again. Yes it is pretty penny to pay, but the cost doesn't outweigh the experience of physically in Hawaii and now feeling the trip is off a on great start!
Its down the street from my hotel.

On the day of my appointment, I ended up taking a taxi because I was running late.
1. When I got out of the taxi and told the porter that I had a spa reservation, I was informed that it was in a different tower, so I walked over there. Was that mentioned somewhere?
2. I thought the treatments were to be done individually, but the staff told me that they could be done together, which was great! However, a Japanese staff member later informed me that due to the voucher, we would have to do them one at a time, which was disappointing. I understand that this was stated from the beginning, so it can't be helped...
3. After changing, I waited for over 30 minutes and, not being very interested in the sauna or jacuzzi, I sat down and passed the time looking at my smartphone. When I heard my companion's name being called, I found out that the charts had been mixed up. The names are similar, so it might be understandable, but the staff had confirmed before we changed...
4. When I went to the lobby, my companion was there. After finishing, it was my turn, and I thought my name had been called by mistake, but it turned out I hadn't been treated yet! I wondered what I had been waiting for during those 30 minutes.
5. I heard that someone was dozing off while sitting, and overall, the place had a rather laid-back atmosphere. I had made the reservation thinking it would be a luxury spa experience, but I think a place where you can casually go without a reservation would be better, as it wouldn't be so time-restricted. The massage itself was very good, and the shower room had high-quality shampoo and body soap available for use, which was nice.

２、一人ずつの施術と認識していましたが一緒に出来るとスタッフに言われ良かった！と思っていると日本人スタッフにバウチャーの関係で一人ずつになると言われてガッカリしました。でもそれは最初から明記されている事なので仕方のないことと理解していますが・・・
３、着替えて30分も経ってサウナやジャグジーバスにもあまり興味が無く椅子に座ってスマホを見て時間を潰していたら同行者の名前を呼ばれて聞くと、カルテが逆になっていた。名前が似てるのでしょうがないかもしれませんが、着替える前にスタッフの人が確認したのにもかかわらず・・・でした。
４、呼ばれて行くとロビーで同行者が居ました。終わって自分の順番が来て間違っていながらも名前を呼ばれたかと思いきやまだ施術していないとの事！
この30分あまり何の為に待っていたのかと思いました。

I didn't have high expectations for the massage at the resort, but it was quite skilled compared to those I've received in Japan. (It also suited me well.) There was no unnecessary chatter during the treatment, allowing me to relax completely.

The 60-minute course included acupressure (back) → oil massage (back) → oil massage (feet) → oil massage (decollete & neck/head), and the balance was great, leaving me feeling refreshed. If it was this good, I wish I had opted for a longer course!

If time and money allow, I think it would be perfect to have a short course after arriving in Hawaii and a longer course on the evening of the last day.

One thing to note is that there are no paper underwear provided, so you'll be treated in your own underwear. There is that lingering feeling from the oil massage on your skin and some dishevelment of your hair, so it's a good idea to plan this for the end of your outing or bring a hat for reassurance.

I believe getting two treatments here is more worthwhile than one at a luxury hotel!

施術中の無駄話も一切なくリラックス出来ました。
指圧(背面)→オイルマッサージ(背面)→オイルマッサージ(足)→オイルマッサージ(デコルテ＆首・頭)で60分のコースでしたがバランスも良くスッキリしました。こんなに上手なら、もう少し長いコースにすれば良かったー！
お金と時間が許すならハワイ到着後に短いコース、ハワイ最終日の夕方に長いコースをやると最高だと思います。
注意点として、紙パンツなどはないので自前の下着での施術になります。
オイルマッサージ特有の肌に残る感じ＆髪の毛の乱れはありますので、お出かけの最後にするか帽子の準備などがあると安心です。
高級ホテルのマッサージ1回やるより、こちらで2回受ける方がお得だと思いますよ〜！

待つことになります。私は裸にバスローブだったのでヒヤヒヤ（笑）

プールなど好きに使っていいと言われましたが私も主人も

Since I am Japanese, I was assigned a Japanese therapist without any choice. I’m sorry to say, but she felt more like a lady from a local massage parlor than a therapist from a hotel spa. Perhaps because it was the last day of my trip and I was tired, I found myself dozing off about ten minutes before it ended. Instead of a relaxing lomi lomi massage, it was just a regular oil massage with very quick movements, which made me feel unsettled at first. After the treatment, there was a sales pitch for the products used during the massage, which left me feeling a bit uncomfortable. I was told that I could use the spa facilities before and after the treatment, but honestly, I was quite disappointed. Not only could I not see any scenery, but I could hardly see the sky either. The mist sauna was not warm at all, and the fruits provided were not replenished, leaving the basket almost empty. Even though it’s a spa locker room that offers facial treatments, there were no basic skincare products like lotions available. While I don’t need items like sanitary products or nail files, I would appreciate having things like toner, moisturizer, and sunscreen available for use at the spa.

日本人だから、選択種なく日本人セラピストがつきました。申し訳ないですが、ホテルのスパのセラピストというより、その辺のマッサージ屋さんのおばさんって感じ雰囲気の方でした。旅の最終日で疲れていたためか、終わる10分くらい前には少しウトウトしていましたが、ゆったりとしたロミロミというより、単なるオイルマッサージで、とっても素早い動きのため、最初は落ち着きませんでした。施術後、マッサージで使った商品のセールストークがあり、少し嫌な気分になりました。施術の前後、スパ施設利用が出来るとのことでしたが、正直、かなりがっかりしました。景色は見えないどころか、空さえあまり見えない作りで、ミストサウナは全然温かくないし、提供されているフルーツも補充がなくて、バスケットの中はほぼ空っぽ。フェイシャルメニューもあるスパのロッカールームなのに、ローション等の基礎化粧品は一切ありませんでした。生理用品とか爪やすりなんていらないので、スパで使う高級品である必要はないながら、化粧水や乳液、日焼け止めクリーム等は置いてほしいですね。

I used the spa on the first day of my arrival. To be honest, the quality of the spa facilities themselves was quite low (the quality is even higher at Japanese super sento). So, it might be better to go without high expectations for the spa. However, the massage was excellent, and the therapist was very skilled, which helped relieve my travel fatigue! The massage room was also spacious and private, which was great!
