I was staying at the Aston Waikiki Beach Tower, but it was only about a 10-minute walk from the hotel to the beach, so my wife and others walked from the hotel to the beach. On that day, I didn't surf, but a total of six people participated, including my 16-year-old daughter, a Japanese family, and a Korean couple. Since it was my daughter's first time surfing, we requested a private lesson. This was the right choice. In a group, there is one instructor for every five people, which reduces the number of times you can catch a wave, but with a one-on-one lesson, there are frequent opportunities to ride the waves. Thanks to this, my daughter was able to enjoy surfing frequently and surprisingly quickly. After finishing, we returned to the shop, where they showed us images taken by a drone. Since I always played golf, I decided to try surfing for the first time while in Hawaii. When I went to the surf shop offering lessons, there was quite a crowd waiting, which was encouraging. It was a semi-private lesson, but I felt there wasn't much difference from a group lesson. The timing for paddling with the waves was entirely up to the coach. Since I was on a longboard, I was able to stand up right from the start, which was fun. However, paddling out to the ocean was tough, and that was quite challenging. I'm excited that there are more options in Hawaii to enjoy in the future.
