I was unsure whether to go alone by bus, but I decided to join the round-trip shuttle bus tour. The pickup location was not at my hotel, but it was within a few minutes' walk. After riding a mini bus for about 30 to 40 minutes, we arrived at the facility near Kailua Beach. Several Japanese staff members were waiting to explain the services.
I rented a bicycle for $10 and went snorkeling at Lanikai Beach, which was about a 15-minute ride from the facility. It was a bit chilly and rainy that day, so I couldn't snorkel for long, but the sea was beautiful, just as I had heard, and the beach was not crowded. I took photos with the Mokulua Islands in the background. I then rode my bike to Kailua Beach, which took about 5 minutes (be careful of the hill).
I planned to swim at Kailua Beach, but I gave up because the rain got stronger. I decided to return to the facility for lunch. The tour included free rentals other than bicycles, and I could eat lunch at the facility's restaurant or a nearby pizza place. When I returned to the facility around noon and went to the nearby pizza place, I found out it opened at 1 PM, so I had to give up on that. I was disappointed because I wanted to eat pizza.
I rode my bike to Kailua town, which took about 15 minutes. There was a lot of traffic, so I had to be careful while riding. After having lunch in town, I enjoyed shopping at stylish shops and had some delicious dessert before returning to the facility to take the mini bus back to the city.
It was a fulfilling tour without any wasted time. It's a pity it wasn't sunny, so I plan to try again next year.

It was really great. The beach was nearby, and it was convenient to have lockers and changing rooms available. The lunch pizza was the best pizza I've ever had. I want to go just to eat the pizza! It was about a 15-minute walk to the town of Kailua. I was worried about the roads this time, so I walked, but there was plenty of space for biking, so I plan to rent a bike next time.

We had to wait for the people coming later with the kayak, and that made the kids feel sick. Since they weren't able to paddle the kayak themselves, we were relieved to be towed back by the mother boat. However, it was tough being in a place without any shade while feeling nauseous.

On the way there, the wind was strong, and I had a hard time moving forward, but the refreshing feeling when I reached the destination was quite something.
We went to a small island called Flat Island and took a lot of pictures.

Standing on the board was more difficult than I expected. I fell into the sea multiple times and had to crawl back onto the board each time, which took quite a bit of energy. Moreover, the tide changed halfway through, and by the end, I was desperately paddling towards the shore.

According to Mieko, our coach, the conditions were excellent. It was our family's first experience, but somehow all four of us managed to stand up on the board and move! After the lecture by the renowned instructor Mieko, I thought I had grasped the tips and headed out to the sea, underestimating how easy stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) would be. Despite the conditions being rated a 9 out of 10 with calm waves, I struggled to stand and balance at first, falling into the water multiple times and realizing how challenging it was. However, the sea was beautiful, and I felt happy to experience my first SUP in such a scenic setting, especially since participants the day before had faced high waves in the river. โจ Although I applied sunscreen diligently, the strong sun still led to some sunburn.
After paddling mostly while sitting, I finally reached an uninhabited island where Mieko kindly explained the island's scenery and wildlife, took great photos at nice spots, and we enjoyed some conversation.
On the way back, I felt a bit more accustomed to it, and with the flow of the waves, the board moved smoothly. Thanks to Mieko's precise advice, I was able to stand and balance for longer, and it felt like I quickly returned to the beach. I wished I could have stayed out longer! I'm glad that with Mieko's guidance, I was able to stand and maneuver the board!
The recommended pizza lunch after all that effort was exceptionally delicious!

I participated alone on short notice this time. Mieko, who was in charge, explained how to ride the SUP very clearly and took a lot of photos, so I was able to relax and enjoy myself! Everything went smoothly from the pickup time to arrival. Renting a bicycle for $10 was a great decision. We quickly got takeout from Kimo's Pancakes. We shared it and ended up very full. The staff were kind, and we had a wonderful time at Kailua Beach. For lunch, we had plates at the hotel.

I had wanted to try SUP for a long time, so my husband and I participated together. I was a bit anxious because we hardly exercise and I was worried about whether I could keep up with the instructor, Emiko, based on the reviews I read.
On the day of the event, it was quite windy, and we paddled while sitting to a nearby island, which took about 40 minutes. On the way back, I was able to stand on the board. I fell into the sea several times, but in the end, I managed to stand on the board and ride the waves all the way to the sandy beach.
In the end!! I was tired, but it was incredibly fun.
There were three participants that day, and two instructors accompanied us.
- The veteran instructor, Emiko, taught us strictly yet kindly. She had a big sister vibe that made her easy to approach, and I really liked her.
- Tomoki was super handsome and kind, and when I had trouble on the water, he gave me precise advice.
I thought I wouldn't be able to stand on the board, but by following their advice, I was able to do it in the end. I felt a sense of accomplishment that I hadn't felt in a while, and it was amazing.
During the free time in the morning, I rented a bike and took out pancakes from Boots & Kimo's to enjoy at Lanikai Beach. Cycling was also fun.

Carrying the kayak to the sea by myself was tough, but the ocean was so beautiful! With a guide, even beginners can feel at ease! I was happy to have my photos taken and received them right there!
The lunch included in the tour was delicious! It was from an old pizza shop, and I was surprised by the size! But it was so tasty that I could easily finish it. I want to come back just to eat this again!

This year, I challenged myself to stand-up paddleboarding, which is quite out of character for me. Thanks to Mieko's strict yet accurate guidance (and a few laughs), I was able to reach Bopoiya Island despite falling in multiple times. I was able to take many wonderful photos from great angles, creating fun memories. I highly recommend wearing a life jacket!

We participated as a couple in our fifties. Although we had some concerns about our physical fitness, we decided to sign up because everyone else's experiences sounded enjoyable.
On the day of the tour, we were picked up near our hotel and taken to a shop in Kailua. We had free time in the morning and kayaking in the afternoon. They provided a video on how to spend our free time. Renting bikes to visit Lanikai Beach was appealing, but we ultimately chose to head to Boots & Kimo's for their pancakes. We took out pancakes with macadamia nut sauce and French toast, then went to a nearby Whole Foods to buy iced coffee and smoothies. It had been six months since we last had them, and it was a moment of happinessโdefinitely delicious!
When we returned to the shop, we thought about having lunch with the coupon we received, but we were too full to eat. I wanted to try the recommended spinach and garlic pizza, but I had to give up due to being stuffed. It felt a bit wasteful.
In the afternoon, it was finally time for kayaking! The wind was strong, and the waves were high, which made me hesitant to start, but with a push from our guide, we reluctantly began. However, once we got on the kayak, it turned out to be manageable. With encouragement and advice from the staff, we set off towards our target island. Our paddling was a bit awkward at first, but we gradually learned and managed to reach the island. The guided tour around the island was very enjoyable. On the way back, we were pushed by the waves and quickly arrived at Kailua Beach. Next time, I definitely want to challenge myself to kayak to the twin islands we saw offshore.
When I signed up for this tour, I thought, "Kayaking for the first time at this age?" and honestly felt quite hesitant when I saw the high waves on the day. However, seeing is believingโit was incredibly fun! I now feel motivated to challenge myself with a more difficult course next time, thanks to this tour. On the day of participation, we received an explanation from our guide, Mieko, that it might be better to avoid going out to sea due to strong winds. As beginners, we decided to go to the river instead. The river had no waves, so we were hardly worried about falling in.
In the river, we saw Hawaiian plants and fruits, and fish swimming around. There were also people living in luxurious homes having a party, and they cheerfully called out to us, asking if we were having fun with a microphone in hand!
My wife got a bit tired in the river, so I decided to challenge myself and go to the sea alone. There were some people being swept away, possibly due to the strong winds, but it seemed okay since the wind was not blowing out to sea. Personally, I found the waves to be more enjoyable. I recommend that those who are less strong try the areas with fewer waves. Mieko was also an interesting person and taught us carefully. I fell in once, but I would like to try again!

I signed up for a tour with a Japanese guide.
We had about two hours of free time at the beginning, and I rented a bike to go to Lanikai Beach!
They carefully taught us how to ride the bike and kayak, so even beginners can enjoy it with peace of mind.
They also lend out snorkeling gear and mats, so you can go hands-free! Both Lanikai Beach and Kailua Beach were incredibly beautiful, and we saw plenty of fish even in the shallow waters!
The guide led us while kayaking, and they took lots of photos for us.
We learned a lot about the island, and it was a very fulfilling experience!
We even saw a sea turtle while kayaking, which was a rare experience!
Honolulu is busy and urban, but Kailua was relaxed and comfortable!
The Japanese staff, as well as the other staff members, were all friendly, and even though we couldn't speak English well, we had a great time!

I had a great time paddleboarding at Kailua Beach. The waves were relatively calm, so even though it was my first time in the ocean, I managed pretty well. However, it was a bit challenging to carry my own equipment from the office to the beach. It was surprisingly heavy. I was satisfied because I could spend my time as I liked!

This is our third time participating as a senior couple. The sea can be quite challenging with the wind, so we decided to paddle leisurely in the calm canals where there are no waves or wind. While enjoying the views of golf courses and vacation homes, we were occasionally greeted by dogs, and we made a round trip to the lake (pond) in two hours. It was a fulfilling time.

I thought it would be easy, but in reality, it was quite difficult to master the technique of standing and paddlingโlaughs. However, sitting down makes it easy even for beginners. My husband seemed to have good balance and, although he was a beginner, he was smoothly paddling while standing.

It was my first time trying SUP, and the instructor Mieko's explanations were easy to understand, which made it really enjoyable! I was able to do better than I expected, and the time flew by. At the island we arrived at along the way, there were seabirds and various photo spots, and thanks to the photographer Mieko, we were able to take a lot of memorable pictures. The other instructors were also very kind, whether at the beach or the shops. In the afternoon, we rode bicycles and went snorkeling, and it really felt like there wasn't enough time. I definitely want to go again!

I participated in a kayak tour with a Japanese guide at Kailua Beach with my sister. We were picked up from our hotel at 7:35 AM and arrived at the shop near Kailua Beach around 9 AM. After receiving an explanation about the kayaks, we carried the kayaks ourselves to a nearby beach and paddled towards a deserted island. Once we reached the island, the guide took us around while explaining about it. They also took a lot of photos for us. On the day I participated, the weather wasn't great, with rain showers coming and going, but it felt adventurous and I enjoyed it. The kayaking time is about an hour, so it might be a bit short for experienced paddlers. However, I recommend this tour for beginners. The staff was cheerful, and the shop's facilities were well-equipped, allowing us to have a safe and enjoyable time.

We participated as a couple with a Japanese guide. We had free time in the first half, and then we went kayaking at noon. We decided to try cycling, which we hadn't planned for. The bike had a brake that stops when you pedal backward, and I was quite nervous getting used to it. However, I was amazed by the beauty of Lanikai Beach and the lovely cycling path along Kailua Beach! I'm glad we did it ^_^
The kayaking in the second half was stunning because the sea was so beautiful, and I was in awe. However, I was so focused on paddling that I couldn't take many photos. After we reached the uninhabited island, we had the guide take various pictures for us, but I was really disappointed that we didn't get a photo of the two of us in the kayak. It ended with me wondering, "Huh? Huh?" The kayaking felt great while we were on it, but we capsized when getting in and out, which turned out to be surprisingly fun (^ ^)w
