Local expert tips

• This activity has limited availability and should be booked two to three weeks in advance. Depending on the season, last-minute booking might be available.
• The North Shore of Oahu will have large waves and rougher ocean conditions in the winter and is usually quite calm and flat in the summer. If you are planning on doing this tour in the winter, go as early as possible for the calmest ocean conditions.
• Due to the nature of the boat and ocean conditions, we recommend taking a motion sickness preventative at least one hour before the boat departure time
• Recommend attire: Wear your swimsuit before boarding the boat, and bring a towel and a light jacket or coverup to wear during the return boat ride. Do not forget your sunscreen!

How to get there?

If you are traveling by car, you will want to get on Interstate H1 West and then continue to H2 North via Exit 8A. With moderate traffic, you will get to Haleiwa in an hour or so from the Waikiki and Honolulu area.

Allow double the time if you are planning to go during the weekend or holidays as local residents will also be traveling to the North Shore.

For those traveling by bus, take the #52 or the #55 bus from Ala Moana Center, and depending on the time of day and the traffic, the trip can take anywhere from two to two and a half hours.

After your check-in, you will head onto the boat with your expert local captain and crew. As you make your way off-shore, learn all about the different sea creatures that you may encounter during adventure, and how to swim and snorkel safely among the sharks. It is important to listen and follow all instructions for your safety, and the safety of others.

Once the boat arrives at the mooring location, you will receive all of your necessary snorkeling equipment to use in the water. Then it is time to enter the water to snorkel as sharks and other types of marine life swim below and around you.
