Meet the Owners

Owners Kala Alexander and Makua Rothman are Hawaiian big wave surfers and professional watermen who are passionate about sharing the rich cultural history of Hawaii and welcome you into the home of their most magical family member, the mano.

Benefits of a Small Group Shark Cage Tour
  • No waiting for your turn to get in the shark cage!
  • The most time in the cage out of any shark tour!
  • You may enter and exit the cage as you like, making this a perfect option for those who may be unsure.
  • More time in the cage means less time spent on a rocking boat, dramatically reducing the chance of seasickness.

The Significance of Sharks in Hawaii

While the often feared mano (shark) is a mighty apex predator, they also serve as custodians of the sea. The mano diet includes sick, injured, and deceased animals, which helps to keep a healthy balance in the ocean's ecosystem. In Hawaiian mythology, the mano is an 'aumakua: a family god or immortalized ancestor reincarnated as a shark. Hawaiian history is full of legends featuring sharks as heroes who guide and defend their human family members.
