What to expect

Head to the Toa Luau, one of the best things to do on the North Shore! Enjoy admission to Waimea Valley, unique kava ceremony, a fire knife dance, hula performances, and a delicious Polynesia dinner buffet with two start times at 12:30PM and 5:00PM.

Q. Are there changing rooms available at Waimea Valley?
A. Yes, changing rooms are available for use. You are welcome to bring a change of clothes for the luau if you plan to swim in Waimea Falls earlier in the day.
Q. What can I do at Waimea Valley?
A. Toa Luau admission includes same day general admission to Waimea Valley, which you can explore before the luau begins. The Waimea Waterfall trail is 1.5 miles (round-trip), paved, rated easy. The path is stroller and wheelchair friendly. If you like to experience the valley without hiking, there is a golf cart shuttle offered at an additional fee at the valley entrance
Q. How much time should I plan to spend at Waimea Valley?
A. If you intend on visiting the valley prior to the luau, plan to arrive at least 2-3 hours before the luau. You can hike up to the waterfall and swim in the refreshing pool.
Q. What is a kava ceremony?
A. Kava is a traditional Polynesian drink that produces feelings of relaxation and cheerfulness without affecting the mind. In its traditional form, the drink is perfectly safe and has no addictive effects. A kava ceremony is a traditional that involves ritual drinking of kava with formal roles of host and guest.
Q. Is there Wi-Fi in the Valley?
A. There is limited free Wi-Fi available throughout Waimea Valley provided by IMI free Wifi. Cell phone reception can be unstable in the area, however.
Q. Can I go through the valley on a separate day?
A. No, access is only valid on the same day as the luau. Waimea Valley hours are 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Waimea Botanical Garden and Falls are closed Mondays except for the Summer months (June to August).
Q. After going through the valley can I go home and come back for the luau?
A. If you are staying in Waikiki we do not recommend going back to the hotel. The drive from Waikiki to Waimea is about 90 minutes.
Q. What if it rains during the luau?
A. Toa Luau facility offers the option of holding all activities indoor.
Q. Is the luau wheelchair accessible?
A. Yes
Q. What is the difference between the 1:00PM and 5:00PM Toa Luau?
A. The only difference between the two luaus are the start times. Both the afternoon and evening luaus offer and incredible luau experience for everyone of all ages.
