Lanai
I was allowed to make a time change on my return time to Maui. The process was smooth and employees were polite.
Nice experience, I will use again for the next trip.

Since I'm going to Maui, I thought I'd be greedy and go all the way to Lanai! So I made a reservation.
When I went to the reception counter with my voucher, it was easy to board the boat. It was a beautiful ship, and I didn't notice any unusual smells (like heavy oil?). My friend was worried about seasickness and took some medicine, but it might not have been necessary. On the way back, they didn't take any and slept soundly.
We sat outside on the second floor. If the weather is nice, be careful of sunburn! We saw whales and dolphins, and the beautiful sea, sky, clouds, and breeze felt wonderful. For lunch on Lanai, we had loco moco, saimin, and freshly baked bread at Blue Ginger—so delicious!
I recommend bringing a cooler bag with drinks and snacks and wearing your swimsuit for a fabulous day on the island!
I purchased a round-trip ticket and, after arriving on the island, took a shuttle bus to the town center for some exploration and lunch. After that, I got off at Flobob Beach near the port on the return bus, enjoyed the beach, and walked about five minutes to the port to catch the ferry back. It can be quite inconvenient without a car, but I managed to enjoy the town and the beach. There isn't much to see in the town, but the beach is beautiful and nice.
You can make a reservation online in advance, and just show the voucher issued at that time at the dock! Once you receive your ticket and board the boat, you can sit wherever you like. They will come around to check tickets after departure! They were also very accommodating with time changes.
The quiet beaches of Lanai! There were plenty of fish! With many birds around, the lush Lanai City has a warm atmosphere. There was a little mishap where I couldn't find the shuttle bus stop for the return trip and missed it, but another bus driver, knowing the situation, kindly gave me a free ride to Manele Harbor.
Please make sure to visit the aloha-filled island of Lanai!
I wish that the people on the phone would have alerted us that the lodge at Koele was closed to have us make a decision if we wanted to go to the island or not. Maybe it was left out of the discussion on purpose.
Warm Aloha,
We are sorry to hear that the Four Seasons Resort Lanai, The Lodge at Koele was unavailable during your visit, and due to the ever changing nature of hotels and activities throughout the islands, we are not always made aware of specific closures. Had we known about this, we would have been more than happy to let you know.
Thank you very much for you choosing HawaiiActivities - VELTRA, and we hope that you were able to enjoy your visit to island of Lanai.

The ferry ride was fun. We went to the beach for awhile and then visited the small town. It was a very friendly town with such nice people. It was a great day trip!
Clean ferry and comfortable. Boarding was fast and departure was on time. Very rough ride of 45 minutes. If I knew it would be so scary, I would never have left Maui.
We took the ferry from Maui to Lanai for a day. It was a good ferry rid in the morning but it was a little shaky in the evening due to the ocean. Lanai is a very small place. "What happens in Lanai stays in Lanai and it can happen twice", said the Lanai people.
The ferry boat is clean, roomy and the crew is ready to assist. It was well worth the money.
The expedition ship was comfortable. The seats on the deck can sway a bit, so I recommend indoor seats on the first floor for those who are prone to seasickness.
I took the first morning trip and was able to see the sunrise, which was lovely. Since I went in February, I also spotted whales jumping in the distance.
Because it was winter, the waves in Full Poi Bay were strong, and I couldn't enjoy snorkeling much, but the lunch at Four Seasons was exquisite, and I spent a lovely time with a great view.
I was looking forward to seeing dolphins, but it seems they had come late the previous evening and didn't show up in the morning. They often appear in the morning and around 4:00 PM.
After getting off the boat, there is a shuttle bus to Lanai City, and I decided to check it out. However, it costs $25 for a round trip, and in the morning, nothing was open, so there was nothing to see. I felt a bit deceived, but there's nothing I can do about it.
It might have been better during the day. If you're going in winter, it might be better to go not on the first morning trip but to stay from around noon to the evening.
The Ferry was clean, the staff was well organized and we sat in the shaded air conditioned area upstairs as we didn't need any more direct sunlight. The return time is flexible and we liked touring the top up Lanai as it is more of an alpine experience than we expected for Hawaii. We had lunch at a very nice little diner and the wife bought a painting from a local artist - All in all a good, enjoyable day and an alternative to being on Maui all week long.
amazing trip, recommend to everyone, fast and safety, will do it again
excellent, recommend to everyone, fast and safety, will do it again
This is a great inexpensive way to experience another island in Hawaii. The trip is only 45 minutes and the view is amazing. The staff is friendly and the boat is clean with comfortable seating.
On time. Great trip. Definitely recommended. Lana'i was great.
This was a great hop from Maui to Lanai and we had the added benefit of seeing several whales along the way over and a school of dolphins playing alongside the ferry on the trip back. We'd do it again!
The ride to Lanai was nice, great view. Not much to do once you get there. We stayed at the beach, did not go into town. The ride back was Very choppy. I have never felt sea sick before, even ate ginger candy.
Ferry ride was nice, fun at times with the waves. Beautiful view. Beaches in Lanai gorgeous. Good service. Not much to do in Lanai City. Most of the Restaurants there, which are not too many, close really early. We were lucky to be able to have a late lunch at one of them, cant recall the name, and the food was delicious.
An enjoyable boat ride, sit back and enjoy the scenery, maybe you'll see a humpback whale. If it's rough you might want Dramamine, I don't see any cautionary statements like that; but we've seen people get sea sick on other boats. The day we crossed it was calm and we had a nice passage. Staff was friendly and professional.
My family took this ferry between the islands. I was honestly wondering how the kids were going to behave on the trip, never having taken them on a ferry before...and knowing full well how crazy airplane travels usually are for us...I have to admit their was some hesitation on my part.
But the kids loved it...and it was really a short trip...done before they even had a chance to get grouchy or fidgety too much.
Added to the relatively short duration, were the views from the water that always gave us all something pretty to look at from all sides. A hassle free way to get between islands.
The ferry to Lanai was great. The trip over in the morning was relatively smooth. Coming home, however, at 4:30 p.m., was a wild ride! Very choppy, huge swells, but actually a lot of fun! That is if you weren't sitting on the side of the boat that got drenched with each swell...A group of people sitting next to us said that you could have charged extra for the roller coaster ride! haha As we pulled into the harbor at Lahaina we were blessed with a gorgeous double rainbow!
We had a great time and because of the trip we will book a trip to stay at the Koele and the Manele for a couple of days along with Maui.
