Before the luau show, we took a tram tour around the park, which featured various themed gardens and was quite spacious.
As for the food, I would say it was just average.
The main show included not only Hawaiian performances but also dances representing Polynesia, China, and Japan, which added a unique twist. However, for those who are repeat visitors to Hawaii and have seen other luau shows around Waikiki, it might feel a bit lacking. I was expecting Hawaiian and Tahitian hula, so I found it somewhat unsatisfying.
That said, the fire dance was definitely exciting, and if you're visiting Kauai, I think it's worth seeing this luau at least once. It's one of the few nighttime entertainment options in Kauai.
After the show, there are opportunities to take photos with the dancers, but I didn't have a chance to do that here. I ended up buying the photo they took when we entered for $20.

I would highly recommend this to everyone of all ages! The staff was very nice, pleasent, and funny. The dinner was excellent! and the entertainment was just awesome! It was put together very nicely, I especially liked the way they did the one table at a time. avoided a rush to the tables, there was plenty of food to go around so no one had to miss out on everything. I even tried poi for the first time! The pork, OMG it is one of the best tasting pig I have ever had in my life! melted in your mouth! Everything was great. I can guarantee if I'm lucky enough to go back to Kauai I will do that again! I don't have any pictures developed yet or I would show them. :)

We enjoyed this luau a lot. We've been to several luaus on Oahu, but the ground where this luau sits is just so pretty. They have a tram that goes around the property, and we even fed peacocks that roam around freely. We even saw a local wedding that was taking place.
The foods were really good, and we definitely enjoyed their open bar. We had 3, 4 of their mai tai drinks, and they made it just perfect. Foods were great so were the entertainment during the show.
Although we enjoyed the show, I thought they could improve it a little more. It was cool to see dances from non-Polynesian countries such as Japan, China and Philippines, but they could add more story line to the whole show instead of presenting it like a mix-plate. The fire knife dance was pretty good, and everyone was in awe.
All in all, I highly recommend this luau if you go to Kauai. You will have a good time for sure.

I felt the grounds were lacking a bit. Kauai is much more beautiful than this tropical paradise. Been to another luau few years back and much better than this. The dancers were fabulous but felt some of the show lacked authenticity, sorta felt like everyone else was tired of it all.

Such friendly, happy people, and fun for all age groups (30-63). We brought our group pic home and hung it up on the wall, a truly good time!
Thank you Smith's Tropical Paridise Luau!! We will be back some time soon, we all hope.

I chose Smith's Tropical Luau because I had read some previous reviews and one reviewer stated they had been to a different luau every night and Smith's was the best. I was a passenger on the NCL Pride of America and the reviews for that luau were not good and I hate nasty food. So I chose Smith's for myself and my party and let me tell you, we were not dissapointed. First of all and probably the best thing was it was not as expensive as the other luau, next the food was great everything was very good (except the purple sweet potato, it was too dry and tasteless). The staff was great, they kept coming around asking if everything was okay. Also, there was a large crowd there, maybe 500 people maybe more, but everything ran smooth and efficiently. When we arrived we were escorted to a tram that took us for a narrated tour of the plantation and it was beautiful. Then we went into the large lanai to be seated for eating. Some went to watch the roasted pig taken out of the place whe

Smith's Tropical Paradise Luau takes place on the family's 36 acre tropical paradise. Beforehand, guests are invited to stroll the gardens, see the lagoons, and pet the peacocks or can be driven around the grounds via tram with commentary on the variety of trees, flowers, and other vegetation.
Conch shells are blown, and the ceremonies commence with the uncovering of the pig, known as the "Imu Ceremony." A huge buffet with delicious shredded pork, salads, rice, breads, fruit, desserts and open full bar follow as you listen to native island songs performed by the Smith family.
An elaborate after dinner show follows at sunset in the open air theater. Hula dancers, fire dancers, and others display native island dances from as far away as New Zealand and China for your enjoyment.
Smith's Tropical Paradise Luau is not to be missed! It is a way to sample true island culture complete with the welcoming Hawaiian spirit that makes Kauai so unique!

This was mine, my kids & their Godmother's first trip to the Hawaiian Islands. I must say from conversations I had while visiting, it was the right decision to make this the first island to visit. I figured we would break up our vacation by going to the Luau on Wednesday (did the cruise on Tuesday, loved it as well). This was the best decision, because this was the best part of our vacation. I felt like I had the Hawaiin experience after the tour, the emu, feast and luau. MAGNIFICENT!!!. I can't imagine why this event is only showing an overall 3.xxx rating. I would like to give it a 10 if I could.
Mahalo to the Smith Family for such an entertaining experience! I'll be back, someday, somehow...

We have visited most of the Hawaian islands and attended many Luau's, but this one was the best by far. The grounds were awsome, the food & drinks were incredable and the entertainment was the best. We loved the covered eating area and show. It rained several times while we were there and never got wet.
Another thing we liked was the trams that took you from the check in on a nice tour of the gardens then even took you back to the parking lot after the show when it was dark.
IT WAS THE BEST!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this event - it wasn't only a Luau, but you learned of the culture, flora, and food. The food was OUTSTANDING! The hosts gave a thorough description of the foods, and how to eat them. The pig was very juicy, and salted to perfection. And even though the Poi was bland (as it should be), it had a distinctive and very interesting taste that perked our senses. The free mai-tais didn't hurt either! : )
The show ran a bit longer than we expected, but after a few drinks, it may have just seemed longer. The quality of dance, special effects, and entertainment was high, and the fire dude rocked the house (one of the best we've seen).
Mahalo Smith's!

Spectacular setting! I've been to many luaus before and this one has the best scenery. Well organized and excellent food! I was slightly disappointed in the show as it was lower energy than others I've attended. I didn't like the way they captured ALL the cultures (Chinese, Japanese, Phillipines) as I felt it brought the energy of the entire show down and removed itself from being "Hawaiian". Over all though - we had a great time.

The entertainment during dinner was continuious. We even had a couple get engaged after the hula class. Very sweet. The bar service was fast and the special drinks well prepared.
