On Ishigaki Island, I experienced stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) among the mangroves and snorkeling in the ocean filled with coral reefs. While paddling slowly along the calm river, I was able to feel the nature of the mangroves up close, which was very soothing. At first, it was a bit challenging to maintain my balance, but the staff kindly taught me how to ride and gave me tips, allowing me to enjoy it with peace of mind.

This was my first time snorkeling; got to see a whale shark (jinbei) and made it back alive because Tom’s instructions were clear and helpful. Tom is also an avid sea life photographer; his photos are better than anything I could have taken.

We had to change our snorkeling plans to Waiwai Beach due to high waves and winds at Shinjo Coast, but we were able to see adorable sea turtles right in front of us, and the beautiful fish swimming around the coral reefs exceeded our expectations.
