Check-in at Waihole Nursery & Garden Center
After your check-in, secure your kayaks to the roof of your car, and make your way to He’eia Kea Boat Harbor. There is ample parking available, and an easy walk to the kayak launch area. Secure any belongings onto your kayak, and once you are ready to go, simply push off and start paddling!
Paddle across Kaneohe Bay, and enjoy the serene beauty of Oahu's windward east shore. Depending on your previous kayaking experience and how quickly you can paddle, it will take approximately an hour to reach the nearest sandbar, but there is no rush as you paddle and glide along the way.
Once you arrive at the Kaneohe Bay Sandbar, feel free to swim and snorkel, or even just walk across the raised sandy formation beneath the ocean's surface. It is an amazing experience to be able to walk in the middle of the ocean, and there are ample photo and video opportunities during your visit.
Be sure to keep track of the time, and allow yourself enough time to return to the harbor. As you paddle, take the opportunity to soak in the warm Hawaiian sun and tropical breezes as the only sound is the paddle splashing as it goes through the water on your way back to He’eia Kea Boat Harbor.
Remove the kayak from the launch, and secure it once more on your vehicle before you head back to Waihole Nursery & Garden Center. Your day at Kaneohe Bay will come to and end with an easy check-out and equipment return.

Meet Active Oahu Staff at Waihole Nursery and Garden Center. The delivery driver will have your kayaks and gear all set and ready to go. After that, drive to the kayak launch location at He’eia Kea Boat Harbor (10-minute drive).
You will be launching the kayaks into Kaneohe Bay from the harbor and using the public parking at the harbor for your vehicle.Nearby landmarks
