A Lot Of Fun!

Reviewed by: Gary, 2013/02/06

This was my first time to Hawaii and a luau. I read the reviews of the luaus available on Oahu and chose Paradise Cove. We enjoyed a beautiful ocean sunset, good food and great entertainment. I would come back and would recommend the Paradise Cove luau.

Good Luau

Reviewed by: Mr. Anonymous, 2012/07/16

As we have done a couple Luaus before I knew what to expect. This is a pretty good one - their location is fantastic - much better than Germaine's. And really loved the Hawaiian activities before the dinner. The food and drinks were average though. The drinks at Germaine's were a lot stronger. This Luau was also a little more restrained - better for families and older couples? Germaine's was a lot more fun and relaxed.

A Night to Remember

Reviewed by: Heather, 2012/04/01

Honestly, I hardly remember the actual luau. My boyfriend somehow managed to get me on stage and proposed to me in front of hundreds of people. The whole staff was in on it. I was called up as the winner of a raffle drawing! And when I thought they were bringing out my prize, out comes my boyfriend with a microphone! The whole crowd was very involved, from telling him to "Get on your knee!" to begging me to "Say yes!" They laughed, they awwed, they cheered. It was amazing. Unfortunately, I spent the rest of the show making phone calls telling everyone in my life the news. I will definitely be returned to the Paradise Cove Luau so that I can actually enjoy the full show!

Paradise Cove Luau

Reviewed by: Mr. Anonymous, 2011/07/30

The luau was good. The only thing I would suggest is to not have the people waiting outside so before getting on the bus. The temperature outside was already hot and then the heat from the bus's engine made it worst. We waited outside the bus for 45 minutes before we could get on.

There was too much going on. We were standing in the lines to do the crafts before we realized that the main events were going on elsewhere. Not sure how we were supposed to know what was going on, but I feel like we missed a lot. Food was good and the main show after dinner was good.

Enjoyable Night Of Luau

Reviewed by: Ron Gurtiza, 2011/04/16

You get lei'd and you get a welcome drink and your picture taken with a hula dancer. You get to do activities like how to make a lei and get your picture taken while you are ona canoe ride. Then you get a little bit of Polynesian history of how to get and break a coconut, how the old hawaiians catch fish, and the many different ways to wear a sarong. Then everyone gathers in the Imu Stadium where you see the unveiling of the slow cooked wrapped in Ti leaves, Kahlua Pig from the pit. Then they sit you down for a delicious luau feast. And you can asks for 2nds and 3rds. Then concluding night of an hour long fantastic entertaining show of music, hula dancing and a Samoan fire dance. It is located in Ko Olina. Fabulous ocean views and sunset. Do not forget your camera! Alooooooooooha!

Great Luau experience

I went to Polynissian culture center last year, and I choose to paradise cove this time. I have to recommand this warm, friendly, delightful environment that not only provided me good foods, but also great entertainment!
The drink was great too. Even with the cheapest ticket, I still got two free alcohol drinks.
It was awesome to see sunset on the beautiful beach and interesting shows at the same time.
I enjoyed paradice cove a lot, it's a good place to go if you like unique place to enjoy luau and Hawaiian cultures.

xmas Luai

Reviewed by: AndyV, 2010/12/11

This was our second time attending the Paradise Cove Luai. It was nice seeing, hearing, and experiencing a Christmas theme to the evening. Two items, the evening seemed rushed, there was not enough time between activities to truely enjoy the evening - our bus arrived, dropped us off, and the race was on... we did not get to participate in all of the pre-show activities. The second was the food was okay, but not what I would consider great - which is why the value rating dropped to so-so.

Fun but felt rushed.

Reviewed by: UtahMommy, 2010/10/03

This luau was really fun and I am glad we chose it over the PCC so we could have the real mai tai's! Our guide (cousin Kahale) was a hoot! He made the trip so enjoyable and deserves a raise. We got stuck in traffic so it took forecer to get there and then we were rushed to try and do the activities which were just hum drum to begin with. But the absolutely stunning scenery on the beach where it is located is to die for and made up for the lack of interest in activities. I enjoyed the food and the show very much and would defiantely go back and take the whole family.

mediocre...

Reviewed by: Lyn Ann, 2010/09/12

A bit overrated and touristy, im a vegetarian who does eat seafood but there were no vegetarian options so veggies beware as you;ll be stuck only eating salad, activities sound a lot more interesting on paper then in person, consists of a 2 second canoe ride in a circle near the shore, throwing a stick at a bale of hay, someone making you a flower bracelet, and throwing a wooden thing and a stone against a board, the actual luau dance was pretty good and the fire dance was amazing, dinner should be served sooner and the real entertainment should start earlier, the bus took forever to get there and your free mai tai just tastes like juice and no alcohol. drinks were way overpriced but is nice that your ticket includes 3 free drinks but our quite small and they loor people into buying bigger ones for 3 dollars each so they make the money back. all in all it was good to experience it for my first time but it was very unauthentic and cheesy to us.

Monday evening Luau

Reviewed by: Married 13 years, 2010/07/23

We had a wonderful time. There were a lot of children there and the staff used quite a lot of sexual innuendo so I would not take my children. Was not crowded. We got to do quite a few of the activities and crafts which was fun. I felt pampered and the night was romantic. The pork is out of this world. Pleanty of food. Music and dancing were fabulous.

Note:get to know your camera and practice taking photos at dusk with moving images. Otherwise when you get home your photos willl be all blurry.

nice experience

Reviewed by: jeannette, 2010/06/25

Going to a luau is something everyone should do at least once. Paradise cove is beautiful and the staff very friendly. The "games" are not impressive, but give you something to do. The show is good. The food is good but not labeled, so try everything. Did not like most of the native dishes, but the pork and chicken were excellent. The drinks are poured in front of you, shots measured and often generous. Unless you are a drinker, I would not say they are watered down. You can purchase bigger, "better" drinks as well. (i didn't need to.) Had the standard package and would not bother with more expensive packages, seats are all good and buffet lines move quickly and plenty of food. Bring small bills for tips. I would recommend this activity to family and friends. Some small children there, ok for kids.

Pay attention to conch announcement

Reviewed by: Mr. Anonymous, 2010/03/23

Enjoyed the evening with our family of 3 teenagers. We played the games and felt encouraged by the staff, did the hula, watched most of the shows. However, we missed the main ceremony because we were doing something else at the time. They had the conch shell sound for each event but did not verbally announce it therefore we missed it which was disappointing. The food and dinner show were wonderful. We drove ourselves and the place was easy to find.

Quality

Reviewed by: sparky, 2009/11/10

The Laua is a special Hawaiian treat. It is an event that everyone should experience for the feel of the islands. The personnel was terrific, and met the quality standards we expected. The performers after dinner were Frist Class. They should be visited by many for just the pure ability of their craft. The women were beautiful, and very nice afterward to have photos etc. We have attended before and the quality is the best.

Had a good time

Reviewed by: Susuna, JD, 2009/10/07

This was our first luau and it was fun, lots of activities to do prior to dinner and the main shows. Staff was all very friendly. Only that kinda sucked was that it started raining on us and it wasnt until the 3rd pour down that they began to hand out ponchos, so i guess i would recommend to bring an umbrella because all festivities do occur outdoors! Other than that, food was delicious, show was fun, staff was friendly, drinks were stiff, and there was plenty to do!!!! Would most definately recommend.

great experience

Reviewed by: monica, 2009/09/11

Had a lot of fun. Becca was a blast! She entertained us all the way there and back. I was expecting the food to taste better. The only food I truely enjoyed was the pig, which is surprising because I don't eat pork. I decided that I was not going to pass up the opportunity to taste this as it was prepared under ground. The show was great! I enjoyed all the dancers and different ceremonies throughout the evening.
