Reviewed by: Remy, 2021/07/01First time taking the Surf Bus. Driver was on time. He was knowledgeable. Didn't like his attitude at first because he had a way of making you feel foolish but at the end, he turned out to be a nice guide. My family and I did the waterfall hike and kayaking. The waterfall hike was timed for three hours. It was a beautiful hike through Waimea Valley seeing tropical plants and birds. To my surprise, the waterfall was smaller than I thought. There were too many people swimming already and it was only 10am. My kids did not want to swim because of the amount of people in the water. Even after the hike, and the waterfall and even ate lunch at the cafe, three hours was too much. It could've been spent doing other activities. We went kayaking in the afternoon. My family enjoyed that even though we didn't see any turtles. We were disappointed that we couldn't walk to town and get shaved ice because the line was too long. All in all, my family had a decent time.

Expectations...
Reviewed by: -PAUL-, 2016/01/11I mentioned this before on the phone. This was fun, but was only able to do one activity. Unfortunately the ad misleads you into thinking you can do whatever activities, whenever. You are allowed to swim, snorkel, bike ride or hike in the morning. Then you can either surf(which you cant cause it will cost you more when you never did it, apparently you have to take a lesson before using their boards), kayak, or stand up paddleboard in the afternoon. It just was a disappointment to have an expectaion of what to get for my day, then not do it. In other words, two spereate locations for the morning and afternoon activities, so majority of your time is traveling. Which is fine, but also would of have a different opinion. Knowing what i know now, i probably would never choosen this activity.
I missed the bus to go to the afternoon location, needless to say i was given the wrong time by tourist, but honsestly by the time i got there, i was out of time. One thing that is odd is the memory game, being dropped off somwhere and being picked up elsewhere. However, the people that works at the snorkel rental place, especially that young kid, clueless to his surroundings. Knew who i was & i who else i was there with in regards of the other party on the tour bus & couldnt inform me of the other party making it back. So knowing the time i had to be picked up, this kid not being observant and missing the bus is all my fault, right? So thanks for that! I had to wait for the city bus to pick me up to find out where the tour bus was to get back on it.
All in all, i only did one activity and did a lot of sitting & waiting around. Snorkeling was fun, but was my excitement was short lived with the turmoil. I had fun snorkeling, and thats about it. Oh yeah, dont worry, ill take care of that bus fare!

Guide
Reviewed by: Kristen Olthuis, 2014/11/02My husband and I were disappointed with the tour guide. We felt he had a attitude about him and really didn't want to be there. At times we thought he was being rude in his manor and attitude. We went on another tour and the guide was so different and really acted like he wanted to be there. It made a big difference on the tour and made it much more enjoyable. The tour itself was great, but it could of been a lot nicer if the guide was more interested in the people on his bus and what he was doing.

Not a cater to you activity
Reviewed by: Mr. Anonymous, 2011/04/07We thought we could hike to the waterfall and then go snorkeling. From what I had read that would be a possibility. Both were morning options. He parked centrally then we walked to meet him. For the price I should not have expected to be taken to each destination I suppose, but I did. Still we had a good time and swimming in the waterfall was GREAT

The beach part was great not "hike"
Reviewed by: Mr. Anonymous, 2008/06/16The description of the Falls "hike" should be reworded to "casual stroll". All the interesting parts that might be qualified as hikes were barred as off limits for falling rock or just closed off. Also, the change in elevation was laughable. It was more like going to a park.
The waterfall actually had water, but not enough water yet for swimming, which was teh main point of it. That part was very underwhelming.
The snorkeling on teh beach was great. Amazing area and great knowledgeable staff/tour guides. highly recommend that part.

We are sorry you got the pick up times mixed up and were forced to catch a city bus to catch up , therefore missing your second activity. Normally we have other drivers on the North Shore and could have expatiated things so sorry for that too.PLEASE GIVE US A FUTURE DATE TO COMP YOU THE TOUR SO WE CAN SHOW YOU WHAT ITS REALLY LIKE.
P.S; FOR SAFTEY REASONS SURFING IS THE ONLY ACTIVITY WHICH IF YOU HAVE NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE WE REQUIRE YOU DO A LESSON. Those with some prior experience may surf with our basic package pricing.
