Different experience

A fantastic experience ... but
Reviewed by: MerlinsEgo, 2018/04/06First, allow me to emphasize just how professional and engaged the divers, driver and the captain was on this experience. Seriously these guys were fantastic .. they were always attentive, showed understanding and you felt in very capable hands the whole time. This aspect was important to my wife as she had some very serious apprehensions about doing this ..but being a dutiful husband I badgered her until she agreed :-) .. took a few weeks.
The pre-trip meeting answered any questions we had and explained the workings of the submersible in terms of engaging the motor .. but nothing in regards to steering the vessel which i thought interesting.
We had a big group of approx 20 people so we just all fitted on the small boat. The seas were a little rough so a few people got a little woozy but nothing too bad.
My wife and I were one of the first to try out the scooters and the process to get in them was simple and effective .. no diving underwater to get in them .. this was a relief to my wife. We were in the water almost immediately and already could see fish in the distance. So we were very excited !
Here is where i was a little disappointed .. we had been trained to use foot pedals to engage the motor for the propellor but mine seemed to be a much older model and had the button on the steering column. No big deal i guess except i had an underwater camera with me and hence could not use it while the motor was engaged, which is approx 80% of the time. Consequently i was unable to take many photos .. disappointed.
I now understood why we were not taught the steering of the submersible ..you don't steer it ..there is a diver that holds onto 2 of the vessels the whole time and steers it. This was disappointing as i had no control on where to go.
In summary this was a FANTASTIC experience and again i want to emphasize how good the divers and crew were .. BUT it felt more like an amusement park ride than what the marketing suggests.

I'm glad I have done it
Reviewed by: Jindriska , 2018/01/17Originally I was very scared as I don't like to put my head under the water. I signed up just because my grown up daughter wanted to try that. I was a bit out of breath at the beginning as I dived in to the helmet, but soon as I calmed down, it was incredible. I was even able to touch the gorgeous big turtle. But I was able to have this great experience only thanks to my assigned diver, who directed me so well. So thank you ever so much xx

Beautiful Experience
Reviewed by: Phanesh, 2017/04/12You are super close to the fishes under the water and you can see a lot of variety of them and I even saw 4 turtles from a close distance.
The staff are very friendly and gives you good guidance on every step of the activity.
The only drawback is the time underwater was only 15 minutes and when you are which flew by very quickly.
Note: You don't need to know how to swim to do this activity.

Fun morning
Reviewed by: D & J, 2017/01/21Was lots of fun - the divers/guides with us were great. Only negative was that it was a little choppy on the day and my husband ended up getting seasick while waiting for others to complete their turn. This though ended up a positive as it helped with bringing more fish closer to the boat! Next time we would be more prepared and take seasick tablets beforehand. Also I had tried scuba diving in the past and had problems "equalizing", thus could not move far from the diving platform. The underwater scooter experience has helped me overcome my previous fears of underwater adventures. An awesome time was had despite the seasickness.

Bob underwater experience

Friendly bunch
Reviewed by: Dave, 2015/07/31Good time was had by all. If you don't have good sea legs, the captain may allow you to snorkel around the boat weather permitting. Be prepared to wait for others to have their turn, but you can see the fish whilst waiting as they are used to come up for feeding. The team were friendly and well organised (expect to tip at the end), good activity, although it doesn't top scuba diving.

Wonderful, but short, experience
Reviewed by: Lars D, 2011/09/26I'm not comfortable with normal scuba gear, so this was a good way to be able to get under the water and see the marine life off Hawaii.
The scooters were not fast, but that is due to safety.
Everyone gets a diver that looks after them and can go under with their partner/friend. I always felt I was in good hands.
The experience lasted 20 minutes, which is not much. But to allow several people to go down without using several days, one doesn't have a choice. One would always want more time with something that is enjoyable.
A bit pricey, but safety costs, and the value was everything considered, not bad.

Adventure of a Lifetime

The BOB offered them the opportunity to experience the ocean and its inhabitants without knowing how to swim. They were truly overjoyed with their experience under water. We were all a bit concerned, at first, with the staff who didn't interact well with customers but once everyone experienced the BOB they began to interact more with customers.

Unique Experience
Reviewed by: Mr. Anonymous, 2010/07/10This was a unique experience and is a great way to get underwater if you are afraid to scuba dive or want to try something other than skorkel.
The only downside was the service was a bit below par compared with some of the other services we were getting. They were not rude, but definitely not that friendly. They acted like they didn't want to be there and seemed to rush everything. The exception is the young man, who appears to be Hawaiian. He took interest and appeared to enjoy his job.

Awesome
Reviewed by: Snickerpoodle, 2010/06/21You don't even get your hair wet, and fish swim right up to you and pick at the bread in your hand. You breathe normally. You can see them perfectly clearly and they come to you. This was really fun. Then you can snorkel around the boat while the other people take their turns, in couples, riding the little underwater scooters. Don't do this if you're prone to seasickness. But if you don't want the hassle of SCUBA, this is the best way to be underwater with the bright little fish.

BOB was fun

I was very disappointed with the cost of the photos. Even when the instructor tried to barter with me and cut the cost in half, it was still an outrageous price for a Cd that cost pennies to produce. If they were actual photos the price is still rediculous.

Very Cool
Reviewed by: Joshua, 2008/03/08Since I am not a scuba diver and the most snorkeling I have done was in my pool I would have to say this was a great experience. I took my three children ages 17,16, and 13. They had a wonderful time. The staff was nice. Having the fish each out of our hands was awesome. We even saw a huge turtle. Either before or after you go in the BOB you can snorkel around the boat. This was cool too. I wish I could have taken my underwater camera but they take great pictures with their camera for you. Of course there is charge to get a disc of the photos. The one down side is when we got home we were given the wrong photos. So be sure to ask them to double check before you leave. They are sending me the right one in the mail. Still overall this is a great experience for those who can't scuba dive yet.
