Maui to Molokai - Adventure Ferry & Tours (from Lahaina Harbor)

Crew was very attentive to those who were getting motion sickness, the trip was interesting and fun!

I have mixed feelings about this trip. It was super easy to check in with very pleasant people. Surprisingly, we were given a breakfast to eat on our journey (coffee was sold below deck). The seating on the top deck w...as great--beautiful views. Late in the trip it was a little rough, requiring those of us with queasy stomachs to seek medication. We were met at the Molokai Harbor with a van ready to take us to our rental car at the airport. Picking up the rental was a snap--they were already for us with our mini van instead of a car, as requested. Touring Molokai was easy with the map they gave us as well as using our phones. It would be really hard to get lost there. The drop off and ride back to the harbor was also easy....they were very clear, don't be late or you'll miss the only return ferry. Now for the bad part. The water going back was rough (not the fault of the ferry company, obviously) but about 30 - 45 minutes from docking, one of the ferry workers came up and said the captain said they had to close the top deck (where we sat to avoid the diesel fumes and extra sea sickness). Then he left us to make our way downstairs. Because the waters were choppy and because it was very windy, making our way from the chairs to the railings was truly hazardous. I slipped and almost fell to the deck. My husband was shoved into the railing, actually causing a bruise. Going down the steps was hazardous, requiring each of us to hold onto another plus the ferry worker. Once below deck, the diesel fumes were awful. there were at least three people using the sea sick bags. Why didn't they either move us earlier, when it wasn't windy, rough and wet, or wait for us to dock? Because of this experience, I lowered my overall score.

we arrived and greeted with our packet and lovely breakfast of fresh fruit and muffin. the adventure began with ferry ride, if you enjoy wind, water and views use the top open deck. Waters were rough and wild, so you wi...ll get wet. our Alamo car agent met us and several others at dock and drove us to airport (where the cars are)but was a travel guide pointing out points of interest. This takes time so be patient (it is Molokai so SLOW down) about an hour later we had a car, a map and set out for an enjoyable day of touring and Murphy' s beach for snorkeling. People are friendly, food was great . try Ohno fish food trailer in town, they were out of fried shrimp but the shrimp tacos and fish and chips were killer. try the dole swirl at airport gift shop while waiting to catch ride back to ferry. note.. if you have a group drop them off at baggage pick up along with what you brought and bought before dropping off car or yo will be carrying all of it aross the parking lots back to baggage claim when you drop off car (no transport). Ride back was quite the ride with large swells and white caps but the captain greg of the ferry did a great job of guiding us through. thank captain Greg
