A Wonderful Experience and Way to See Kauai
Reviewed by: California tourists , 2023/09/25Kevin picked us up at our hotel on time and spent the day showing us the west and south sides of Kauai. He gave us lessons in pronouncing Hawaiian words, the geology of Kauai, and history of Kauai, while driving from viewpoint to viewpoint. He was sensitive to what we were interested in and what types of food we wanted for lunch. We were impressed that he understood the weather patterns, kept a constant watch on the clouds, and was able to get us to the Waimea Canyon and Na Pali coast viewpoints at times when we could see the views.
We had a most enjoyable day and would highly recommend tour guide Kevin and The Ultimate Kauai Private Island Tour - South and West tour.

Ultimate Kauai Private Island Tour with Expert Guide
It struggled to be too comprehensive.
Reviewed by: John, 2023/09/09My wife and I had taken guided tours before mainly in the Carribean. On those tours, we stopped for various activities: touring a ruin, lunch on the beach, and a hike through a rainforest. Our guide, Kevin, did an excellent job trying to show us everything (and finding restrooms). The fault was not in the guide but in the attempted scope of the tour. It was six hours of driving and stopping for photos and then more driving. For instance, there were two waterfalls on the tour: One (twin falls) in the great distance and the other along the roadside (blink and you would miss it). It would be better if we could be taken to the trailhead and allowed to hike close to the falls. Or maybe with some preplanning, we could have swum at one of the beaches we stopped at. Although my wife and I are in our 60s and 70s, we are both very active. It was an introduction to the Island but we were exhausted at the end of the six hours.

Wonderful tour

She told us history of the island and suggestions on things to do during our stay. When our kids were getting tired and a bit cranky, she went out and got them water and popsicles. This tour was the highlight of our trip!

Good overview of part of the island - wish we had more time in Waimea Canyon
Reviewed by: Alex, 2023/05/29We enjoyed the tour overall but wish we had more time and one or two more stops around the Waimea Canyon. The tour takes in a few different spots across Kauai, but the real highlight is the Canyon. So it's a shame to only get a few different opportunities to stop and take photos. The tour picked us up and dropped us off promptly, and our guide Rosario told us a bit about the island and it's history, which we liked. The lunch provided was better than we expected. If we had the chance again, we would drive to the Waimea Canyon itself to explore it independently. If we had to take a tour again, we would consider this one as we felt overall it was good, if not perfect.

Superb tour!
Reviewed by: LammyP, 2023/05/21We thoroughly enjoyed this sightseeing tour, with driver & guide, Kaleo. He was helpful, informative and hilarious! Stories, quips and jokes all day long. We even learned how to pronounce "humuhumunukunukuapua`a"! We saw some highlights of the beautiful island of Kaua`i including the spouting horn blow hole and we were lucky enough to get a clear view of the waimea canyon, before the clouds rolled in! We had a tasty lunch at chicken in a barrell and sampled delicious coffee at the Kaua`i coffee plantation. The trail at the state park is very short and the order of the stops is different to that listed on the veltra site, but regardless we would 100% recommend this tour.

Breath Taking Views, Relaxing Ride & Delicious Lunch!
Reviewed by: Yuchen, 2023/02/23This tour was exactly what we were looking for a full day of sight seeing, lunch and no effort on our part!!
What we experienced:
- Pick Up - we got picked up at 7:30 in the morning by the shuttle and then it went to many other hotels to pick up other passengers. Your time will vary depending on where your hotel is.
- Sights - we got to see all the sights listed on the itinerary including some extras at the beach. We saw the Monk Sealions and Turtles at the beach and that was a bonus treat! The pit stops were the perfect amount of time to hop out to take photos, enjoy the sight and then move on.
- Waimea Canyon - lots of different view points - we got to see it from all around. There was PLENTY of picture ops. This was really a hop on hop off photo tour. So don't expect any hikes or long walks. What I loved is I never had to worry about the parking situation, paying park fees, or the driving obviously. It's perfect for anyone without a car or for cruise go-ers. Even though we had a car rental, I didn't regret not having to do this drive myself. I got to nap on the way back because even though I didn't hike, it still was a long day.
- Lunch - The food exceeded my expectations after reading the reviews (I'm sure the bad experiences were during Covid times). We had huge chicken portions and it was seasoned well and cooked well. The plantation that we ate at was beautiful and relaxing so we enjoyed the lunch break a lot.
- Coffee plantation tour - nice pit stop that we wouldn't have made on our own but enjoyed the op to tag along on this tour.
Our tour guide (so sorry for not remembering his name-Italian man from NJ originally) was great. He gave good history, good info all while he was driving. He had so much knowledge and good recommendations and really funny!!
The tour was exactly what we wanted to explore a large chunk of the island - no stress and no worry on our part.

Nice Adventure

We ended up going back to a couple sights on our own the next day. Jonna was friendly and answered our questions. The lunch wasn't very good by the time we got to eat it. (We picked it up to eat later) Maybe it depended on what you ordered. All in all a nice day and some fun sights.

Orlando was awesome
Reviewed by: Lee, 2022/01/01First, our driver/guide Orlando was simply amazing. He was quite knowledgeable and helpful. Orlando’s sense of humor kept us relaxed and laughing. Orlando picked us up right on time. We mentioned to him we would need frequent restroom stops. Not only was he accommodating but he was very picky about where he stopped being conscious of cleanliness. Speaking of cleanliness, our vehicle was spotless and very comfortable. We loved his guidance and took him to lunch. I cannot recommend this tour more highly. When you book, be sure to ask for Orlando!

Waimea Canyon and the south and west side sightseeing on/off tour with lunch!

We covered about 1/2 of the island Kauai from the south, the west, and the north side from about 9a-4p.The places we stopped were great and the were plenty of bathroom breaks! I did think there would be more hiking involved because of the description. There is a nature trail at Koke’e State Park that is nice. Our guide was a native Hawaiian with great stories to tell!
The shops in Hanapepe were fun to shop at! We loved the swinging bridge there! And, the stop at the coffee farm was great with amazing coffee to be taste tested and purchased. You could also see the coffee beans being grown on the trees! It was a fun trip!

Spent little time at main sights and hours waiting for food!
Reviewed by: NomadeYogini, 2021/09/04I had the worst experience on this tour, had to wait about an hour and a half for the driver to do a food pick up and then wasted an extra hour plus just idling at a pic nic site after everyone had finished eating their lunch, while we speeded through all the main sights and barely had time to take photos of the breathtaking Waimea Canyon!!!!! Poor timing would be an understatement. It was my last day on Kauai and wish I had found another tour company to see Waimena Canyon!

Perfect tour for a first visit to Kauai!

We settled for this as a way to see a lot of the main sights and it was the PERFECT way to spend the day! We had Kana’e (sp?) as our guide and she was absolutely a joy to spend the day with. She talked stories with us, shared her culture with us and told us all the places to go for our trip! The sights were gorgeous and we recommend this to anyone who is visiting for the first time!!

Excellent tour!
Reviewed by: John - NJ, 2021/08/06The tour was at an easy pace and covered the West side of the island concluding with spectacular views and vantage points of Waimea Canyon. Our driver Rosario was thorough with explanations, local trivia, and very personable to everyone. The pickup and drop offs from the hotels were punctual. The lunch was also good as were the local stops in Hanapepe and Waimea. Each stop including those of Waimea Canyon allowed for plenty of time to use the facilities, investigate the area, and take plenty of photos. The tour bus had plenty of space, and was air conditioned and comfortable. I would recommend this tour for any visitors to the Garden Isle!
