Join local guides on a kayak trip up the Huleia River. Learn about natural history and the culture of Kauai while paddling to a trail head on private land for a short but fun hiking experience. Stretch your legs on a walk through dense woods, finally arriving at a hidden waterfall where you'll be free to swim and play in the fresh water spilling over the cascade. Join your guides and other guests for a tasty picnic with a great view of the surrounding mountains, sharing your favorite parts of the adventure and letting the warm sunshine fill you up.

  • 08:30 Check-in at Da Life Outdoor Gear Shop
  • 08:45 Transport to Nawiliwili Boat Harbor (5 mins)
    Your guide will escort you to a nearby boat ramp and prepare you for the kayaking portion of the tour.
  • 08:50 2.5-Mile Kayak Trip (1.5 hrs)
    158919 Even if this is your first time kayaking, there's no need to worry. Your guide will help everyone master the basics and keep the group at a comfortable pace. A motor-powered safety boat will follow not far behind.
  • 10:20 Walk & Ride to Trail Head (10 mins)
    After disembarking from your kayak, vans will be waiting to carry you to the next leg of your journey.
  • 10:30 Short Trail Hike (15 min)
    Island Adventures 08 Passing through a forest rich in gauva, noni and other tropical fruit, your guide will share information about Kauai's lush environment and the cultures that developed there.
  • 10:50 Waterfall Swim (1 hr)
    Island Adventures 08 Papakolea Falls, often called "Dundee Falls" by the locals, is a 60-ft cascade tucked away from the rest of the world. Dip into the gathering pool below or slip behind its rushing wall of water for a totally Hawaiian experience.
  • 11:50 Picnic Lunch (1 hr)
    158920 Returning to a shaded area near the trail head, your guides will prepare a picnic-style lunch to enjoy as a group.
  • 12:50 Return to Da Life Outdoor Gear Shop (25 mins)

    • Guests with heart and cardiovascular issues are not permitted to participate in this activity.
    • Guests who are pregnant are not permitted to participate in this activity.
    • Guests with neck, back or joint problems are not permitted to participate in this activity.
    • This activity is not wheelchair accessible.
    • If less than 6 participants are booked, the activity may not operate.
    • Children 6 years old and above can participate in this activity.

    • Shoes that can get wet and grip well on wet surfaces
    • Light jacket or wetsuit top during winter (Wetsuit tops can be rented for a $15 fee.)

Are life jackets mandatory?
  • Life jackets are not required, but are available for anyone who would like to wear one.
What happens if my kayak flips over?
  • Your guide will help you right your kayak at the first sign of trouble.
What is the lunch menu?
  • For lunch, enjoy your choice of either a ham, turkey, roast beef or veggie sandwich. Garden salads are available as a gluten-free option. All meals are served with chips and a drink.
