FAQ
Expand all
Can I bring my own snacks and drinks?
  • No, you are not allowed to bring food or drinks.
How close will the boat get to the whales?
  • Hawaii state law mandates that all whale watching cruises keep a distance of at least 100 yards away from a single whale and 200 yards away if it is a mother and her calf. Your captain may shut off the engines to allow whales to approach the boat on their own.
How far in advance should I book this activity?
  • We recommend booking at least 1-2 weeks in advance. If you have very specific schedule requirements and are not flexible, please book sooner. Last minute availability is often possible, but limited.
Is giving a tip (gratuity) required?
  • Gratuity is never required, but if you enjoyed your experience a tip is always greatly appreciated!
What kind of boat will be used?
  • The "Spirit of Kona" is a custom-built 70-foot double decker power catamaran with seating capacity for 150. Kona's only boat designed for viewing of marine life above and below the surface, it features 360? topside viewing and two giant glass bottom viewing wells.
