The cost performance was good. Although the weather was bad, they were able to adapt flexibly. At Yakusugi Land, even the 30-minute course can be difficult under poor weather conditions, so I think it's better for elderly people not to push themselves (one person dropped out midway).

コスパ良かったです、天気悪かったのですが、臨機応変に対応して貰えました。ヤクスギランドは、30分コースでも天候悪いと足元が悪く、年配の方は無理されない方が良いと思いました（1名途中離脱）

I participated in the Jomon Sugi tour.

I thought the guide was physically fit and managed the itinerary well. However, I felt there could be more creativity in supporting beginners or participants who may have concerns about their physical fitness.

For example, when a participant's shoelaces came undone, there was a reminder to be careful as they might come undone again, but it would have been reassuring for beginners if there had been a check on how to tie them or some simple advice.

Additionally, when the same participant asked, "Should I wear long sleeves?" or "Should I wear rain gear?", the responses were mainly "Please make your own judgment." While I believe the final decision should be made by the participants themselves, beginners often ask questions seeking guidance, so additional comments like "It might get colder ahead" or "This is what I think" would have been more helpful.

Yakushima and the Jomon Sugi route are courses that many first-time participants join. There is a significant gap in knowledge and experience between seasoned guides and beginners. Bridging that gap is also one of the important roles of a guide.

To prevent accidents and troubles, I feel that enhancing the information provided and the guidance offered, while respecting self-judgment, would make the tour more reassuring for beginners.

縄文杉ツアーに参加しました。

ガイドの方は体力があり、行程管理もしっかりされていたと思います。一方で、初心者や体力に不安のある参加者へのサポートについては、もう少し工夫の余地があるように感じました。

例えば、途中で靴紐がほどけた参加者がいた際、「またほどけるかもしれないので注意してください」という声かけはありましたが、結び方の確認や簡単なアドバイスがあると、初心者にはより安心感があったと思います。

また、同じ参加者から「長袖を着た方がよいですか」「レインウェアは着た方がよいですか」といった質問が出た際にも、「ご自身で判断してください」という回答が中心でした。最終判断は参加者自身が行うべきだと思いますが、初心者は判断材料を求めて質問している場合も多いため、「この先は気温が下がる可能性があります」「私はこう考えます」といった補足があると、より参考になったのではないかと思います。

屋久島や縄文杉ルートは、初めて参加する方も多いコースです。経験豊富なガイドと初心者との間には大きな知識や経験の差があります。その差を埋めることもガイドの重要な役割の一つではないでしょうか。

事故やトラブルを防ぐためにも、自己判断を尊重しながら、初心者が適切な判断を行えるような情報提供や声かけがさらに充実すると、より安心して参加できるツアーになると感じました。

We are a senior couple, 70 and 62 years old. Following our trekking at Jomon Sugi the day before, we requested a private guide for the Shiratani Unsuikyo trekking tour as well. We had the same guide as the previous day. By the second day, we were familiar with each other, which allowed us to feel comfortable and trust him completely. The guide was considerate of our fatigue from the previous day and helped us enjoy the trek at a comfortable pace. I truly felt that having a private guide was the right choice. We were blessed with good weather and were able to fully enjoy the shimmering moss forest. The breathtaking view from Taiko Rock was moving! I couldn't help but exclaim. Thank you for the wonderful memories!

前日の縄文杉トレッキングに続き、白谷雲水峡トレッキングツアーでも貸し切りガイドをお願いしました。
前日と同じガイドさんに付いていただきました。
２日目とあって気心も知れており、安心してお任せすることができました。
ガイドさんは前日の疲れも気にかけてくださり、無理のないペースで心地よくトレッキングを楽しむことができました。
貸し切りにして本当によかったと思いました。
天候にも恵まれ、光り輝く苔の森を堪能することができました。

Since we were an elderly couple aged 70 and 62, we requested a private guide so we could trek at our own pace. It turned out to be a great decision. We were blessed with good weather, and our guide was kind and attentive, providing clear explanations about the highlights along the way, including plants, rocks, and the sounds of birds. Meeting the Jomon Sugi was truly moving! We completed the entire trek safely and smoothly, making it an enjoyable and wonderful experience. Thank you very much.

７０歳と６２歳の高齢夫婦だったため、安心して自分たちのペースでトレッキングできるよう貸し切りガイドをお願いしました。
結果は大正解でした。
天候にも恵まれた上、ガイドさんは親切丁寧で、ペース配分はもちろん道中各所での見どころや草花、岩石、鳥の声に至るまでわかりやすく説明してくださいました。
縄文杉に出会えたときは感動でした！

At first, I was a bit worried because the guide was somewhat older, but once the tour started, he turned out to be the best guide. He had a wide range of knowledge about Yakushima's history, nature, and recent events, along with a great sense of humor, making the tour very fulfilling. Additionally, when other tour participants were damaging nature to take photos, he didn't hesitate to firmly caution them, showing how much he truly cares about Yakushima's natural environment.

少々お年を召したガイドさんだったので最初は少し不安に思ったが、ツアーが始まるとその方は最高のガイドさんだった。
屋久島に歴史のこと、自然のこと、最近のことまで幅広い知識とユーモアがあり、ツアーとても充実したものだった。また、他のツアー客が写真を撮るために自然を壊す行為をしてしまっている時には躊躇せずにしっかりと注意をし、屋久島の自然をとても大切にしているのが伝わってきた。

I participated with my 7-year-old and 10-year-old daughters as a family. We were blessed with great weather, making it a comfortable day for hiking and climbing. Shiratani Unsuikyo is famous for being the forest from "Princess Mononoke," but we enjoyed wonderful views along the mountain paths as well. We fully enjoyed the great nature that Yakushima has to offer. The half-day tour is recommended for those who may not have much physical strength or for families with children. Next time, when the kids are older, I would like to challenge ourselves to reach Taiko Rock.

7歳と10歳の娘達と家族で参加しました。天気に恵まれ、快適なハイキング・山登り日和でした。白谷雲水峡はもののけ姫の森で有名ですが、途中の山道でも素晴らしい景色が堪能できました。屋久島らしい大自然を満喫しました。半日ツアーは体力に自信のない人や子連れの方にもオススメです。
次回は子供達が大きくなったら太鼓岩までチャレンジしたいと思います。

I had a great time participating in a two-day tour while being explained by the guide. Although I wasn't very confident in my physical stamina, the guide considered the pacing and made sure to chat with us so we wouldn't get too tired. I felt that the enjoyment of the tour really depends on the guide! I was very satisfied with the fun guides on both days.

ガイドさんに説明していただきながら楽しく2日間ツアーに参加できました。体力に自信がない中でしたが、ペース配分を考えてくださり、おしゃべりしながら疲れさせないようにと色々とご配慮いただけました。ガイドさんによっても結構楽しみ方が変わると思いました！2日間ともに楽しいガイドさんで大変満足できました。

I participated in early February. On that day, unexpectedly, it snowed, and despite there being only the two of us as participants, they still operated the tour. Several roads were closed, and we couldn't go to places like Yakusugi Land. Even so, taking advantage of the small group size, we were able to visit photo spots where large buses couldn't stop, and whenever we spotted Yakushima deer and Yakushima macaques on the Western Forest Road, they would stop or slow down for us. They were very flexible and accommodating, which allowed us to enjoy the experience to the fullest!

The guide was skilled both in driving and storytelling, and their explanations were easy to understand. Since it was my first time in Yakushima, I learned a lot from them, and it was very educational.

2月上旬に参加しました。
その日はまさかの雪で、参加者も私たち2人だけだったにも関わらず運行して下さいました。
いくつかの道路が通行止めになり、屋久杉ランド等には行けませんでした。それでも少人数なのを活かして、大型バスでは駐停車できない写真スポットを周って下さったり、西部林道ではヤクジカとヤクザルを見つける度に停車や減速をして貰えたり、色々と臨機応変に対応して頂いたので存分に楽しめました！
ガイドさんは運転もお話もお上手で、解説も分かりやすかったです。初の屋久島だったので、沢山のことを教えて貰えてとても勉強になりました。

I took a solo trip to Yakushima at a turning point in my life. It was a place I had longed to visit someday… and it turned out to be the perfect spot for me at this moment. Considering the season, I was blessed with good weather and felt like I received a lot of energy from the great outdoors!!

Our tour group consisted of six women, and from the start, we successfully completed the mountain trekking without any of us retiring after 11 hours and 30 minutes. The sense of accomplishment I felt at the end was something I could only experience here. I think it was physically quite challenging for us 🤭.

I hope to visit Yakushima again someday!

スタートから11時間30分

I'm in my late 50s and I don't consider hiking a hobby. A few years ago, I used to go to the gym once or twice a week, but I've stopped that recently and now I only walk a few times a month (about 5 kilometers). I like walking, so I thought it would be fine to participate, but 20 kilometers was indeed quite exhausting. I borrowed my mother's hiking boots (same size) from when she used to hike, but they were heavy! Are hiking boots really this heavy? Looking around, I noticed others had lighter, sneaker-like trekking shoes. Is there a difference between hiking boots and trekking shoes? Or have things changed in the last ten years? Because of these heavy boots, I found it hard to walk, my ankles hurt, and my feet became fatigued. On the way back, my legs were shaking and I lightly stumbled, but fortunately, I didn't suffer any serious damage. I think if it weren't for the guide, I would have struggled to pace myself and would have panicked in the second half. I believe the group was organized with age considerations in mind. We were lucky with the weather and didn't get rained on, which made for a very pleasant experience. I think it would have been much tougher if it had rained.

登山を趣味とはしていない50代後半です。数年前まではジムに週１，2回行ってましたが最近はやめてしまい、月数回程度ウォーキング（5キロ）する程度です。
歩くのは好きなので、まあ大丈夫かと思って参加しましたが、20キロはやはりかなり疲れました。靴は、以前、登山をしていた母親のもの（サイズは同じ）を借りたのですが、重い！！登山靴ってこんなに重いものなの？？周りの人を見てみるともっと軽そうなスニーカー風のトレッキングシューズ。登山靴とトレッキングシューズは違うのかな？それとも10年以上前と今とでは違うのか？！この靴のせいで重くて歩きにくくて足首が痛くなって足全体が疲労しました。帰りは足ガクガクで軽く転んでしまいましたが、大したダメージは受けずにすみました。ガイドさんがいなかったら、きっとペース配分ができずに後半焦ることなったのではと思います。グループ編成は年齢を考慮してくれていたと思います。天候には恵まれ雨に降られることなくとても気持ちよく過ごせました。雨が降っていたらもっと大変だっただろうなと思います。

I was able to enjoy sightseeing comfortably and happily with the explanations and guidance from the bus guide on the Yakuza Ru号. The day before, I had experienced the Jomon Sugi trekking tour, so I wanted to explore the island more widely the next day, and I was well taken care of. As I had hoped, I was able to do the sightseeing I envisioned.

During the bus ride, I was able to see many Yakuza monkeys and Yaku deer by the roadside, which I think was a benefit of traveling by bus.

The guide helped me with explanations on the bus and at the sightseeing spots, and I was able to get some great photos. Thanks to the driver, who prioritized safety, I enjoyed a pleasant drive. Once again, thank you very much.

やくざる号でバスガイドさんの説明・案内のもと気楽に楽しく観光することができました～前日、縄文杉トレッキングツアーを経験だったので、その次の日は、島内を広く観光できればと思い、お世話になったのですが、思っていた通りの観光を行うことができました～
※バスで移動中に道端等でヤクザル、ヤクジカを多数見ることができたのは、バスでの移動の賜物たと思います。

ガイドさんにはバス内、観光地での説明と合わせて、写真撮影でもお世話になり、いい写真をゲッツできました～
また、安全第一の運転手さんのおかけ様で、気持ちのよいドライブを満喫できました～あらためて、ありがとうございました。

Despite trekking for 10.5 hours in the rain, I had the best experience thanks to our guide and my companions (five of us in total). Here are the highlights:

- I was able to leave the arrangements for access to the trailhead and the lunch boxes for breakfast and lunch to them.
- With many other trekkers around, the guide's support (managing pace, rest spots, sharing with other groups, taking photos, and providing explanations at key points) allowed us to trek safely and comfortably.

ずんやり雨の中、往復１０．５時間のトレッキングでしたが、ガイドさんと同伴者（私を含めて５名）のおかげ様で最高の経験をできました。
以下よかった点になります
・登山口までのアクセス、朝昼の弁当の手配などおまかせでいけました
・他トレッキング者が多数の中、ガイドさんのサポート（ペース配分、休憩場所、他グループ等との譲り合い、写真撮影、要所要所での説明）のもと、安全に、気持ちよくトレッキングすることができました。
あらためて、ありがとうございました。

This is a place I want to visit at least once in my lifetime, so I practiced in advance and went there with excitement. However, the guide was really strict. They were focused on getting us back before the bus time and insisted we hurry up to have lunch because it looked like it might rain. They took pictures at certain points, but we were rushed, and people weren't even ready in the photos. The guide kept saying how things should be done and that this kind of guiding isn't good. They mentioned that for someone like me, it was just a hike, but it could be dangerous for amateurs who come unprepared. Because of this, we couldn't fully enjoy the experience and had to return quite early, resulting in a long wait for the bus. I wanted to enjoy it more.

一生に一度は訪れたい場所で楽しみに事前に練習して行きました。ところがガイドさんがほんとスパルタでした。帰りのバス時間前に戻る、雨が降りそうだから早く登ってランチする事に全意識されてました。ポイントで写真撮ってくれますが急かされ人物も準備出来てないまま写っています。ガイドはこうあるべきだ、こんなガイドは良く無い、これは自分にはただのハイキングだが素人が何も準備せず来るから危険と言う話が多く、しっかり見れずかなり早く戻ってかなりバス待ちました。もっと楽しみたかった。

I went on the Jomon Sugi trekking, which I had been worried about for years due to my age and lack of confidence in my leg strength. Honestly, it was tough, but I managed to complete the trek without causing any inconvenience to the others in my group. The weather was perfect, making it the best trekking experience. 年齢的なことと脚力に自信が無くて長年悩み続けていた縄文杉トレッキングに行ってきました。正直キツかったのですが、なんとか同じグループの方々にご迷惑をかけることなく完歩できました。天候に恵まれ最高のトレッキングでした。ガイドさんありがとうございました。

On the first day, I was able to get a general understanding of Yakushima, which helped with the next tour. The flying fish tempura for lunch was also delicious. It was great that all the places I wanted to see were covered.

まず1日目に、利用したので、屋久島の大まかなところを知ることができ、次のツアーに役立ちました。
昼食のトビウオの姿揚げも美味しかったです。
見たいところが網羅されていてとてもよかったです。

It was raining from the start, so I couldn't really enjoy the scenery around me at a leisurely pace. However, trekking while witnessing the untouched nature and the vitality of the plants significantly eased my fatigue and the passage of time. When I finally reached the Yakusugi, I was truly moved! Perhaps the sense of accomplishment from walking for five hours in the rain contributed to that feeling.

Additionally, the guide shared interesting stories about Yakushima's history and the cedar trees at key points, which was very educational.

However, the age demographic of the group was quite high, and the guide made many negative comments from the beginning, suggesting that if anyone felt it was too difficult, they could turn back or that they weren't adequately prepared. This left me feeling disappointed.

I wonder if it's fair to judge seniors solely based on their age, especially since many of them are quite fit these days. In the end, everyone returned safely and in good spirits, which made the guide happy as well, so that was a relief!

最初から雨だったこともあり、あまり周りの景色をゆっくり楽しむ事ができなかったですが、手付かずの自然、植物の生命力を目の当たりに感じながらのトレッキングは疲れや時間をずいぶん軽減してくれたと思います。やっと辿り着いた屋久杉には、感動でした！雨の中、5時間歩いた達成感もあったのかもです。
またガイドさんが要所要所で屋久島の歴史や杉についてお話ししてくださって、勉強になりました。
ただ、グループの年齢層が高かったので、ガイドさんが最初から、無理そうなら帰ってもらう、準備が足らない、などのネガティブな発言が多く、残念な気持ちになりました。
最近のシニアは皆さん鍛えていらっしゃるし年齢だけで判断されるのはどうかと？
結局みんな元気に帰って来れたので、ガイドさんも喜んでくださったので、良かったです！

I had experience climbing Mount Fuji, but the trolley path was unexpectedly tough and took a toll on my legs... However, I was glad to see Jomon Sugi, and the guide explained various points along the way. I was also encouraged by the other participants in the tour, and somehow I managed to go and come back, which turned into a great memory.

富士登山経験もありましたが、トロッコ道が思いの外つらく、脚にきました...
でも縄文杉は見れて良かったし、ガイドさんがところとごろ説明をしてくれたり、同じツアーの方たちにも励まされながらなんとか行って帰って来ることもできて、良い思い出になりました。

I had wanted to see Jomon Sugi for a long time, but I never got the chance. Now that I’m 60, I thought if I missed this opportunity, I might never see it. The last 2.5 kilometers were tough, but I’m glad I was able to see Jomon Sugi.

以前から縄文杉を見に行きたいと思いながらなかなか行けず、60歳になってしまったのでこれを逃したら見られないと思い参加しました。最後の2.5キロは大変でしたが縄文杉を見る事ができて良かったです。

The guide's talk was interesting. They provided detailed information about the best photo spots and took great pictures that looked amazing. I really enjoyed it. Highly recommended!

This tour offers the best cost-performance for a one-day sightseeing trip, including hotel pick-up and lunch, making it better than renting a car! Especially on the way to the Seibu Forest Road and Yakusugi Land, there are extremely narrow roads where only one car can barely fit, so it's better to avoid it unless you're very confident in your driving skills. I was impressed by the driver's technique. The guide was also knowledgeable and a great speaker, so the day flew by!

1日観光で、ホテル送迎、昼付きなので、レンタカー借りるよりコスパ最高のツアーです！特に、西部林道やヤクスギランドに向かう道は、車一台がやっとの超狭い道あるので、よほど運転に自信のある人以外はやめたほうが良いです。ドライバーさんのテクニックには脱帽でした。ガイドさんも、知識豊富で話し上手な方でしたので、1日があっという間でした！

Despite being close to my sixtieth birthday, I pushed myself to participate. Thanks to the guide's appropriate pacing, I was able to enjoy and successfully complete the experience without any issues.

The moss-covered forest is certainly wonderful, but it was great to overlook the Yakushima mountains from Taiko Rock. The day before, I went to Jomon Sugi, but this hike wasn't too strenuous, and since the pace was slow, I had plenty of time to listen to the guide's stories, take breaks, and take photos.

苔むす森も十分素晴らしいのですが、太鼓岩から屋久島の山林を見渡せたのがよかったです。前日に縄文杉に行きましたが、こちらは歩行もそれほど辛くなく、ペースもゆっくりなのでガイドさんのお話を聞いたり、ゆっくり休憩したり、写真を撮る時間もたくさんあったりでよかったです。

The shuttle service to and from the accommodation and the option to order bento meals were very convenient for early morning departures. I didn't use it myself, but the rental equipment seemed well taken care of by the guide, even in the rain, so it looked easy to manage. The pace depends on the group members, but when I participated, I heard about some people who had to give up midway due to health issues and others who fell and broke bones. You should expect to spend around 10 hours, so I recommend going while you still have some energy!

宿との送迎、お弁当の注文などもできて早朝出発には便利でした。自分は使いませんでしたが、レンタルは雨に濡れてもガイドさんがケアしてくださっていたので楽そうでした。
ペースはグループのメンバーによりますが私が参加したときには体調不良で途中断念の方や転んで骨折した方など色々聞きましたし、10時間程度は見込む必要があるので、少しでも体力のあるうちに行っていただきたいです！

By taking the bus, you can efficiently visit the island's attractions, and since a veteran driver smoothly navigates the narrow roads that I would feel uneasy driving on myself, it was reassuring. I also enjoyed seeing many Japanese macaques and sika deer.

The weather was a mix of rain and sunshine, but I was able to see many yakuzaru (Japanese macaques) and yakushika (Japanese deer) on the Western Forest Road. At Inakahama, there were traces of sea turtle nesting, allowing me to experience the island's charm beyond just the Yakusugi (Japanese cedar).

雨が降ったりやんだりの天候でしたが、西部林道でヤクザルやヤクシカをたくさん見れたり、いなか浜ではウミガメの産卵跡があったり、屋久杉だけじゃない島の魅力に触れられました。

On the last day in Yakushima, I was unsure whether to rent a car until my evening flight, but I found this course that takes you to the places I wanted to visit and decided to join. The Western Forest Road is narrow, and when a car comes from the opposite direction, one of the vehicles has to back up and wait. Most of the oncoming cars were rental cars, and I felt that backing up to a place where we could wait on those narrow mountain roads was quite challenging. We took a bus to tour various famous spots, and we could see deer and monkeys well after getting off the bus. It was a half-day morning course, but I was very satisfied and enjoyed it thoroughly.

屋久島最終日、夕方のフライトまでレンタカーを借りようか迷いましたが、
自分の行きたい場所をまわってくれるこのコースをみつけ参加しました。
西部林道は道路幅が狭く、対向車がきた時は、
どちらかの車がバックして待機しないといけません。
対向車はレンタカーばかりで、
細い山道で待機できる場所までバックするのはかなり大変だと感じました。
バスに乗車して各名所を巡り、
バスから降りてシカやサルも十分に見ることができます。
午前の半日コースでしたが、十分満足して楽しめました。

You should definitely see Jomon Sugi at least once in your lifetime.

The guide was neither particularly good nor bad; they provided various information but didn't have a special sense of humor or excel at creating a great atmosphere.

It was convenient that transportation and lunch were included in the tour.

やはり一生に一度は縄文杉見ておくべきです。

ガイドの方はまあ可もなく不可もなく、いろいろガイドはしてくれますが特別ユーモアがあったり良い雰囲気を作るのに長けているわけではないです。

送迎や弁当がツアーに含まれているのは便利でした。

I was guided by Mr. Sasaki and participated with my 69-year-old mother. It was my mother's dream to see Jomon Sugi, and Mr. Sasaki was attentive to her health throughout the journey, allowing us to reach our destination safely and comfortably! The other participants were also kind, making the hike a wonderful memory. There was a bit of a mishap at the end where we almost missed the tour bus, but Mr. Sasaki stayed with us until the very end, which was truly reassuring. It was the best experience, fulfilling my mother's dream!

ガイドの佐々木さんに担当していただき、69歳の母と参加しました。
母の夢だった縄文杉でしたが、佐々木さんが道中ずっと体調を気にかけてくださり、安心して無事に辿り着くことができました！
