Tokyo
Enjoyed the morning tour better than the afternoon tour. Lunch should include alternatives for Western tastes.
We assembled at the pick up point which was very centrally located ( directions were well given)and were well greeted by the English speaking Staff. Enroute we were informed that the tour to the 5 th Station of Mt. Fuji cannot be done as the road was icy due to the snow the day before. Alternatively we were taken to a different location “ Oshino Hakkai” with 8 different sacred pools all originating from Mt. Fujiyama. We instantly fell in love with this small Quaint Village.
We were taken for lunch to a European Style Restaurant which was overlooking the Fuji Q Highland . The lunch was a real treat, delicious and sumptuous. We were served Soup, Chicken, Salad, bread, desert and finally coffee/ tea. The ambience of the Restaurant was very very Royale. VELTRA was very kind in providing a vegetarian lunch for my wife.
We were then taken to the Mt Fuji Museum where we were shown a Fantastic Introductory film.
Later we drove to the Scenic Lake Kawaguchico for a Cruise. We had an ice cream treat from the souvenirs shop compliments VELTRA!!!.
We then took the rope way up the mountain to have a spectacular view of the Lake and the surroundings of the Base of Mt Fuji.
We would highly recommend this tour with VELTRA AS IT WAS VERY COST EFFECTIVE CONSIDERING THE COST OF TRANSPORTATION THE SIGHTSEEING, LUNCH, CRUISE RIDE, THE ROPEWAY AND NOT THE FORGET THE ICE CREAM.
THANKS VELTRA FOR YOUR SERVICES AND MAKING OUR DAY ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING DURING OUR STAY IN JAPAN.
Thank you for your feedback!
We are glad that you enjoyed the trip.
We are waiting for your next trip with us again.
Have a nice day!
The tour itself was an excellent way of seeing some landmarks in Tokyo if you are short of time. We highly recommend online booking before you turn up at one of stations. Although the sign at the station states you can purchase tickets on the bus, at the counter, and sales offices, and no reservations required, when we turned up at the Skytree Station on 15 April, the lady at the ticket booth insisted that the buses are full and there are no seats available. She told us even if we waited for the next buses, there were no guarantee there would be seats. I went outside, booked and paid for 2 same day tickets via Veltra, went back inside the ticket office, gave the lady my booking reference number, got my tickets straight away and got on the next bus. I didn't understand why she was adamant she couldn't sell us tickets and the buses were all full when we first went in. As we were leaving Tokyo the next day, we almost missed out on experiencing the bus tour if I had not tried getting the tickets via Veltra. To avoid same experience, we highly recommend booking via Veltra.
The guide was very informative. However couldn't go to fifth station of Mt. Ashi as promised in the tour plan. Instead went to the second station due to whether conditions. It would have be better if this clause was mentioned. One among the very less tours that cover both mount Ashi and Hakone in one day. Covers all the important look out points.
Honestly, I expected something completely different. The way was very long, the tour guide was not that excited about the information he presented and most of the facts I knew from the internet tourist sites beforehand. We clearly expected more insight into the history of the place: beautiful legends and folk tales or anecdotes from a local guide.
5-station was closed that day. As for sky gondola and the boat cruise, well, probably on a sunny day, but not on a windy April day. The sky was grey and it was freezing. Smoking valley was just a viewing spot to take a photo and taste a black ice-cream. Sorry to say, but I wouldn’t recommend this trip. I would go for another tour provider.
Excellent guide. Very informative and helpful throughout the whole trip.
Staff was very friendly but the overall experience didn't compare with other open air bus trips in other major cities. The monotone English audio was minimal and mostly uninteresting. Lots of room for improvement there. Not many stops and gap time between stops is quite long. I agree with other reviewers- spend your money on a cab.
This was our second 2-day tour with Taiji in 3 years, and everyone had so much fun! Not only is Taiji super detailed oriented in planning a wonderful itinerary for our group, and equally efficient in executing even the most complicated and busiest schedules, it is all accomplished without making the tour group feel rushed at all. At the end, we were able to enjoy a fantastic customized experience that catered to the varied preferences that ranged from a 15-year old teenage girl up to grandparents in their 70's and 80's!
Best of all, Taiji not only provides a great tour service, but does so by enhancing the experience through his fun personality. Not only is his English excellent, but it is very difficult to find someone who is as humorous as Taiji who can not only understand but participate in sarcastic humor! Thank you so much again for the truly memorable and fun times, Taiji!
Dear Derek
It was such a pleasure to see you again here in Japan.
Yes 3 years was very fast since the first time you booked my tour when I just started this business but din't feel that much time have past when I saw you first at the hotel.
I was very pleased to hear from Veltra that you were requesting me again and myself enjoyed very much the fun time with you as well with your humors too and I remember just like we have been laughing all the way and also to visit new places from your request.
As you know i can manage to bring you to any place including your favorite shopping site Costco.
Oh, and thank you for the gift, I opened that Champagne on my birthday.
Hope that all of your team is doing well and hopefully see you again in Japan to explore new places.
Taiji
The places of interests were worth going although it's packed with tourist. I wasn't too happy with the guide because he didn't even bother to explain much about the places of interest. He just took us there and told us to return at a specific time without introducing the place. A bus driver could have done his job. In the package, I was promised to have vocanlo eggs but didn't receive anything at all.
I should opt to visit the places myself instead of following this tour. Disappointed.
Thank you for your participation and your comments! We will keep improving our itinerary and service standard to make better trips for customer.
I was here in April and I found out that April is time when there is most snow on Mt Fuji . it happened to me and we had to stop at 2 point .. but everything else was nice and perfect. guide was outstanding and ride smooth
Booked this tour a couple of months ago, when the weather forecast said it will be sunny. Unfortunately, the day of the tour itself, there was rain and snow, obviously Fuji-san would be a no-show. However, Taiji made the tour as comfortable for the group as possible, offering alternative activities for the day, since the situation is beyond anyone's control. Have to admit, Fuji-san was just the really optional part of the tour, and the priority was Gotemba Outlets. So we spent more the most part of the day there, taking our sweet time shopping and enjoying what the day has to offer. Taiji is very friendly, on time, drives safely, adaptable to our requests who would go above and beyond. Over all, I would have to say we were in very good hands, and I couldn't have asked for anyone better, would book a tour with them again in the near future.
Dear Jeremy
As said, we had a very difficult day with the weather but nevertheless thank you so much for leaving such kind comment. I work and do all the best especially on a cloudy day knowing that the priority of Fuji tour is to see and get good shots of the mountain.
Please let me know if you plan to come to Japan again. We are not just only doing Fuji tour but we can customize any location according to what you expect.
Looking forward to seeing you again.
Taiji
Difficult to hear what the guides were saying.
Very busy between the different sights. When we finally found cherry blossoms there was no time to take photos.
Not too interesting to see the gardens and the shrine that was under reconstruction.
When I first came to Japan, the first place I’ve always wanted to visit was Mt.Fuji and see the beautiful scenary of the mountain!~ It was breathtaking moment to see the mountain in person and get a clear view of it. It was an unforgettable day for me that I’ll cherish!~
Thank you for booking with us!
We're very glad to hear that you enjoy your trip.
Have a nice day!
This tour was exceptional in that it was possible to select and change the itinerary as the day progressed. The tour guide spoke good English, was knowledgeable about the places we visited, and was happy and adept at discovering additional places to visit to fit our interests. In addition, the driver also spoke good English, drove well and safely, and also was helpful in support of the guide. We also had a very nice lunch in a beautiful and peaceful restaurant. All in all, this was without doubt the best tour we had in Japan.
The tour comprised a married couple and a friend - all fairly elderly, but the guide made sure we were able to see all the important sight seeing aspects of the tour.
We were picked up from a nearby hotel to our own hotel. we were picked up with a bus which goes to our actual transport bus. There were around 3 or four busses which were to same direction to mount FUJI all together 100 people only from the same company which is GRAY LINE.
First stop was mount Fuji 4th station. (We were told that 5th station was closed due to weather conditions, which is OK) however the problem was to enter 4th station it took 40 minutes, as I believe there were many other tours.
Super crowded, people were on top of each other to take pictures of Fuji view. The queue in front of the toilet was long impossible to use.
Indeed we were only given 20 minutes in the area.
By the time you get off and on the bus is already a lot of time passed.
After that next station was lunch break, it was given only 30 minutes, which I am glad we requested no lunch as well.
When we goy on the boat on lake Ashi, there was no place to sit down, boat was overcrowded obviously we stood indoors.
Overall I wanted to see mount FUJI close by which was done.
But it was rushed and very crowded. Tour guide was robotic overall no enthusiasm.
If you are OK with such tight schedule and dont mind being rushed everywhere it is alright.
I believe these kind of tours have a limited quota and not oversold just for money.
End of the day it was over 100 dollars per person still with no lunch.
You might better do the tour by yourself or pay more and find a private kinda tour.
Higashi is my Chinese-speaking Japanese born private
tour guide and having worked in China for many years, he is a gem that could give us Japanese culture and yet be able to relate to us - we are a Singaporean family (I was with my 70 year old mother and 2 sisters). He paced the entire trip nicely taking into account our speed, to the extent of serving our food needs and even accompany us to shopping to wherever we want and with such patience for a man! Encourage all to book him!

This tour was wonderful! I think the only downfall was because the weather was overcast so didn't get to see really good majestic pictures of Mt. Fuji but no fault of anyone but nature. LOL. The tour guide was very well versed in knowing all there was about cities, history, and spoke pretty good English. Everything went very smoothly and the traditional Japanese style lunch they planned was also right on point. I ate my very first and famously known black hard boiled egg straight from the site itself. Looking forward to the next trip and more planning through Veltra. Use Veltra as well as they seem to have more variety when all the other sites were all sold out, instant confirmations on most and a bit cheaper too. All bonuses!!
Thank you again, team, Veltra
Very encompassing tour of Tokyo. You see a both a Buddhist Temple and Shinto Shrine, visit several gardens, shop, take a boat ride on a scenic part of the river and have a great Japanese lunch. Of course the Cherry Blossoms were in bloom which made it extra special. Great guide!
This was the first time I took my parents on a bus tour and they were pleasantly surprised. The parking lot of the Metropolitan Government Building was a little confusing to find at first so make sure to get there early. Since the 5th station was closed due to the weather, we went to the 4th station instead but still had beautiful views from the top. The lunch at Fuji Q Highland was actually very tasty (chicken cacciatore, salad, bread, coffee/tea, dessert) in a beautiful little restaurant and an amazing view of the Mount Fuji from the tables. We had just enough time to do the sightseeing cruise, ropeway, and grab a little ice cream treat from the souvenir shop which must be a nice touch during the summer. We really loved the cruise and the view from the top of the cable car was spectacular for photos. Even if you were to add the cost of the bus, activities, food, and time to research I think it would cost more than than the tour itself. I would highly recommend this day trip to casual travelers that want a small taste of Japan's tallest and most majestic mountain.
Thank you for booking with us!
We are very happy that you enjoy the trip.
Hope to see you again.
Have a nice day!
Staff service was very good even prior to the start of the tour. At pickup point staff made sure we were at the right tour and everyone was on board. On the actual tour bus the guide talk about the different sights in Tokyo city before we got out of the city, and through out the drive to Mt. Fuji provide us with various cultural and scenic information. We had a good view of Mt Fuji, even though we did not get to the 5th Station. The ropeway ride was also good and well guide but the tour guide to make sure we got on board. The disappointing part was the boat ride on Lake Ashi - since our tour was part of a larger group of people, too many in our opinion as we had no place to sit down and had to stand in several crowded areas until we reach the other side. So we had no commentary about the Lake and it surrounds, so basically it was just a ferry ride to the other side of the lake. The guide look after us during lunch and had a place for us to sit even though we did not get a lunch package, and finally made sure we got the the Odawara Station OK and directed us to the correct train and platform.
We had a great trip to Mt Fuji and Hakona day trip. The guide was absolotley the best guide we ever had in our life.
Recomend it very much
Day trip to Mt. Fuji and Hakone and cruise on Lake Ashi was amazing . We were lucky enough to have an amazing view of Mt. Fuji .the coach trip was great and tour guide made the day lots of fun.
I only knew Harajuku for the gothic-lolita kawaii fashion so it was very interesting to see the back alleys and food places I normally don't see in guidebooks. We got to sample a lot of regional specialities and lots of desserts (my favorite!) Our friendly guide was super knowledgeable and was flexible to cater to our entire group. But be prepared to swim through the crowd and possibly wait on lines for some of the treats.
At first we were worried about the pickup service, since we are not sure which bus to board, but then there is actually a guide? Which will meet us at the pickup location and check the attendance, then only we board the bus to daiichi hotel and change to another bus to hakone. The way to hakone from daichi hotel is about 2h30min, but we get to have a 15min break after an hour on the bus and we are also able to see mt fuji from the break spot. We have mr yoshi as our tour guide, and he was informative. While in the bus, mr yoshi also teaches us how to count from 1-10, sang a mt fuji song, and fold an origami of mt fuji. The lunch was also delicious.
Our guide Asami did a great job taking us to places with great eats! She made sure to give us background info about the places we were visiting and even explained Japanese customs and table manners. She also accommodated personal requests (getting specific souvenirs, etc.) which made the tour feel more intimate.
I did expect this tour to feature more Instagrammable food, but it wasn't so much the case. Nonetheless, everything we ate was good. I especially loved the sesame ice cream!
A good tour, a good day with clear blue skies. Excellent view of Mt Fuji & well planned itinerary. The tour guide is helpful and gave us good description of the places we visited.
It was a very fun day trip with plenty to do and beautiful scenery. It was perfect for our 10 year old too. He said he really enjoyed it. We even really liked the Japanese style lunch...the portion was quite large. We got lucky because it was a clear and beautiful day.
The guide was fun and knowledgeable. The tour of the whiskey distillery and sake brewery was great. The sake brewery did not have an English translation but the guide translated for our group. We went to a great spot for lunch that was recommended by the guide. Amazing, I recommend the tour and especially if you need help with translation. Our driver was very friendly and accommodating interacted with the party. Highly recommend the tour.
Thank you very much for joining our tour. The restaurant we went used malted rice in their food, a result of the fermentation of Sake which is a portion of healthy food and gives tenderness to meat. It is called Kome Koji.
You can also find a naturally sweet rice drink (juice) called amazake known to have an anti-aging effect.
I hope the wine you bought at the supermarket was good also.
Thank you very much again.
Overall was very impressed with the day trip. Coach was comfortable and didn't feel like the journeys were too long overall. Host was very nice and informative.
Only two slight downsides to note was that we went for the 'no set lunch option' thinking there would be a shop to purchase food from or the option to pay for lunch when we got there but neither was correct.
Also, slightly surprised we did not get closer to Fuji.
Overall would definitely recommend.
We were thrilled that we booked this tour, it was a day full of incredible sights and learnings thanks to our sensational tour guide Levin!!!
Levin was brilliant at keeping us engaged and sharing some really interesting facts along the way.
The tour combined a few parts, all of which were spectacular viewing points for Mount Fuji.
We were very lucky to get to level 5 when we travelled in Feb as it was the first they opened this level, what a treat :)
The village along with ninjas was a nice way to break up the day and here was quite the feast waiting on us, the food was delicious and yet again, glorious views.
We ended the tour with a 3D flight simulation ride over Mout Fuji which was a cool and fun way to end the day before the trip back to the city.
Absolutely loved every minute and big kudos to Levin, he was an amazing guide!
