Your guide, dressed in a WWII Army Air Corps uniform will transport you "back in time" for a fascinating and nostalgic look into the 1940's era. Hear interesting and historical facts about the events leading up to, during, and after the war. Reminisce to the musical memories of the Glenn Miller Band and live radio broadcasts aired on the Day of Infamy, including Franklin D. Roosevelt's Declaration of War. Veterans and their family members will be encouraged to share their own war-years stories.
The journey begins with a Pearl Harbor tour where you'll see panoramic views of Battleship Row, Ford Island and the Arizona Memorial. Browse through the historical museum and watch a documentary film that features actual footage of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Via the navy shuttle boat, you'll be taken to board the Arizona Memorial, floating over the sunken remains of the battleship USS Arizona.
After your Pearl Harbor tour, travel to Wheeler Army Airfield and follow the Japanese Imperial Navy's flight pattern to Wheeler Airfield where you can see a P-40 fighter plane used in the movie, "Tora, Tora, Tora." You'll drive along the flight line where Japanese dive-bombers destroyed and set ablaze hangars, while fighters strafed rows of American aircraft neatly positioned on the airfield.
Traveling to Schofield Barracks you'll visit the museum dedicated to the 25th Infantry "Tropic Lightening (museum is closed on Mondays), who courageously served our country throughout WWII, the Korean War, the Vietnam Conflict, and the Gulf War.
At Fort Shafter, the oldest U.S. Military installation on the island, see the famous Quarter 5, residence of General Walter C. Short (responsible for the security on Oahu in 1941). Drive along the beautiful Palm Circle, which was strafed on December 7, 1941 and visit the "Pineapple Pentagon," Headquarters of the U.S. Army Pacific Command. You'll also have the opportunity for lunch at the Officer's Club. *the cost of lunch is not included in the tour
At Punchbowl Cemetery you'll visit the final resting place of more than 30,000 Americans who proudly served their country. Leaving Punchbowl Cemetery, drive through Downtown Honolulu and learn how civilian life was drastically altered after the initial Japanese attack and throughout the war years. See Iolani Palace, the only Royal Palace in the U.S., and the King Kamehameha Statue before a quick stop at the Home of the Brave Shop and Museum.
