The other evening, my friends and I got to enjoy an amazing performance of Cirque Hawaii. Located in the old IMAX Movie Theatre in Waikiki, Cirque Hawaii brings together awe-inspiring acrobatics, mind-boggling magic and death-defying aerial exhibitions in one stunning combination.
I wasn't sure what to expect before the show began, but once it started, Cirque Hawaii grabbed my attention and did not let go until the very end. With vivid costumes and make-up, dazzling lights and sound, and great seating, this is show that Hawaii has been waiting for.
The outlandish antics of physical comedian Valery Serebryakov Jr., has got be, without a doubt, the funniest thing that I have ever seen on this island...PERIOD! He literally had me in tears with laughter!
Then there was the troupe of high-flying bungee acrobats who had me gasping in amazement with their high-flying leaps and spins.
After the Russian Bar, gymnasts performed, I could only sit back in utter astonishment at the incredible way they managed to soar, tumble and somersault all the while landing on a narrow bar balanced between the shoulders of two strapping men.
Who would have thought that one man could make flying from silk look so easy? Yuri Ryzhkov, with just the strength of his arms, soars above the audience with all the grace and majesty of the mythical phoenix.
There was also this magic act called Transformation and all I can say is that after every scene, I kept saying, How DID they do that?!?!?
I could just go and on, but I'll just stop here for now...needless to say that Cirque Hawaii is show that I hope EVERYONE gets a chance to see!
