Beautiful property however we did not feel that it was very organized. The "first come first serve" idea is not well planned. People push and shove to try to get their activites together. We did not think the activities were worth the money.

I had time to kill while my friend that I was visiting was at work so I did the full day. It was enjoyable and not so bad being there alone. The sign up process for activities should be changed to before hand but I ended up going on the jungle expedition because the ATV tours got booked...boy was I a happy camper after I went on the expedition. It was the highlight of my day! The horse back riding was a little lame for the price you paid, but the scenery was nice. I choose the secret Islnad which was nice, although they only let you kayak in this small area which to me was not kayaking...seemed more like floating, I would have liked to have been able to get a good hour plus of kayaking in for exercise...even maybe go to Chinamans hat since you were only 20 minutes from it by kayak! All in all it was good...not sure if I would pay the mainey to go back...maybe next time I would stop in for the jungle expedition! Worth doing once if you are new to the island or have a family with you!

My husband and I along with our two friends booked this activity thinking it would be alot of fun. We booked the full day, did the ocean adventure, the jungle expedition, the horseback riding, and the ATV's. The ocean adventure was alright, they brought you out to a closed in bay, where you could see sea turtles, if you were lucky. We were and we got to see quite a few. But that was pretty much it for the whole ocean adventure. It lasted maybe 30 minutes. Then we went on the Jungle Expedition. This was definatly the highlight of the day! Danny was our guide and he was super informative! He told us about the tarrot plant, and how the whole Hawaiian Language is based on that plant, he stopped by strawberry guava trees and let us sample the ripe fruit. Danny really enjoyed his job and you could tell, because he made the whole trip fun. After lunch, we went ATV'ing. They really should explain that the ATV is a TOUR and not a track where you get to ride around for an hour. Everyone in my group is an experianced rider and having to moving along at 5mph, stay in a straight line, and not deviate at all from the line, really made the ride a bit boring. The only fun part was towards the end where we got to go around a little path that had some twists, turns and dips in it. Unfortunaly the govoners on the ATV's prevented us from going faster then 5mph. Lastley we did the horseback riding tour. They put you on this broken horse that has absoulutly no spirit left, they lead you up a trail around a loop and back down again. The horse has walked this trail so many times it could do it blindfolded. Again, we had to stay in a straight line, with no deviations, no trotting, no gallopping, and completly bored. They don't even stop to let you take pictures of some of the nice views. I would definatly not recomend this to someone who has experiance riding, or someone looking for a little speed!

We chose the half day and with that, we did the gun range and the atv tour. With the gun range, you get to shoot a pistol and a rifle. It was fun and safe. The atv ride was just as fun. The scenery was gorgeous and being able to ride on your own following the guide made it perfect. It was nice to have lunch ready and waiting as we worked up an appetite. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and informative. Would definitely make our way out there again and try other activities!!!

We enjoyed our time at the ranch, but my partner and I both felt the Secret Island activity was not worth two activity tickets. The Secret island would be great for families with young kids, but we went there thinking it would be great for snorkely, but it wasn't. I can't speak highly enough of the staff at the ranch for all activities. By far the most enjoyable activity for us was the Jungle Expedition.

I really enjoyed the ranch. The Atv ride was fun and very beautiful. The gun range was fun but it would have been more fun to tour other parts of the ranch. I would not do the gun range again. I think it is not that fun on an activity. The staff was nice. The Atv staff was wonderful. My major complaint would be the lunch. It was just bad. Don't expect much.

I have to say, we were very excited about this day. We had a full day planned of riding horses, jungle exploration, and the secret island. Others in our group planned on the ocean canoe and fish pond tour. When we arrived and were orientated we were told that several of these tours were not available that day and we would have to choose other tours. There were no other tours we could do or wanted to do. We ended up rescheduling our day for a half day and did the horse back riding and jungle exploration. The ranch was very commercialized. Horseback riding was on a trail in a straight line with no lookout points or anything...a little boring, but relaxing. The jungle exploration was great! I highly recommend. I also have complaints about the sign up process. When you get there you get in long lines to sign up for what you want to do, like a cattle call. If you don't get to sign up for what you want...too bad you are stuck there and must do something else. I would recommend that Kualoa get guests signed up for activities before arriving. I personally wouldn't go back to the ranch.

Not what I thought

I have mixed feelings about this activity. First of all, I don't like the fact that you cannot book your activities in advance. You have to sign up for your activities when you get there. This way, everybody is racing to the lines and it's possible that you won't get to do what you came there to do after you already paid your money and you could end up not having any fun! Luckily my wife and I got to do our horseback riding and movie tour. The horseback riding was pretty cool. The horses are trained and the area is controlled so that's recommended. The movie tour was kinda disappointing. You do actually see where filming took place on the grounds and sometimes you get to get out and take pictures but the sites are very limited. DO NOT THINK THAT YOU WILL SEE LOST BECAUSE YOU WON'T, IT'S CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC. That was my main purpose for taking this tour and I was disappointing. YOu will not see any movie activity, it's more of a history lesson. To me it all looks the same. The tour is very short but I guess one has to see for himself/ herself in order to see. I wouldn't go back when my family re-visits hawaii. Oh, and it's very expensive. You do get a lunch buffet though.

Our full day at the ranch was awesome! We loved the ATV and Jungle tours! The Jungle tour was the best because our guide stopped and let us try a variety of local mountain fruit. The Paliku was our least favorite due to the slippery hike in the rain. The Ocean Voyage was relaxing and exciting because we saw our first sea turtles!

Horses, Guns, and Secret Island

I really enjoyed horseback riding! Hadn't been on a horse in 25-year but it all came back to me. My horse minded VERY well. Thanks for the stairs to get on the horse. Kinda wished I had them to get back -- at 56 yrs old, I'm not as agile physically. I LOVED riding a horse again!! Never shot a gun before. Out of 40 shots, I hit the target about 15 times, which surprised me. I liked all the safety features built into this activity. No way someone would accidentally shoot someone. Fabulous experience! I was a little disappointed with the Secret Island beach beneath the water. Seaweed on the bottom was fine. It was rocky. Maybe they could have suggested to wear water shoes to the event. Water was great, although I expected it to be clear instead of muddy. Hammock was fun. They had lots of activities -- kayak, boats to row, volleyball, etc. I like how they provided the beach mats to lay on. Overall a wonderful time!! Thank you!!

The movie set tour needs more than just a sign where shooting took place. I would move some posters and scenes/ props. The horseback riding scenery is beautiful but some preliminary statements about riding horses, then history of the ranch, etc.
